I think my previous post got eaten but one of my favorites is Unusual Suspects (S5:E3), which is a flashback to the origin of The Lone Gunmen.  "Your kung fu is the best."

I hope they include a real deck editor and ideally some sort of overland map/strategy aspect like the old Microprose game.

I also want to play with the original power cards (Black Lotus, Moxes, Time Walk) and not the frufru cards they have now.  Yes, I know that won't happen.

85  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: New Computer Build: Video Card and Case Question on: May 24, 2011, 03:20:37 PM
When judging vidcard length vs case, one thing to look at is where the power plug inputs are on the vidcard.  If they are on the back end, then you will need some extra clearance to allow for the power cables.  Some cards put the power inputs on the side, which usually makes things easier.  Some cases will let you move or remove drive cages to allow for a super long card.
86  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Well, crap. Big Bang Theory eps? on: May 24, 2011, 03:08:20 PM
I think they used to not have any full episodes available.  You would think a show that appeals to geeks would have more robust online options.  It was very annoying back when I could only record one show at a time and had to pick between BBT and Community.

Not much of a leak.  I saw all of this on a Discovery Channel special a few nights ago.

I think that a 1GB GTX460 would be a good choice.

Depending on your budget, the next step up from that on the Nvidia chain would be the GTX 560ti.  It's a little faster than the 460 but it's up to you whether that is worth the marginal cost.

Early reports suggest that the Witcher 2 will take all the GPU love you can give it.

Heh, I try not to sleep in too much on Saturdays because it makes the weekend feel shorter.  I'll keep an eye out on Steam and I'm sure we'll be able to connect at some point.

it's been an interesting season so far, with them ripping off the Hangover and the Matrix in back to back episodes.

I was amused by the Spartacus: Blood and Sand ripoff in the Phantom Zone a few weeks ago.

This season has been all over the place, even more than usual.  Looking forward to the finale with Michael Rosenbaum and at long last, the suit(?).

That was fun.  Seems like we both had good runs of figuring out what to do.  I took a peek at the list of levels and it looks liek we have two more sets to get through.

Yeah, I enjoyed that a lot.  It took a few levels before the co-op portaling concept clicked in my brain.  I apologize again for the open mic--I checked the Steam settings but not the Portal 2 settings, and when I tried to change it ingame I got some freezing and screen corruption for some reason.  I'll try to remedy that before we play next time.

Incidentally, during the level transitions where you see "Your Partner in Science" in the lower left of the screen, your Spork Spock avatar was particularly hilarious in that context.

I should be fairly free to play during the weekend.  Saturday morning/afternoon may be especially good but other time blocks could work as well.

And to start things off, I've got the PS3 option, and was actulally able to get the PC version connected to my account before things went south.

So for right now, I have PC available for MP and would be interested in getting together Thursday night or any other night during the coming weekend.

I'm on PC and can probably play Thursday after work.  I just finished the SP yesterday and haven't played the MP at all.

103  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Green Lantern: The Movie on: May 06, 2011, 02:07:35 PM
I really like the "Out of this World" quality found in the few Tales of the Green Lantern Corps stories I've read.  I should pick up a larger PB collection sometime.  I doubt this movie will capture that well, but it would be cool if they can at least give us a glimpse here and there instead of primarily focusing on the ring making giant green guns and boxing gloves.

Ok, I should finally get ME2.  Is the Digital Deluxe edition worth it?  It doesn't seem to include any DLC (that you would have to otherwise pay extra for) except for a few in-game bonus items that don't appear to be worth $10.
105  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Re: MTG - Old School Decks vs. Overpowered New Stuff? on: May 05, 2011, 06:35:27 PM
I'm not familiar with the current stuff (maybe you'd just have to ban the Planeswalkers to keep things reasonable), but I imagine a few favorite old school decks could still be competitive:

White weenie = lots of good quick white critters with Crusades
Necropotence = Necro for insane drawing, Hymn to Tourach, Hypnotic Spectres, Black pump knights, Dark Ritual, Swamps, Strip mines, Mishra Factories
Ernie-geddon = Mana elves/birds, Erhnam Djinn, Autumn Willow, Armageddon
Erhnam and burn'em = Erhnam Djinn backed up with Lightning Bolts and other good red direct damage
Good stuff = My favorite deck, 4-color, with most of the best stuff from ~ the 4th edition era.  Hymn to Tourach, Black pump knights, Hypnotic Spectre, Dark Ritual, Ernham Djinn, Lightning Bolt, Disenchant, Swords to Plowshares, City of Brass and other multilands.

You might try one of those contour foam pillows, if you haven't already.  I used to get frequent neck aches, but the contour pillow has pretty much eliminated the problem.

I frequently have trouble getting to sleep so I can sympathize.
110  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: How to write a 300 page book on a 1 page topic on: April 21, 2011, 02:03:11 PM
Birth announcements in newspapers can easily be planted by going back in time.  If we had China's ban on using time travel to rewrite history, then we could treat that evidence as reliable, but we don't and therefore we can't.  That Obama has not introduced similar bans on time travel is pretty damning, IMHO.

a new first person tower defense game.   it looks like this one's claim to fame is building mazes then being dropped into them to battle the hordes, plus it has two player co-op.  It's definitely colorful, and I figure for 15 bucks it will end up in my backlog.

I cannot get past the third level, the one where you have only two minutes to build a maze that it takes more than a minute to solve.
112  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Radiant Historia [DS] radiates on: April 18, 2011, 08:45:49 PM
I only had about an hour to play with it last night so it was mostly some reading and a few battles.  Early impressions are that I dig the music and the combat system has potential.  I was half asleep when playing, but it seemed the idea was to use your first two characters to push the enemies around and try to stack 2-3 of them up so the third character can damage the whole stack.  Changing the order of battle can put your guys in the right order for optimal stacking moves.  I'm sure it gets more complex with future skills, but is that the basic concept?  Stack and whack?  icon_biggrin

I haven't played them, but take a look at Risen and Drakensang:River of Time (the recently released one).

Also look at Dawn of Discovery for a trading/building game.

Yea, I'm not worried about it.  I'd probably never even listen to it.  It's a rainy day here so I'm hoping to crack into the game tonight.

(Also, am I the only one who hates pillowtops?  I want my mattress to be only slightly less firm than a slab at the morgue.)
