this brings up a good question, how come there are no Canadian restaurants?  and would there be anything on the menu other than poutine and moose steaks?

Burgers with Mayo on it
All Dressed Chips
Ketchup Chips
Dill Pickle Chips
Butter Tarts
Smarties (the chocolate kind, like M&M's)
Wonderbar
Tim Hortons Coffee

....that's all I got right now.

Maple syrup, maple ice cream, maple . . . everything.
42  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: What music streaming service do you use? on: August 27, 2013, 09:49:08 PM
Thanks for the reply and the info.  I buy all of my music from Amazon mp3 these days, but my collection also includes stuff bought from emusic and some rips from my own CDs.  I doubt I would buy anything from Google unless it was a must-have that for some reason Amazon did not offer.  I'm just wondering whether Google's free cloud service is "good enough" vs. having to pay Amazon.  Plus, my Android phone is a starting to get a little cramped for app space, so I'd rather get by with the already-there Google Play Music app rather than having to install the Amazon mp3 app as well.

I'm thinking of cloudifying my music collection via Google Music.  Is their scan and match process pretty effective?  I don't want to spend days uploading my collection.

45  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Breaking bad as good/bad as usual! on: August 26, 2013, 10:08:18 PM
Anyway, my theory on the endgame:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Walt evacuates his family to NH or wherever, then makes a deal with Hank that he will return to ABQ alone and surrender in exchange for letting Skyler off the hook and leaving his family in peace.  Walt comes back but gets the heavy weapon to tie up some loose ends -- Meth Damon and the crew -- to give himself a bit of personal redemption by dissolving the remnants of his evil empire (though I cannot really see WW gunning down folks Rambo style, but anyway...).  Walt still has the cancer but wants to stay in control and make sure he never goes to trial or stays in prison for long, so he uses the ricin on himself right before he turns himself in to Hank.  Walt's full confession exonerates and saves Hank from career embarassment, but then Walt starts exhibiting flu-like symptoms...

I'm starting to think Walt's downfall (if there is one) will be a direct result of Todd's big mouth - either directly, or because the uncle now knows his real name.
Spoiler for Hiden:
I wonder whether the bloody paper towel that clogs the diner toilet is a red herring.

I've heard nothing good about Quickenloans (primarily that their fees are outrageous).  I'd find a good local broker that will shop you around to several banks.  If you have a real estate agent you trust, they should have some strong recommendations on a broker.

To be perfectly honest, I actually don't care who the President is. Aside from military power, he can't impart change without Congress.

If the Republicans end up with control of both the House and Senate, then it will matter quite a lot who the President is.

Don't forget that Romney saved the 2002 Olympics, largely by lobbying the federal government for hundreds of millions of dollars in funding.  He can just do the same thing again to fix the US economy!

I think Amazon Instant still offers the Breaking Bad pilot episode for free, so you may try that to see whether it is the full version.

I've never really been interested in Buffy, but after rewatching a couple Firefly episodes over the weekend and wanting more Whedon, I decided to give it a shot.  Watched the first two episodes last night, and enjoyed it more than I expected to.  The acting was kinda shitty (does it get better?), but the writing, story, and setting are all pretty cool.

Will be interesting to jump into that series.

Buffy Season 1 is very rough and uneven.  Don't worry--it gets much. much better.  S2 and S3 are excellent.
63  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [TV] Glee Season 3 on: October 05, 2011, 01:53:24 PM
I had the last 5 eps of S2 saved on my DVR when it died a few months ago.  I was going to grab them from Amazon to get caught up before S3, but I never got around to it.  I may catch up eventually, but at this point I have plenty of other stuff to watch.  For me, Glee definitely has gotten repetitive and the freshness has worn off.

When I finally upgraded to digital cable earlier this year, I went to pick up my DVR box at the local customer center and the CSR there just started giving me various promo rates without me even asking.  It cut my bill almost in half for 6 months, then it will just go back to what it was plus a few extra bucks for the DVR.

Interesting.  All these years, I have been packing inefficiently.  I do not have a smartphone, but when I carry my cell I put it in my right pocket.

So when you start the car or open a door, you swap your keys from left hand to right hand?

I swap to start the car, of course, but I don't swap to unlock a door.

Clearly, I need some time and motion studies.

Are you left handed or right handed?

Right.

I think I've always put my car keys in my left pocket so can dig them out with my left hand while carrying something in my right hand.  I also put my messenger bag over my right shoulder, so digging my keys out from the right pocket would be awkward.

Last year's started around this time.  My guess is that it will start as soon as 6/24(!) and no later than 6/27, ending on or around 7/3 or 7/4 (or maybe 7/5 if it starts on 6/27).

I feel liberated, finally unleashing my dark passenger to slake its thirst on the misery of others.

I always used to play the good Paladin, frequently thinking I would replay the game as an evil character but really never did.

I've started to play more mercenary/selfish type characters most of the time, e.g. Renegade-style in Mass Effect.  Not evil, but I do what is best for me even if means stealing, selling you out, or killing those that have something I want if they at least kinda deserve it.
