How does it compare to the first game?  I remember getting into all the stats and such, and how they work.  I kind of like that aspect, and in some ways I felt that Dragon Age was missing that element to make it a truly great game.  I don't think I have the heart to go back through the entire first game though.  I recall getting through the forest and city sequences was a bit taxing.

As I've really been enjoying myself in the game now that I'm past the horrible registration issues that plagued the launch, I can tell you that this is a game that should be played on PvP servers.  It's not surprising that they just added two new PvP servers due to demand. 

Due to the travel powers, it is fairly easy to get away unless you get jumped.  But, this often can lead to a bit of cat and mouse chases if you or your opponent really wants to finish the "kill" so-to-speak. 

I spent some time in game last night and I was surprised to see how much time has passed.  I had some rather adrenalin pumping chases where I was soaring around buildings and such to try to and get a breather to regain some health.  Reminded me of the comics in more ways than one.

So far, I enjoy this more than Champions Online, even though Champions has more character customization at the outset.  This game makes it up with loot rewards that you can choose to have change your appearance or not.  Very flexible system.  I enjoyed CoH back in the day, and this compares favorably to that, with the added bonus of the DC Universe lore.  You can press the enter key to enter things in the chat channel, such as emotes and chat.

By the way, I have a hero on the "Public Enemies" PvP server named "Splinter" if anyone wants to group up.  I am not in a League at this point.  I also have a villain on the server named "Vespyra."  So you can create toons on both sides on the same server it appears.

Ritt, I'm on the Public Enemies PvP server at the moment.  So far its been fun in my limited playtime.  There is a lot of backstory, and they did about as good a job as you could do at trying to explain why all of us superheroes have come into being.  There are several opening cutscenes both before the tutorial and at the end that suck you in.

I remember playing the first one and generally liking it.  I didn't end up finishing it as it was on a hard drive that died so I lost my saves.  I remember making it through about 50% or so?

On the PvP servers, which are quite popular, the PvP is open world.  Makes for some excitement as I do missions in the city.  Also gives you a reason to use the environment as cover -- you can actually use and destroy many objects in the city.  I was hiding behind a fence from a "hero" only to have the fence blown away as he fired at me.

It's kind of a bit like Rift at the early going where you have very few abilities until level 5 or so.  Once you hit level 5 things start to open up a bit more.  The big difference is that many skills are triggered as combos rather than as powers on your action bar.  This keeps the action bar clutter down, but means you have to keep in mind what combos you have at your disposal.  The combos are easy to pull off with a mouse and keyboard, but that's where the skill in the game lies (as well as knowing how to use your environment).

Ritt, what server are you on?  My feeling is that this game is going to be trickier than most to socialize in so "guilds" or "leagues" are a must!

Well, after tons of hurdles with the worst registration management of any online company, I am now in game.  The game has a lot of potential, especially in the PvP group as leveling doesn't create as much a disparity as it traditionally does in other games.  I created a villain, and while I was doing a public quest at level 4 with another level 4 character, an 8th level hero decided to try to kill us.  However, we were more than capable of disposing him.  

The trick with this game will be to think about it in different terms.  It is more action oriented so combos need to be considered.  Up until this point, though, I don't see anything that can't be done easily with the mouse.  The chat interface is the one thing I see that is geared heavily for the console market as you need to press a button ("o") to bring up the social screen.  This is clearly designed to try to balance the playfield with console players.

So far the servers seem pretty populated, especially the PvP ones which I started on.

So, I try to subscribe today for DC Universe, and my credit card gets rejected, so I try again and it gets rejected again.  My credit card company calls me and asks about the charges saying one of the two payments was accepted even though SOE says it was not.  Try to call SOE, their help number is just busy and online chat support has an enormous wait-line.  I keep forgetting how bad this company is with their launches.  Why did I insist on getting DC Universe!   icon_confused

Ed. I am now in the game FINALLY, and I have good things to say about it at least.

Hmm...well, I played both sides too.  Generally liked both starter zones about equally I guess, although I went further on the Defiant side than Guardian side.  I played the most with my Kelari (~Dark Elf) Marksman/Ranger/Saboteur. 

I've also found that people in betas often play the opposite "faction" of what they intend to play most at release, to preserve the newness of the starting zones they will be playing in at release.

I pre-oredered this a longtime ago, so I will probably give it a whirl.  It has one thing going for it at least -- it doesn't crash my laptop (at least not during the beta)!   icon_confused  Rift, unfortunately, which I liked in the limited beta this weekend, crashed to desktop more times than you could imagine.

Well, I like the game from what I've seen of it, although my sad little Alienware M17x can't seem to run it well.  Crash to desktop quite a bit.  Must use a similar platform to Dragon Age or something.  In any case, it has inspired me to get the motherboard and graphics cards replaced under warranty as I have so many issues with this crappy laptop.

So, to make any MMORPG game out of it, I don't really think you can have people running around as Superman.  You need to be more minor Superheroes at the end of the day.  I'll be interested to see how strong the late game characters can get though.

I'm holding off playing this for the time being after my character got auto-boosted to 5 stars in all categories while playing in multiplayer.  Considering that the game isn't that hard to begin with, I'd rather not become a superhero early on in the game.  I'll wait until they fix that bug.

On that note, does anyone have weapons/hair/other stuff that they'd like to trade.  I still haven't found a few hairstyles that I've read about, such as the bob and long hair styles.  Maybe they're at a store in your game and I could pick them up?

I hit on a rather annoying bug.  I was trading weapons with someone online, and after they left I discovered to my horror that all of my stats had jumped to 5 stars.  I had planned to use magic exclusively in combat throughout the game.  Oh well.  Hopefully Lionhead will come out with shrink potions.  I'm considering starting over for the heck of it.

That being said, does anyone here have the apaprently rare long hair or bob styles in their game for a potential trade or available in a shop?

Sunset House was one of my favorite locations.  Cool place.

Sorta, yes. There's...48 (I think) Legendary Weapons in the game, and you'll only find about 10 per playthrough if you don't head out exploring.

Cool, I don't want to check out the referenced site for spoiler reasons (I kind of want to discovery the legendary weapons without knowing the whole list), but are there any specific shops I should visit in other players worlds?  Who wants to let me into their world?  I promise, I'll use the outhouse when necessary, and I won't soil the landscape.  Also, a lot of the weapons have names -- how can one tell when you have a legendary weapon?

I've been taking my time with Fable 3 so far.  Having fun, but they really dumbed down a lot of the fun character management that I liked having.  That being said, I've been trying to randomly join coop games, as I was curious to see if I could purchase different items, including legendary weapons and such.  Is it correct that shops in different worlds will typically have different legendary items for sale?  So far, early on, I haven't seen much in shops to write home about, but that may be because I haven't reached Bowerstone yet?

I'm still playing this pretty often in mp on the 360.  I can't seem to get enough western action.  Really wish a full MMORPG could come out using this as a basis for the game.

I haven't gotten any games from GOG before.  Are there any compatibility struggles with these things, or has GOG cnofirmed they work with Vista and Win7?  I'd like to try Icewind out, I skipped over it back ni the day as I knew it didn't have the party interactions of BG2.  Does it have a higher res mod out there?

Well, yet again I'm having problems with a game on my Alienware M17x laptop with 280M cards.  Running Civ in DX10/11 I get occasional freezes.  In DX9, I get weird flickering errors on some land tiles that have been upgraded by workers (zooming all the way out gets rid of the flickering, but...)  Looking at the Civ5 troubleshooting boards, I see others are having the same issues.  Bloody laptops are no fun for games these days.  The drivers are all too iffy.
