I'm not dissing Mazdas, they make great cars right now. I'm just talking about the Mazda curse that's all. I've been looking at Mazda3's. The very happy smiling front end has grown on me I just bought a used 2008 Mazda 3 to avoid the grin. I love it but after reading this thread I fear for its future.

My Angels...asleep at the wheel... At least your team isn't trying (and failing) to trade Milton Bradley. My team's big offseason move so far has been to sign Jason Kendall. I think it's time to abandon my Royals and start looking into being a Mariners fan.

Get an HP laser printer, at whatever budget/feature level you require. Sometimes the cheapest models (of all brands) are a little flimsy when it comes to the paper tray etc., so I'd go for at least one price level up from that for better build quality.
+1 I bought an HP LaserJet 1000 about 8 years ago and it's still going strong. I don't print that much and I think I've only replaced the cartridge twice in that time. On the downside it's so old there are no Win7/Vista 64-bit drivers for it.

I haven't played in two months. My last three-month sub runs out in a week. And now they add a major patch. And I like this ll level 71-80 Battleground daily quests will now award 25 Arena points in addition to their current rewards. I like PvP (especially Wintergrasp. Fun!) but hate that all the best rewards require arena points which are difficult to get for a soloer like myself. Now...

Let me save you the time. This is where brett rushes in and says he's not a Republican, doesn't like GWB, etc. You see, brett isn't actually for anything at all, he's just against everything. It's mentally less taxing to just hate everything.
You're right. The only things I can remember brett championing are incandescent light bulbs, AOL and plus sizes.

Congrats! Everyone talks about how life changes when you have a child but I don't think anyone can ever be prepared for the reality. Elise is 4.5 now and I enjoy every day with her. The highlight of my day is always getting home and hearing that shout of "daddy!!" as she runs to the door.

Years ago I needed a name for my D&D character. For some reason I decided a minor character on Mork & Mindy was the perfect role model I liked it so much I used it as my character name in every game I played as well as my BBS forum handle It wasn't until Al Gore invented the internets that I discovered I misspelled it.

Watch out there, make sure you find out the brand of the SSD. If you get an SSD I would just pick it up after market, you will want the large platter for bulk storage anyways. If you're going SSD (and I would recommend it if you have the money) get an Intel X-25M G2. I notice a lot of "new PC" threads these days seem to be built around the Phenom II X4. I've been doing a little research into a new PC and I kind of assumed I'd build around the Intel Core i5. Is the Phenom II X4 a better/cheaper platform?

Don't really want to get off topic here. Bush won the election in 2004 due to the war on terror. If you want to think Iraq was really about the existence or non-existence of WMDs go ahead. It's unfortunate for the Iraqis that the war against AL Qaeda was mainly fought in Iraq over the last few years. But it needed to be done. It's alot easier to fight them there than in the mountains of Afghanistan. Sorry if that bothers you.
Why did we invade Iraq to fight Al Qaeda when Al Qaeda had no presence in that country at the time of the invasion? They showed up after we were there when they found that unarmored vehicles made easy targets for IEDs.

If anyone wants to know why Ron was reluctant to open up the pandora's box of a political/religious subforum, look no further than this thread. yeesh.
I don't think the subforum is the problem so much as one particular poster.

Give me mid 70's with partial cloudiness and lows in the upper 50's All year long and I'll be happy.
Add low humidity to that and I'm in. Sounds like the Pacific Northwest about 70% of the year. Unfortunately this week we're getting Pete Rock weather. Tuesday we're scheduled to go camping. The high temperature is supposed to hit 102F. Bah. Bring back my clouds and cool temperatures.

...and with 7.5% market share there are only so many used Macs to go around. Hrm...7.5% is about the same percentage of people with I.Q.s over 125. Just sayin'. That makes sense - only those making good money can afford Apple's ridiculous prices.

Lenovo quality is utter SHIT compared to the old IBM stuff. They aren't the tanks that the old Thinkpads used to be, sadly. I won't buy anything but Apple hardware now for laptops, bar none.
You really need to try the x301. Best build quality of any laptop I've owned, including my macbook. The keyboard has no flex and the case is completely solid. With the SSD, the thing is completely quiet and doesn't heat up at all. I heart it so very very much. We're using X200s at work (with a few x300s thrown in for fun). They're solid enough but the support... We had a recurring issue where they would lock up every time they went into standby mode. Of course our CIO had one and always let it go to standby when he went to meetings - so it was a BIG ISSUE. We worked with Lenovo for a few months to find a solution. Lenovo spent most of this time insisting the problem was with our build. Finally one day a Lenovo engineer mentions they have some new, "internal-only" drivers for the touchpad to address just this sort of problem. Funny thing - once we installed those drivers the "problem with our build" went away. The most frustrating thing is the drivers that were public were version 0.8 or so. The drivers they didn't see fit to release were like version 2.5. We used to be a Dell shop. I wish we'd go back.

Not to mention used Macs are still actually worth something. Had my screen not been damaged, I could probably get north of $1000 or so for this 2 year old MBP that I paid less than $2K for brand new. You aren't going to get anywhere near that level of resale value on a PC. I found this out when I wanted to buy a used Mac laptop. I would up paying $230 for an old iBook G4. Of course part of it is they cost so damn much new - and with 7.5% market share there are only so many used Macs to go around. Macs have their virtues but they cost more. That's why I questioned those who call these MS ads "misleading".

Is the free trial broken or something? I pre-ordered way prior to release, created an account but never actually bought the game. Too WoWish - I just went back to WoW. Now I'm interested in giving it another shot. I can login to Turbine's site with my old account but of course that account isn't eligible for the free trial. I tried creating a new account with a different email address but it keeps failing, telling me the username wasn't accepted. This happened ever after I picked a ridiculous user name like Bob19845312. I found a few other folks having the same problem. Turbine's making it very, very difficult for me to give this a shot.

Misleading? I recently decided I wanted a Mac. I looked into it and maybe I was misled by Apple's website but I sure couldn't find a new Mac laptop for less than $999. It's easy enough to find a Windows laptop for under $499. Or compare Apples to Dells. But I guess that's a little misleading as they're not identical hardware - the Dell has more RAM, twice the hard drive space and a DVD-RW drive. For $300 less I wound up buying a used Mac on on eBay.

A couple of nights ago I wrapped up a Paul Newman streak with The Hudsucker Proxy, a 1994 Coen Brothers film whose existence had escaped my attention entirely. I can't remember the last movie that made me LOL so many times...it was a 5-star movie until the last 20 minutes fell apart. I gave it 4 stars despite the goofy ending. Maybe I was just in the right mood for it.
The Hudsucker Proxy is one of my top-five favorite movies. And not just because of my inexplicable crush on Jennifer Jason-Leigh. I even like the ending.

The store that failed is about 5 minutes from my house. How the hell did they diagnose a virus when they weren't able to "fix" the broken hard drive in the first place?
