Screw the haters! Apple airport express and AirPort Extreme. The best, easiest to setup, and most stable routers I've ever used. Much more loyal than my last girlfriend. The reviews on Amazon don't lie.

I hope you're right - my ASUS has been dropping connections and Best Buy had refurbed AirPort Extremes available for $120.  I had $15 in credit so the final price is almost half of retail.

Too bad it won't get here until Tuesday.   crybaby

Can't imagine how you can say he vigorously enforces immigration law with a straight face.

Yeah that's just crazy

Quote
But deportations of unauthorized immigrants continue at record levels. In 2011 some 392,000 immigrants were removed from the U.S., according to the Department of Homeland Security. Among them, 48% were deported for breaking U.S. laws, such as drug trafficking, driving under the influence and entering the country illegally.

The Obama Administration has deported more immigrants annually than the George W. Bush Administration.

LOL  from Moliere's link:

Quote
This confusion enables political spin, too. If you want to portray Obama as weak on enforcement, use the removal numbers, which, compared to his predecessors, are lower. If you want to make Obama look tougher on enforcement, combine the return and removal numbers (like George W. Bush apparently did)

So, if you use a different measure than W. did Obama's numbers are worse!   retard

November 2005, eh?

I was married and we were struggling with our 5 month old's inability to sleep through the night.

Since then I've lost my wife to cancer and dealt with raising a now-8 year old myself.  I've loved and lost and now find myself in love again with an amazing woman who shares many of my nerdy hobbies.  I didn't get a Ps3 until several years after launch and it's now a dedicated BluRay player as all my gaming takes place on the PC.

It's been a very eventful 8 years.

I'm completely content with PC gaming at the moment. My rig, while not cutting edge, still plays most things at top or near-top settings, and the games are plentiful and cheap (wake me when Humble Bundles come to the console).

I've never been a day-1 console buyer but I'm not feeling any desire for the new systems.  My Ps3 hasn't been turned on in months and that was to watch a BluRay movie.  I'm amazingly content with PC gaming.

Although my tune may change next spring when the new version of MLB: The Show appears.  Why can't we have an action baseball game for the PC?   crybaby

Surprised at the tepid response, I actually loved last night's episode.  Yeah it was more of the same in some sense, but I found it riveting, possibly because I really wasn't sure who was going to survive.

I was so bored with the first half of the episode that I started folding laundry while watching it.

Things picked up but I never really felt anyone was in real danger.  I think they need to off a long-time character soon because there's no real tension any more.

I wish they had separated out the options.  I turned off the motion thing when iOS 7 came out because I didn't want the device using up battery to detect I was moving my iPad to make the parallax effect thing move, but I actually like the transitions.  Now those transitions are gone because I turned it off for the other reason.

agreed % 110. I also liked the 'fly in effect'
to get it back:
settings / general / accessibility / reduce motion. turn it off if you want the icon animation.

What's worse is you can't turn it off on an iPhone4 - since the parallax effect isn't compatible with that model they don't give you access to the "Reduce Motion" option.

I can turn it off on my work 5 but not my personal 4.

it's funny, I never even noticed the zoom effect until I sat down and looked for it the other night.

It bothered me at first. I don't notice it now I am so used to it. It's not so slow that it bothers me.

The most recent iOS patch removes the ridiculous ZOOMing if you turn on Reduce Motion in accessibility options.

So I have a hard time calling it a "game" so to speak.  It's a focused learning tool really that just took the way rock band showed music and reimagined it as another way to read music.  There isn't any failing in the song mode.  There is a minigame area that has games that work by having you practicing certain things (chords, running scales, etc.)

I felt like the first Rocksmith tried too hard to be a game.  For 2014 they made the correct choice to present it as a learning tool and it's a better product for it.

Quote
I am sure that you will memorize the songs and be able to play outside the game.  That's how learning guitar works to be honest.  At first you need the transcription, but over time you don't.

Prior to getting the original Rocksmith last year I had never held a guitar before.  Now I annoy my daughter all the time by playing the riffs from "Boys Don't Cry" or "Where is My Mind" over and over.

If you're at all interested in learning guitar I recommend picking it up.   thumbsup

I can't send iMessages to other iOS users - they get stuck on sending and after a reboot they show as "not sent"

The GOP's biggest fear is that Obamacare might actually work.

Yup.  Once Obamacare is implemented the Republicans will be pushing to re-implement recission, to re-introduce lifetime caps, to remove kids up to age 26 from their parents plans and to allow insurance companies to not cover pre-existing conditions.

No matter how unpopular the phrase "Obamacare" polls I can't imagine taking all that away will be any more popular.

T-Mobile and their special 'web only' deal. Yes I had to buy the phone up front. Yes I can't get any insurance through the plan. But for $30 a month (plus about $3 in taxes) I get 100 minutes (but unlimited wi-fi calling), 'unlimited' (5GB before they slow you down) internet, and unlimited texting. Although the plan is only really useful if you're in a major city that has good coverage on just their towers (or so they say).

So while everyone is paying $80 (what my Sprint bill was after an employee discount) or a lot more (I know my brother pays over $100 with his discount), I'm getting back the cost of the phone in about a year. And then saving oodles of money if I say, keep it for two (most contract durations).

Do you get 4G through T-Mobile?

StraightTalk is $42 a month for unlimited data (with a soft 2 GB cap) and unlimited voice/texts.  I don't get visual voicemail and I can't do MMS texting.  Data access on my iPhone4 is sometimes sketchy so I'm not convinced their 4G coverage will compete with Verizon's.  For ~$100 more over the course of a 2 year contract I'm probably going to switch to Verizon.
