Well I for one am enjoying the show immensely still.

Me too.  I've read the books twice and the two most recent volumes are borderline awful (I think they're better if you read one of the fan-made compilations that combine them into one chronological book, but still nothing like the first three).  The show is taking some low-quality source material and making something entertaining out of it - a feat I wasn't sure could be accomplished.

30,000 is actually pretty cheap for L100s. Not too bad.

Down to ~21,000 now.  I'm very surprised - I expected the price to rise over time but after an initial bump it's been dropping steadily.  I guess I overestimated how much gold most players have - with garrisons it's really, really easy to make gold.

I use Consumer Cellular because my girlfriend works there and gets $100 credit each month.  I don't know what we would pay but I know it would be less than $100 a month for our 2 iPhones with I think 3 GB of shared data.

Moving my WoW install from my rotational hard drive to my SSD cut load times by 2/3.  At least.  I've seen the same improvement in OOTP and Battlefield4.

The difference for me is dramatic and there's no going back.

Same, but I lose my free HBO in another year. Isn't HBO $20/month on cable? If so, I wonder if they will lower cable prices so they can compete with set top boxes.

I'm paying $19.99 a month to Comcast for it.  I'll be switching as soon as I watch the first episode of Game of Thrones on the new service and verify it's not crap.

Well, the upgraded the 13" model including the new touchpad but I'm not sure they upgraded the 15" model at all.

A little disappointing since we have a client who needs a new one - I told them to wait to order until after this event but I guess that was pointless.

Had a meeting a few weeks back with the local Apple Business rep.  There were 4 of us there and toward the end he asked what we thought about the Apple watch.

After a round of shrugs he admitted he didn't really understand the appeal, either.

EDIT - a new AppleTV, with HBO streaming for $14.99 a month?  Yes please!

I switched from Backblaze to Crashplan because the latter supports backing up NAS - as long as you're running Linux or OSX.

I can't speak for Ron but I'm back playing for the first time since 2011.

For me I quit because of burnout and dissatisfaction with the idea of the Panda expansion.  Garrisons turned out to be the hook that drew me back in and the level 90 boost that allowed me to catch up to current content sealed the deal.

Also, once you put any sort of case onto the phone (even the minimal Apple ones for example) it'll strengthen the case itself dramatically.

And of course make the device that much bigger.

The 5S is about as big as I want my phone to get.  I'll probably wring another couple of years out of it before I look for a replacement.  Hopefully by then Apple will again offer a phone for those who don't want to carry around a huge device.

Can't imagine how you can say he vigorously enforces immigration law with a straight face.

Yeah that's just crazy

But deportations of unauthorized immigrants continue at record levels. In 2011 some 392,000 immigrants were removed from the U.S., according to the Department of Homeland Security. Among them, 48% were deported for breaking U.S. laws, such as drug trafficking, driving under the influence and entering the country illegally.

The Obama Administration has deported more immigrants annually than the George W. Bush Administration.

LOL  from Moliere's link:

This confusion enables political spin, too. If you want to portray Obama as weak on enforcement, use the removal numbers, which, compared to his predecessors, are lower. If you want to make Obama look tougher on enforcement, combine the return and removal numbers (like George W. Bush apparently did)

So, if you use a different measure than W. did Obama's numbers are worse!   retard

November 2005, eh?

I was married and we were struggling with our 5 month old's inability to sleep through the night.

Since then I've lost my wife to cancer and dealt with raising a now-8 year old myself.  I've loved and lost and now find myself in love again with an amazing woman who shares many of my nerdy hobbies.  I didn't get a Ps3 until several years after launch and it's now a dedicated BluRay player as all my gaming takes place on the PC.

It's been a very eventful 8 years.

I'm completely content with PC gaming at the moment. My rig, while not cutting edge, still plays most things at top or near-top settings, and the games are plentiful and cheap (wake me when Humble Bundles come to the console).

I've never been a day-1 console buyer but I'm not feeling any desire for the new systems.  My Ps3 hasn't been turned on in months and that was to watch a BluRay movie.  I'm amazingly content with PC gaming.

Although my tune may change next spring when the new version of MLB: The Show appears.  Why can't we have an action baseball game for the PC?   crybaby

Surprised at the tepid response, I actually loved last night's episode.  Yeah it was more of the same in some sense, but I found it riveting, possibly because I really wasn't sure who was going to survive.

I was so bored with the first half of the episode that I started folding laundry while watching it.

Things picked up but I never really felt anyone was in real danger.  I think they need to off a long-time character soon because there's no real tension any more.

I wish they had separated out the options.  I turned off the motion thing when iOS 7 came out because I didn't want the device using up battery to detect I was moving my iPad to make the parallax effect thing move, but I actually like the transitions.  Now those transitions are gone because I turned it off for the other reason.

agreed % 110. I also liked the 'fly in effect'
to get it back:
settings / general / accessibility / reduce motion. turn it off if you want the icon animation.

What's worse is you can't turn it off on an iPhone4 - since the parallax effect isn't compatible with that model they don't give you access to the "Reduce Motion" option.

I can turn it off on my work 5 but not my personal 4.

it's funny, I never even noticed the zoom effect until I sat down and looked for it the other night.

It bothered me at first. I don't notice it now I am so used to it. It's not so slow that it bothers me.

The most recent iOS patch removes the ridiculous ZOOMing if you turn on Reduce Motion in accessibility options.

So I have a hard time calling it a "game" so to speak.  It's a focused learning tool really that just took the way rock band showed music and reimagined it as another way to read music.  There isn't any failing in the song mode.  There is a minigame area that has games that work by having you practicing certain things (chords, running scales, etc.)

I felt like the first Rocksmith tried too hard to be a game.  For 2014 they made the correct choice to present it as a learning tool and it's a better product for it.

I am sure that you will memorize the songs and be able to play outside the game.  That's how learning guitar works to be honest.  At first you need the transcription, but over time you don't.

Prior to getting the original Rocksmith last year I had never held a guitar before.  Now I annoy my daughter all the time by playing the riffs from "Boys Don't Cry" or "Where is My Mind" over and over.

If you're at all interested in learning guitar I recommend picking it up.   thumbsup
