If your Mom uses an Iphone or more than one computer, I highly recommend Roboform. It syncs all your data across platforms so I am never without my passwords. In addition, it autofills your logins, generates passwords, etc... Can't recommend it enough. There is a demo and the first year is only $9.99. I love it. http://www.roboform.com/

Really Sony? Talk about milking the cow. I mean slimmer is nice and all, but to offer it at full price with no added features? I guess if I had upgraded to a slimmer house recently, I might be convinced to buy this slimmer PS3.

I'd also note this is a less ambitious type of project... it's another game in the vein they made like 5 of already... so a lower risk factor.
I agree and I think you and TiLT make good points. The support from gamers thus far is really astounding. Hopefully publishers will see that they don't always know best and this and other fan funded projects can bring about a gaming renaissance. $1,455,482 with 29 days to go. Wow.

Goddammit, I'm officially addicted. And I have papers due...
Seriously. I hope they make an iPad version, I want to take this thing on the road with me. I think it would translate fairly well, too.
Gawd, you are right. This screams IPAD me!

You only need to know a bit about what goes on in the business and who these people are. Punishing them for Stardock's mistakes is blatant ignorance, in my opinion, and I don't say that to offend.
Sure sounds like a personal attack to me. I don't know why you choose to go there, but I won't. All I'm saying is that I choose to purchase a game after release. Much like I make most other purchases in life. That way you know what you are getting. Makes sense to me. I'm not punishing anyone or trying to thwart any game designers efforts. I've been playing computer games for more than 35 years and have seen all kinds of things in the gaming/computer/publishing industry. I don't think I am being ignorant in my choice not to pre-pay for an unmade game. Just my 2 cents.

Obsidian is a company with numerous well-known and respected developers and designers who've been behind some of gaming's most cherished franchises and who have a track record of producing outstanding games in record time, despite bugs. They've been around for ages and are much loved, for good reason. Ok, first off, Gal Civ 1 & 2 were pretty successful games and they are still played today by lots of people. Second, if Obisidian is so terrifically wonderful, it seems odd that they need to raise $1 million upfront to go forward with this. They are saying 2014 release...that's a long way in advance. This isn't a Stardock game. Your experiences with Elemental are irrelevant.
Irrelevant? Pay money up-front for a game to be released far in the future from a group of people who made previously successful titles. Hmm, seems like the same situation to me. All I'm saying is that too many games with lots of hype and big promises end up falling short. I'll gladly pay $50 for a well reviewed and good game, but don't really want to pay $20 for the "promise" of a good game. That's just me....but like I said, I have yet to get $50 worth of playtime from Elemental or it's sequel and I paid my money YEARS ago.

As great as this looks and sounds, I really learned my lesson with Elemental. I paid for it some 18 months before release...waited months for the supposed patches to make it playable (but not fun or worth my pre-order) and now the promised "free" sequel has the potential to be vaporware. I think I will just wait for release and read some reviews..maybe play the demo then hop on the bandwagon.

Have you played Just Cause 2? It's not an exclusive but it sure is good! I really enjoyed Assasins Creed 2, Demons Souls and have heard great things about Dragons Dogma.
I second the recommendation for playstation plus. $49.99 buys you a year, plus gobs of free and top notch games right now...plus the promise of more free and discounted games in the future.

I just finished the game single player with Purna (the guns chick). I had heard that guns weren't used much in the beginning and that turned out to be dead on. For the first 3/4 of the game ammo was hard to come by and most of the shooting was done during her Fury attack. At the end of the game, there was plenty of ammo and I was able to switch to pretty much guns only. I had heard that the game was difficult to play solo (there is no difficulty choice) and there were times when I died a bunch. But the penalty for death is small and I persevered. I think if I had chosen a different character I would have had less deaths in the beginning. At the end of the game there were a couple of areas where it seemed like I was constantly overwhelmed and didn't have much of a chance solo. It took multiple deaths to get through.
I thought the game was great fun. I probably had about 40 hours into it by the end and I had completed many of the side quests. I really enjoyed it and may actually restart with the swords specialist just to see how that is. The only thing is, it left me wanting for more single player RPG zombie goodness. If this game had been made as a single player survival RPG it would have had the potential to be an A+ title. Imagine if they threw away the multiplayer stuff and made the world persistent and fully explorable from the beginning. Get rid of the respawning zombies and replace with wandering ones...Put in real choices for you to make that effect the world....remove the soda can health model and instead you scrounge around looking for food, weapons, ammo, batteries..a way off the island. They could add a day/night cycle. It would actually be scary and dark at night in the game. Do you go out at night to fetch something and use up precious batteries...risk the unseen zombies? Do you wait for daylight where you can be easily seen? Crafting new weapons and discovering combinations to create crazy new weapons? You set up a safe house and risk zombie hordes attacking at night?
Holy moly...it would be epic.

I don't know what to think about these reviews. The demo didn't impress me much but many of the reviewers love it. Personally I'm having a hard time thinking that an RPG can get 90+ review scores when comments are made by the reviewer such as: "Quests aren’t much more than FedEx or “kill X number of enemies”". I understand it has other good qualities but for an RPG it seems like quests quality is essential to be considered a great RPG.

Looks promising. The developer didn't reveal too much exciting about the game other than it's inspiration is MoM, Civ games and Majesty. I'll be watching this one and Fallen Enchantress.
Why is it so hard to just redo MoM and get it right? I mean how many years has it been and what good fantasy world builders do we have?

I went back and played as a mage. Still didn't grab me. I'm going to wait on reviews, but for now it's a bargain bin purchase on this one. Don't get me wrong, it looks very nice, has great production values, good art direction, nice voice acting, seems like a decent plot. It just didn't make me want to play more. I suggest everyone try the demo before you buy it... you may love it, but maybe not.

I played the demo up to where is said "you now have 45 minutes to play." but unfortunately they had already lost my interest and I didn't continue. I guess I might try it again now that I know the rest of the game is more "open world". The tower part was a snooze fest for me. Looked pretty, ran smooth, boring as all get out. And what's with the archery system? How do you aim?

I am trying not to get excited about this one. I really was disappointed with EWOM and lost interest in it after they tried in vain to fix it. But from feedback like this, it's hard not to think this one might be great.

[Update] THQ's chief spokesperson has issued a statement denying the rumor that it has canceled its 2014 projects.
"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO. As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets. As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward. Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business. We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry."
I can't imagine that cancelling upcoming projects would help you attract buyers. Seems like this is just a rumor. THQ has made some great games....they better stay in business!
