I'm really interested in seeing this one.  I think I may go see it Monday since I took the day off work and the theater should be a bit less crowded then (I hate loud, crowded theaters).

If you like a different side of Will Ferrell, try renting Winter Passing.  He is different but equally funny in a quirky way in that one.

I remember playing a game like that years and years ago when I took a "Keyboarding" class in Jr High, except that one was a little more Space Invaders and less Smash TV.  Honestly, it was a great way to motivate us to practice our typing skills since we were always trying to beat each other's scores.

Sorry if this is a bit off, I don't actually own the game yet.  I see a bit of complaining about the party AI and controls and such, I thought this was mostly a single character game.  Am I wrong?  I've never been big on trying to control a bunch of characters and I think that would kill the game for me, especially if the AI is bad and you have to manually control everybody.

According to the information at thier site, they have changed the main server and you need to download this patch for it to work.  Good luck!

I'm not positive about that one, but I would think that as long as they haven't registered the serial number online with their gamertag, name and address it would be fine.  I can't find any specific information about this on the site and they are very vague even about what the "limited time offer" is when you can sign up for it.  I think your best bet may be to call MS yourself (1-800-4MY-XBOX) and see if it would be a problem.

Apologies if this was mentioned earlier, but has anyone run GoW using the VGA connector to a monitor? Any problems? I'd love to get it, but until they release a demo I'm leery of any VGA problems.

Evidently there is an aspect ratio problem if you are using the VGA adapter and a 4:3 monitor.  I expect it will be patched but no ETA as far as I know.

I mentioned this above a ways, but like Kevin said, at resolutions above 640x480 it squishes the screen into a double widescreen thing just like Lego Star Wars 2 does.  And, like that game (and PGR3) don't expect to see this officially acknowledged, let alone patched any time soon.  I am seriously frustrated at the lack of support on these issues.

I have three days with nearly nothing to do so I will be slogging my way through Gears of War and undoubtedly playing more BF2142.  It is ironic that the game I didn't want to buy in the first place (BF) is getting more time and giving me more fun than Gears which I have been anticipating for quite a while.  C'est la vie.
9933  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360]Gears of War-Impressions on: November 10, 2006, 03:59:45 PM
So far I have to say that I'm not all that impressed with what I have played of the single player.  Don't get me wrong, it's is very beautiful and seems pretty polished and such, but it just seems like another shooter.  Maybe it's because I've just been playing other ones like Black and F.E.A.R., but the one thing I notice is that hardly anything can be shot-up or destroyed.

I also don't like how there is the delay between when you hit the 'A' button and when your guy actually does something.  You have to hold it down just to start running, or just to take cover.  Something tells me that if they had just had seperate buttons for a couple actions it would have worked out a bit better.  I also dislike how the "roadie run" makes you pretty much go in a straight line.  Are you telling me that just because he is moving forward a little faster he can't turn?  Is he a fucking tank?

I guess it comes down to the fact that I was really excited to play the game and now that I have it I don't find myself drawn back to it.  That is the halmark of a great game to me, and this just isn't doing it.  I'm sure I will keep playing a bit this weekend, but I can't say I'm too happy with my $60 purchase so far.

+ The web browser can open up to 6 pages simultaneously. 64MB memory is always reserved for the browser, the instant messenger and other XMB OS activity even while in game.

And that is supposed to be a good thing?  Couldn't they have just dumped that memory to the hard drive when you start a game so you have maximum memory available for game use?  I mean, it's not like I would buy a PlayStaion to play games or anything, right?   retard

January 30th for home users, this month for businesses.

Since they abandoned the new file system and such I can't see any real reason to upgrade.  I was hoping for increases in performance and efficiency and for the most part all it seems like is an interface overhaul.  I honestly don't give a shit about a useless 3D GUI if all it is going to do is take up more resources and slow my system down.

Is anybody else running this on a VGA adapter on a 4:3 monitor?  I'm having the same problem as a couple other games (Lego Star Wars 2, PGR3) in that if I go above 640x480 in normal resolutions it gives me double widescreen bars so the visuals are squished into the middle third of the screen.  It's as if the system tells it to limit the display to the widescreen area and then the game itself is putting in another set of black bars and limiting itself within that smaller area.  If I try running in a widescreen resolution it stretches the whole thing to fit the monitor with no black bars (as I would expect).  Stupid system, just work!

according to my nearest Gamestop just outside Hartford, CT, my copy of the CE is still sitting at a FedEx station in Tennessee, and noone else in the area has any copies of the game yet either.  i checked several places in the immediate area and came up empty...BestBuy got their copies in but supposedly sold out about 10 minutes before i walked in the door  icon_mad

We had the same problem in this area: all the GameStop/EB's are reporting "an unforseen shipping problem" so I stopped in at Circuit City and they had the same thing.  I wanted to pick up the Cars DVD (with free poster) for my nephew so I went to Best Buy and they had a bunch.  Of course, they just implemented a new system where they keep their 360 games in a lockup cage by the registers and there was no signs or empty cases of Gears so unless you ask you wouldn't even know it was in.  Dorks.

Needless to say I grabbed one.  icon_biggrin

What's the deal with the Cog tags?  Are they for unlocking something or just Achievements or what?

I have seen those figures mentioned on various sites (such as NewLaunches or ZDNet) and I am assuming that it means the power supply is 380W in the PS3.

There are some elements that match fairly well between the two (jawline, lips, mustache, nose, hairline), but the one thing that is significantly different is the large wrinkles/folds in the cheeks of the drawing.

Certainly not a spot-on depiction (are they ever?), but close enough for a little bit of light-hearted internet humor.

I just had to ressurect this thread since I finished the game earlier today.  I waited until it was available on Telltale's site and just bought the whole season and will have them ship out the CD when it's available.

I really enjoyed it and it brought back memories of the good ol' days playing the classic adventure games.  The graphics were sharp and colorful, the controls were solid, the puzzles were pretty well thought out and the dialog was classic Sam & Max.  There were a few points where I chuckled to myself.  Not quite like the laughs the first game brought out, but there were other factors at play back then.  Besides, this is only the appetizer, right?

The voice acting was mostly good, but some of Sam's deliveries could have been better and Brady Culture stuck out as being below par.

The length wasn't bad at all.  Of course it was shorter than a regular game and I would have loved to keep going, but for $6 or so it delivered the goods.  It was short enough to finish but long enough to be fun, and has whet my appetite for the next episodes.

Sadly so - I can't say when, but I went there with the 823rd RED HORSE.  I think our President is a lunatic, but that doesn't change the fact that he hasn't used chem/bio weapons on the Mexicans to exterminate them like Saddam's son was ordered to do with the Kurds..  (yet)

Why does MS allow EA to run their own servers? Can/do other companies do this?

EA is the only company that can and does do this.  It was part of the agreement that was reached between Microsoft and EA to get EA's games with multiplayer on Live a couple years back.  EA did not want to go with the regular system controlled by Microsoft mostly because they want to be able to discontinue servers and support for their games after a couple years when there are new versions out.  Because of EA's huge influence on the market it was in Microsoft's best interest to get them to put multiplayer on their XBox versions otherwise all the sports/racing/whatever nuts would buy the PS2 versions to play online.

The 7th is the date that EB/GameStop also list, so chances are you might see it this week.  I have heard that the wheel is shipping with the enhanced version of PGR3 and also that a dowload will be made available for those who already have the game.

MS's site also says that there is full force feedback support in NFS: Carbon and Test Drive Unlimited.  And of course Forza 2, which has been pushed to next year.
