You won't be when you get it.

Kung Fu Chaos is a better game. Too bad it's not on the backwards compatible list.

What on earth does Viva Pinata Party Animals have to do with Kung Fu Choas?
9722  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: New X-Files on: February 25, 2008, 12:41:26 AM
I always loved the X-Files episodes that had nothing to do with their main storyline.  The other episodes got old pretty quickly with nothing ever really being revealed.  I'm sure I will see this on DVD or something, though.

Every key on the keyboard is an individual OLED display. You can assign images to each key and so forth, and every key is macroable.

And it's fifteen hundred freaking dollars!  A keyboard more expensive than my computer itself is useless.

Must have been a short-time offer, because it's back up to $30 from what I see.
9725  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Console games you want to love but can't on: February 23, 2008, 07:34:19 AM
God of War.  The new PSP demo just proved to me again how much I dislike these games despite really wanting to enjoy them.  Tons of the same old boring button mashing, stupid Dragon's Lair "minigame" button timing crap, making me walk across a tiny board when I have no control over the camera, boss fights where they gain back nearly all of their health if I don't hit the right button... so much potential ruined by these shitty elements.
9726  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: MMO keynote roundtable discussion at GDC on: February 22, 2008, 08:47:58 PM
I don't think that anyone is saying the runaway success of WoW is slowly destroying the MMO genre (at least not that I read), but more of a case where it is very hard to compete against that 800lb gorilla.  And now that it's been out for a few years, patched, fixed and expanded upon that is an even bigger challenge.  People tend to forget that even though WoW has always been great, it had several problems early on that took quite a while to fix, not to mention all of the things that have been added and tweaked.

Not many companies can afford to have a couple hundred people working for 3 or 4 years to develop something which can compete with that game.  Hopefully that fact will actually drive them to look at what other angle they can approach the MMO market from, rather than trying to directly compete.
9727  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTRO 9.99 referral? on: February 21, 2008, 07:04:07 AM
I think he was referring to the Founder's pricing, which was always $9.99 and you could refer friends who would get the same price.

Unfortunately I'm not a Founder, but I jumped on the holiday price of $9.99 if you get 3 months at a time.  They are now running the same sort of deal, except you have to sign up for 6 months at a time.

I really like the art direction and the graphics, it looks like a living comic book.

Honestly I think some of those shots look a lot like Crackdown.  Not that that is a bad thing, and the one with the tangled web stuff looks very comic book-ish and cool.

I think that's actually a good idea for the XBLA game tied to Fable 2.  I could see putting some time into that to earn in-game money if it's cool.

Hopefully this time they are able to actually finish Gears, otherwise I say screw their November release dates.

Well, first off it is going to suck, but if it doesn't do you really imagine that in this day and age of constant repeats and transfers to DVD that you wouldn't get a second chance to see it?  It's not like there's a lot of freshly written shows going to take it's time spot (or the 20 others that are all showing reruns).

Thanks gellar.  So, I've never downloaded a demo for my PSP before.  How do I, you know, get it on the PSP?

Here's the directions swiped directly from the PSP Fanboy demos page (also check out there for more PSP downloads).

1. Download the demo zip file.
2. Extract the contents of the zip file.
3. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
4. Go to the PSP/GAME folder.
5. Copy NPJG90016 (insert actual filename) folder into the GAME directory. Make sure there are no sub-directories in this folder.

My guess would be that they are just making new SKU's for new models or something, so they are selling out of these older ones to get rid of the ones with lower-quality parts.

I wish the vehicular combat genre would make a comeback, I drool over the idea of a Twisted Metal for PS3.

Well then I'm sure you were happy to hear that they're working on it.  Personally I used to love those games back in the PS1 days, but I don't know if I could play them as much now.  Trying to wrangle the crappy handling just got to me after a while.

Of course if it was an updated Interstate '76, I would buy that in a friggin heartbeat.

I would think that oatmeal is probably the healthier choice.  Personally I like putting raisins in it for a sweet taste that also has fiber.

Here's a random site that I found for nutrition info of Cream of Wheat.  They also have About 30 kinds of oatmeal listed, depending on if it's the instant stuff, quick-oats, natural, whatever.

I LOVE human tetris!!! Best show ever.  I don't know if Americans could do it as well as Japanese though.

I'm scared about how they'll americanize and foxize the show. Not that I know anything about it but what I've seen on youtube, but I don't really want 3 minute interviews with hulk hogan and a pre-tentious contestant, cuts to commercials when you see the holes... comments like 'she made it through the 10,000 dollar hole, but if she makes it through this hole she'll get 25,000. But if she fails, she'll go all the way back down to 5,000.

Mark my words, it will be bastardized. Everything 'reality' on american based tv is.

Word.  Not to mention all the holes will have to be round to make way for our big, fat American asses.  slywink

That Gears of War fiasco must have affected more than just the Eastern US because I was in Washington (the state) and they had the same problem.  One of the few times I've preordered and also the last.

I've also had other cases where my preorder had not come in yet but I could go to a different store and buy it.  I generally say fuck preorders these days.

Another thought - isn't this the 3rd or 4th MMO that Microsoft said they'd publish and then backed out of?

I know that True Fantasy Online was their first, and then there was Vanguard, but I thought there was more between them...

They also cancelled Mythica in favor of Vanguard before they passed that one on.  I believe changes in management are largely believed to be behind the changes in priorities away from MMOs.

Yeah, the resolution isn't the best (to be frank, I have no idea what it puts out), but it's more than good enough to watch movies of any type.

I don't know why, but the resolution is a lot worse now for me than it was a few weeks ago.  The first time I tried it, it was near HD quality.  Last night, it was near youtube quality.  I did some tests on my internet connection and it seemed fine, so I don't get what's up.

Did you try it with the same movie?  There could be a good chance that some movies were transferred from a worse source or encoded at a lower quality.

Ready 2 Rumble, anyone?  I had to laugh to myself reading the preview for this one how they were saying that they were trying to be so original and avoid cliches while touting characters like a slimy latin lothario and a burly, bald military guy.  Oooh, brilliant!  No wonder they can only come up with 12 of them.

I'm always a fan of physics puzzle type games, so this is a no brainer.  The fact that it is something I can also share with my niece and nephew is icing on the cake.

On a similar (but totally unrelated) topic, I really enjoyed Blast Miner by the same guy(s) that did Bridge Builder, Gish, etc.  I'd love to see some games like that make it to XBLA.
