Just buy the absolutely most-expensive cable you can find and you should be fine.  If it's really expensive, you know it's better.

Hehe, sorry.  Just wanted to give some people around here a heart attack.

My new GFW mag has a big multipage preview of it and reveals the 3rd faction. Still have'nt read it though.

Ugh, I want to know what the third faction is.  I cannot wait for this game to come out.  I hope they don't screw it up.

If you really must know, to quote from the magazine:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Tiberium Wars' third faction is revealed: Tiberium-hungry biomechanical aliens.  The Global Defense Initiative treats them as foes.  The Brotherhood of Nod welcomes them as visitors.  The truth's probably somewhere in between.

Little did I know that Express Mail is actually delivered "to most locations 365 days a year, including Sundays and holidays at no extra charge".  I've never seen or heard of anyone getting something delivered on a Sunday or holiday.
9724  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: SIN Episodes... over? on: December 17, 2006, 08:44:29 PM
Yeah, this wouldn't surprise me considering that the first episode was mediocre and from all appearances not too well received and there have been numerous staff departures mentioned in the last month or so.

Plus, unless you are Valve, it's hard to get away with releasing episodes a year apart.
9725  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Something I've always wondered about on: December 17, 2006, 08:39:34 PM
Yeah, I was going to say that of course years ago nobody worked on Sundays, and the Postal Worker's Union would likely want to keep it that way.

It does surprise me that competing companies like UPS don't expand to deliver then, because they would open up a new market and certainly endear themselves to many households.  It may have to do with the government laws regarding the postal statutory monopoly and restrictions it applies on them.

9728  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Retail demand for PS3 dropping below supply level? on: December 16, 2006, 03:39:21 AM
The price has a major impact on parents that are buying gifts for kids.  $250 with included games is much more manageable than the PS3 equation.  I'm willing to bet that the majority of people more excited about the PS3 are 20-35 year old males who would be buying it for themselves.

Take your Terminator talk to the appropriate thread.

So, as for this new Die Hard...that trailer did not look especially great.  Here's a clue: shooting a fire extinguisher is not going to make a flaming explosion.  Cause it puts out fires.  That's it's job.  CG car crashes can rot in hell, too.

For single player that was it.  There is a multiplayer demo that came out within the last month or so.  I thought the single player demo was fun and I look forward to playing the full game, but I don't think I'm super excited about it.  Especially after getting the impression that the story seems to be in very lengthy, Japanese-y cutscenes.  For some reason those really turn me off.

Glad to see the Soul Calibur 2 also made the list, that is one of the few games I can get my non-hardcore friend to play (the other is Burnout 3, which made the cut last time and just got updated).  I wouldn't mind revisiting MX Unleashed either.  Good times!

I haven't had any problems with Black, whatsoever.  In fact, I found it to be one of the more impressive BC updated titles.  There doesn't seem to be anything in the "Known Issues" section of the Xbox.com BC section.

Not to say you haven't had problems, though.

It does look impressive, that is for sure. Too bad it's rather buggy and gets worse the farther you get in the game. It's like they got it to work....but then didn't play past the first couple levels thinking it was fine.

I'm like Bullwinkle in that I didn't have any problems at all with Black on my 360.

Funny enough this actually gives me hope that someday Microsoft will quit half-assing their BC updates and continue getting the real games available. That's not take anything away from Big Mutha Truckers mind you but it's still great to hear that Buffy, Burnout 3, Destroy All Humans, and Psychonauts are soon to be BC.

Burnout 3 made the BC list on the last update, thankfully, and one of the Buffy Games (Chaos Bleeds) has been on there for a while.
9745  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Have you had XBox 360 problems? on: December 13, 2006, 03:38:53 PM
My box has just started acting funny in the last week or so.  I've been playing Fable and getting occasional lockups which I first assumed was emulation problems or something.  Now the last couple times I've been playing there has been some graphical corruption on the screen which leads me to believe there is a heat issue.  I haven't changed where I keep the console or power brick and it has plenty of open air so I'm not sure what the problem is unless the fans aren't working or something (it's not noisy at all).  But I don't suppose I can open it up myself and still get support from Microsoft.

Argh, if this thing craps out on me I'm going to be uber pissed!  Especially since I will have to send it back to MS, and during the holidays no less!

Well they put the trees back in Sea-Tac.  And to clear things up, the paper today said that the rabbi didn't request that they pull down the Christmas trees, he just wanted the right to put up the menorah also.  He/they will not be suing (which was a threat used after weeks of getting stonewalled), but Sea-Tac officials are apparently still not going to be putting up a menorah and have said "We'll talk next year".  Way to go, guys.

My only problem with B&N is that it costs $25 for their 10% off membership, which means you have to buy at least $250 worth of books in a year to make it worthwhile and their books are usually more expensive than you can find elsewhere.  Yes, you get those emails with 30% off select books and crap, but they are usually just a few hardcover versions of mass-market crap I don't want anyway.

I honestly don't understand why they don't just copy the Achievements concept wholesale.  I think that Achievements are absolutely brilliant, and I know I'll miss them when I finally do get a PS3 if they don't implement something similar.

I agree.  to completionists, it's a major draw surprisingly

The problem is that with the 360 this was a system-wide decision made well before launch.  Sony could patch similar functionality into their system for future game releases but when there aren't standards on points or it isn't a mandatory inclusion in every game it loses some of it's draw.  I don't want this to turn into an anti-Sony post or anything, but I do have to give Microsoft props for some well though-out and implemented elements in the overall package.  Surprising, really.

What sort of headset do you guys use with your PS3?  I haven't seen any advertised or shown (Sony branded or otherwise), and I found that pretty odd.
