Maybe it's just my love for heist flicks (especially Heat), but I really want this one to be great.  That video certainly didn't improve my opinion of the game, but there are times when I root for the underdog and really enjoy a game despite things like bad acting/script work.

I've got The Simpsons Game to finish up on my 360, HL2: Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2 to play on my PC, and I've been enjoying some Dungeon Siege on my PSP.  Then there's all the other games from the last couple months that I still haven't finished...

So....Ladies.  I've never understood this.   Do you not look at the toilet seat before you sit down?   I understand the asthetic quality of leaving the seat and lid down.  But I don't get the idea of someone falling in.

I have to agree.  Obviously men are capable of checking whether the seat is down when they need to take a seat, I'm not sure why it's so hard for some women.

I grew up sharing a bathroom with an older sister, though, so I quickly learned it is better to just put the seat down than to argue about it.  It took a couple years of living on my own before I finally broke the habit of automatically putting it down again.

The only new show I've watched this season is Pushing Dasies, but I have enjoyed it.  I'd like to see it continue.

Yeah, I love Steven Wright.  His new album is up on EMusic so I've downloaded about half of it and I'm waiting for next month to get the rest (only had 6 songs left for the month when I found it).

Mitch Hedberg was also pretty good with his unique delivery.  Too bad he went and died.

We used to have a couple of those little floor rockers in my parents' basement years ago when I still lived there.  Ours didn't have sound or anything, but they were very comfortable and my stepbrother and I spent many hours gaming in them.  I also rocked over my fingers numerous times because I'm a dumbass.

Someone should put together a website called "My Four Cents" where people can contribute to the WGA's fund or however it's arranged ... 4 for every DVD disc they own. I'd cough up my few bucks. It could be a good show of support to the lousy studio suits.

I was thinking the same thing and I would contribute a couple bucks.  Obviously not everyone would feel like contributing, and you'd have to give more than 4 cents just to cover processing fees, but even if people only gave a couple dollars I'm sure it would add up quickly.  At least cover some legal costs or something.
9569  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Assassin's Creed thread - brought to you by Jade Raymond on: November 08, 2007, 04:44:46 AM
She's not even the producer, she's a producer.  They have several.  She's a pretty face that they decided to be their public face for the game.  I'm sure the other 150 people working on the game are happy that you think she is "making what looks to be a great game" so they can slack off.

I think the idea of remote play on the PSP is absolutely awesome, but I question how games that fully utilize the PS3 controller can be controlled on the PSP without the second stick and shoulder buttons.  I really hope they can get some cool things going over that, though.  At the very least it might be a great way to play the PSNetwork downloadable games or something.

To return a game all you would have to do is tell them that it won't work and you would like a new copy.  Then you return the new copy for a refund.  Simple as pie.

An interview with Bill Roper that partially addresses some of the concerns/problems people have with the game.   Or talks around them, at least.

I'm kinda stoked for Burnout Paradise.

I forgot about that one.  I just hope that the open-world doesn't totally kill the Burnout vibe.  It doesn't seem like a natural extension of the series to me.

wouldn't it have made more sense for them to do episode 1?

Probably, but they're not extremely linked between episodes, and they got better after the first few.  I think they just wanted to showcase the higher quality stuff to represent what they accomplished in the first season and what will be in the upcoming second one.

In general I don't consider it the "holiday season" until Thanksgiving and after.  However, since I have to send a lot of my gifts over the border (and through customs) into Canadialand for my sister's family, I usually have to finish most of my gift shopping by the end of November anyway.

Because everything I've seen of Fracture makes it look like a mediocre game with a not so great unique selling point.  I'd be surprised if it gets much notice at all.

I'm not sure what would be my most anticipated title and I don't even know the full list, but here's a few I'm looking forward to:

Grand Theft Auto IV
Mercenaries 2
Just Cause 2
Alan Wake
Too Human
Viking: Battle for Asgard
Far Cry 2

I played several hours of The Simpsons Game on my 360.  Despite some mediocre gameplay mechanics, I am compelled to play because of it's classic Simpsons humor and satirical levels.

I also played some 360 demos: Virtua Fighter 5 (not really my bag, but I didn't give it much time to learn) and Scene It (maybe if I had more occasions to play it than once a year).
9588  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/5) (The real post) on: November 05, 2007, 02:30:13 PM
I'd be interested in Viva Pinata for the PC if it includes the ability to change the speed of the game.  I can imagine that the mouse interface would greatly help, too.

I might pick up Call of Duty 4 for the 360, but I want to try a single player demo first.

I caved and bought the HD-DVD add-on for the 360.  Since it now comes with the Season 1 Heroes HDDVD along with the 5 titles I couldn't resist.

that's a regular deal now?  oh so tempting....

It's actually $165 with Heroes, King Kong and remote with free shipping at Buy.com, but it says the deal ends today (11/4/07).  Had I not bought so many new "toys" in the last couple months I would probably jump on it, but games take priority for this season.

D'oh, you're right.  It was Mario & Sonic Olympics I saw in this ad, not Mario Galaxy.  I still can't believe that they would give out $25 for a game that will likely sell tons anyway.
9593  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: $25 TRU gift card when you buy Mario Galaxy on: November 04, 2007, 04:36:36 PM
This seems too good to be true, and I just checked my local weekly ad and this deal is not in it.  Mario Galaxy is listed at normal price of $49.99 and the only giftcard deal is a $10 GC if you buy $75 in total.

As far as I know both programs allow you to disable starting with Windows within themselves.  For Steam just go to File->Settings then the Interface tab and unclick "Run Steam when Windows starts".  There is something very similar from within Messenger (in the Preferences or something) but I don't have it installed to tell you exactly where it is.

They haven't revealed any details on the whole main story, but they've been "slipping" small things here and there with some modern/futuristic tech stuff and mentions of genetic memory.

As an aside, Jade Raymond may be attractive but she sucks at talking about the game.

So how are you liking the Marketplace subscription thing, warning?  Do you think it's going to be something that you continue?

For me it seemed like it would be really cool for a little bit to fill up my Zune, but after that I don't know that there would be enough new music for me to want to keep it up.  Also, I would like to own any albums that I really like so I can listen to them anytime and not lose them if I unsubscribe.

Yeah, game rentals are expensive these days.  If I rent I get them at Blockbuster because you effectively get them for two weeks since they have their "No late fees" thing that gives you two weeks until you will be charged for the full game (and then credited it back minus a restocking fee if you return it).

9599  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Simpsons Impressions? on: November 03, 2007, 07:20:09 PM
Quick impressions after maybe an hour and a half (did a couple episodes and lots of wandering around, checking stuff out and getting collectables) is that I'm pretty sure Hit & Run was the better game.  Obviously this is supposed to be more of a beat-em-up/platformer, but the camera sucks, the controls just aren't quite right and there are quite a few annoyances.  Very mediocre platforming, and I've played my share of those.  I can definitely see why this is getting 70%.

On the plus side it's full of all the humor and characters from the show, with many references to past episodes.  It was great to just be running down the street past Karl and hear him singing the Stonecutters song!

Is is possible to go back and do old episodes somehow?  I missed 3 of the beer caps in the Land of Chocolate but don't know how to get back there.  Hell, I have no idea where more of them could be hidden in that little level anyway.
