Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WOW-Which freakin' realm am I in?

First off, know that you can sort the realms by any of the headings up top, so to find the one(s) with your character(s) click on the characters tab and it should sort by the ones that have the most on them.
Sadly, I have also noticed that often my secondary character on a different server is often not listed in that server brower even though I get him if I go into that specific server.

TIP: Reload = hold R then press B. Turn around fast=Down on control stick + B.
Is it just me, or should something like Reload have it's own single button press. I mean, the whole game is walking around shooting shit, I should be able to hit B and reload. (I haven't played the game yet, I'm just drawing this conclusion from the fact that I hate poorly concieved controls and this seems to be exactly that)

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: Play the Horde

On another positive note to playing the Horde is some silly stuff that probably isn't important to most:
3. The Undead Capital is the best Capital City in the game.
LD I hate, hate, HATE the Undercity. All of the capitals are a bit confusing when you first get there, but this city is just poorly designed, with mazes just to get to the actual entrance to the city. I haven't seen a less newb friendly area than this crap-hole.

Yeah, either that or they changed once upon a time and they never bothered to remove that part of the message. I know I have had numbers that I called for months in a row (such as the pharmacy's refill line) that had the same menu options but also had that stupid message every time.

You may want to change or add to the title of the thread to say "desktop" instead of background...I thought it was asking about my personal heritage or something.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Refurbished systems

EB does six month extended warranties on refurbished systems. If you're getting a PS2, even if you get a new one, get a warranty with it. The things have major issues. Not all of them break down, but an incredibly high percentage of them do go out at some point. Thanks, Chaz! Do you know off-hand if they charge extra for the 6-month warranty? I'll check out the EB near me and see what's up with them. Surprisingly I have 5 or 6 GameStops in pretty close driving distance, but only 1 EBX.

The PS2 has the three best platforming series this generation in Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, and Sly Cooper. Though if you aren't a fan of collect-a-thons I would skip the first Jak & Daxter. This is the exact reason I am trying to get myself a PS2 right now.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I don't know of anybody that offers a 6 month warranty like that; or at least not one that also sells used and refurbished units.
Maybe I'll just end up buying a new one, but I thought if I could save $30-40 that could buy me a few of the classics that I haven't gotten to play on the other systems.

Anybody here have experience with buying refurbished systems (specifically a PS2) from somewhere like GameStop? I realize this is the original model and not the new, smaller design but that doesn't matter to me at all (and I'm not personally a fan of the top-loading design). The only thing I'm concerned about would be reliability and customer service in case of a dead system. Actually, were there many problems reported with the non-first run original design of the PS2s? I had heard reports of problems with the very first run, and similarly with this new design but not much in between. If anybody has a good condition used one they'd like to get rid of I'd consider that, also (given they are an active CG/GG member and not in poor standing on the trades board). Or if there are any deals were I could trade in some of my cheapo XBox games and get a good deal on a PS2 that would be good, too.

How does Tales of Symphonia stack up in this comparison? I have a friend who is really into RPGs and he just got himself a GameCube and I thought he'd enjoy knowing which of these is the "best".

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW - Should I bother?

To address your one question, for the most part you can play for as long or as short as you want and then log out. You can start up, go kill some mobs to finish half of a collection quest, warp back to your home-inn, sell some goodies, log out and come back when you have more time. Or just check the auction house, do some crafting, sell your goodies and check back in later. The only exception with this are the Instanced quest dungeons which you sort of have to finish in one go. Those are not only optional but also come at a higher level once you have invested a bit of time in your character. If you don't feel like doing instance or Elite quests (or play solo and therefore can't adequately take them on until you are high enough level) there are tons of other quests to keep you busy and send you to new areas. But, of course, the game is so much fun that there is no way you can just play it for an hour and put it down.

The holiday bundle that we had at Target was a platinum cube, 2 platinum controllers and Mario Kart all for $99. Pretty friggin sweet deal to me. There should still be some around and I think some other stores had the same bundle (although I'm not sure which ones or if all of them did).

I"m no MMORPG fan by any means (I've tried a couple and never enjoyed them much except for a brief stint of City of Heroes) but I will tell you that right now I have Halo 2, Half-Life 2, the Painkiller expansion, Battle for Middle Earth and numerous other games just sitting around barely touched because I keep going back to WoW. It's just so much fun and it gains in depth the more you stay with it (or at least it did for me). It's consistently fun and if you need a change of pace/atmosphere you can just start up another character race and class and it's like a whole new game! Seriously. And I should mention that I was also in the last month of the open beta, and I haven't lost interest at all yet. If I were you I would certainly give it a shot.
As for Collector's Edition vs regular one, that's a toss-up. I bought the CE because I wanted the art book, making-of and commentary DVD and the extra pet was sort of a bonus. You also get the game on DVD and CD, so you can give one copy to the friend you give the 10 day trial to (or, like me, you can just use the 10-day trial for yourself and then sign up with your real CD key to get an extra week and a half for free). If you don't care about any of those extras then I guess you can just sell it and buy a regular version, but at this point you won't likely come out much ahead.
