Yeah, how did another thread become about lifetime return policies?

And since we're derailed, I think it's funny to see the hypocrasy of the biggest penny-pincher around to be promoting spending more "Premium" stores.  This is the same guy that buys $4 gallon cans of coffee and all of your clothes second hand?

How did they manage to not make Ghost Rider look bulky when he's in flaming skull form?  I mean, I totally disagree with Cage as a casting choice, but they could have salvaged it by at least making Ghost Rider look like, you know, a biker?

Also, what's with his skull looking perfectly bleached white?  I mean, come on, it's on fire.  Add in a little soot.

I think this movie looks like absolute shit, but as far as I know Ghost Rider was always pretty much normal guy sized (as far as Marvel goes, at least) and his skull has been white.

Out of that list I chose Stalker.

You could probably also add GRAW2 and C&C3 to that list since they're also scheduled to come out next month.

I will be continuing on with some Lord of the Rings Online beta action, and if my mouse hand is aching enough I will probably pop in Sly Cooper or God of War on the PS2.  I really freaking hate repetitive stress injuries, especially when it affects my gaming!

You could always try talking to her about it.  Just say that you noticed she doesn't seem to game much any more and you miss sharing that with her.  She should certainly have more valueable insight into the situation than an outsider.
9212  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Best, and worst, concert you've seen on: February 15, 2007, 03:55:13 AM
I don't think I have a worst concert, but some of the best:

Eels - Every concert is a different band (other than singer/songwriter E) and mood.  Blues rock four-piece, full horn backup, dual guitar garage rock three-piece, mellow string quartet with other multi-instrumentalists...always awesome no matter what.

Tom Waits - I think either you love him or you wouldn't be at one of his concerts.  A great showman.

Rage Against the Machine - um, they rocked.  They are getting back together to headline Coachella this year, I wish I could go.
9213  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gamespot Drops a 7.8 on Crackdown on: February 15, 2007, 03:28:10 AM
I'm not sure I would call this a most disappointing game of the year.  It's currently sitting at 84% at GameRankings and for me that is certainly an acceptable level.  I never expected this to set the world on fire, I am just looking for a fun game.  From what I played of the demo there is a pretty damn good chance it will be that for me.
9214  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Guitar Hero II on: February 15, 2007, 03:17:10 AM
Maybe, in time.  I haven't actually played either of the other two and I'm not a huge rhythm game fan so I don't know if they would grab me like everyone insists.  Plus, the non-original vocal tracks is a big negative for me.
9215  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Favorite All Time Games on: February 15, 2007, 03:13:27 AM
I don't keep a list, but here's some that come to mind (although I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting):

Interstate '76 (PC)
Grim Fandango (PC)
Sam & Max Hit the Road (PC)
Full Throttle (PC)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (PS1)
Doom (PC)
Grand Theft Auto 3 (PC)
World of Warcraft (PC)
Rune (PC)
Mega Man 2/3 (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)

As far as your last part about uber-guilds pre-ordering and hitting max level before the game even ships, I think they have stated that there will be a level cap applied to this but I can't seem to find it off hand.  But even if they do allow them to hit max level, how does that really affect me as an average player in any way?

I tried getting into this game a few weeks back and didn't think it was all that great.  Some parts of it were pretty damn cool, but others (camera, boss health system) did not sit well with me.  The fact that I haven't gone back to it yet certainly says something.

I'm will probably pick up the sequel, but not until it is used for a lower price.

9227  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTRO on: February 13, 2007, 03:42:06 AM
So far I think this is a pretty well done game in the same vein as WoW, but I have to agree with others that there are points where I just don't feel like I am in Middle-Earth.  I have tried out a human, a dwarf and a hobbit and have only gotten up to level 15 so that feeling may change as I get futher in the game.

As I kind of mentioned before, one of the things that I think is cool is the little Accomplishments system they have going.  As you complete certain tasks (maybe killing so many of an animal, not dying, completing all the quests in an area, using one of your special attacks, etc) you can gain Accomplishments.  At the first level for some they only give you a title (Bob the Wary or Jim, Spider-bane), but other ones (and those ones in further levels) give you Traits which you can apply to your character to give you bonuses to your stats.

One thing I hate is the nearly useless over-map.  It contains very little useable information and often doesn't even correspond accurately to the real terrain.
9228  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How fast can you type? on: February 13, 2007, 03:17:00 AM
Oddly enough I was just thinking about finding something like this the other day.  I don't think I've tested my WPM since back in the days of taking "keyboarding" class in jr high.

I'll have to wait a day or two since it just won't pull up and I'm impatient.

NONSENSE! You must consume! Be a good Consumer, people in charge demand it! Personally I don't like having too many Wiipoints or MS points sitting around so I try to use them as I can.

Yeah, because having them sitting around so you can use them later is worse than just blowing them on something that isn't so great and buying more points when you really want something in the future.   icon_confused
9230  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Bullet Witch on: February 13, 2007, 02:59:03 AM
EGM had this one in their round-up page for "games that were too late...or too little".  They didn't like it all that much:

Quote
This supernatural shooter, which we played a near-final version of, is one part Devil May Cry mixed with four parts superviolent shooter Gungrave (PS2), sans any trace of fun or challenge.  Stiff-as-corpse animation combines with choppy graphics and one of the most cumbersome magic interfaces we've ever seen.  The disappearing/reappearing graphics and linear levels only serve to affirm the game's reservation in bargain-bin hell.
Bottom Line: Bullet Witch looks like a PS2 game and is plagued with so many problems that it's not even worth playing for the easy Achievement points.

Funny. But to be fair, that interview from the latest EGM was done at the very beginning of January (which EGM acknowledged directly after the quote). There were definitely some PS3s out there, but not nearly as many as you can find today.

I can understand that, but even when I went in to Best Buy a few weeks back they had a stack of 7 PS3's sitting in the aisle near the front door with a big sign on them.  In that very same article EGM mentioned that they called 18 stores near them and half of them had PS3s in stock and available.

I nearly gave up on that series when I read that first book, but it certainly picks up in the next ones.  Not one of my favorite series' overall, but most of it is entertaining.
