Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Nope.  It's black and white.  With Johnny Depp.  From the 90's. Here is another clue (it's basically the picture from the movie poster):

There is an interesting interview with Scott Brown from NetDevil over on Gamasutra which talks about Jumpgate Evolution, learning from mistakes and such.

Nope, not Secret Window either.

Speaking of adventure games, you could check out the free comedy adventure "Ben There, Dan That!" over at Zombie Cow Studios (although you can feel free to donate smile ).

It's actually not Ed Wood, though you do have the actor right.  smile

I like the fact that they are killing the timers and such, but it's obvious that beyond about 5 feet the mall just looks deserted.  Boo.

9128  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: XBox originals on 360 on: July 22, 2008, 02:33:22 AM
I played Fable and Fable: Lost Chapters on BC and didn't have too many significant problems.  I did run into a crash once or twice (I think with the original), but not serious performance issues.

I've never tried any of the Originals downloads since, as Misguided said, they are all on the regular BC list and available cheaper on disc.
9129  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Vote for Lund Bros. (lildrgn's band) to play at Austin City Limits on: July 22, 2008, 02:24:56 AM
I'm not a fan of giving out an email address, but I have voted twice now.  What I didn't realize is that I had to click on the link they send you to verify the vote.  That sounds almost like work.

Nothing once again.  Which is good considering the overwhelming number of titles I want this fall/winter.

Ooh, ooh....The Lives of Others.  (and a great movie it is, too)
9133  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Any questions about E3 this year? on: July 20, 2008, 09:42:05 PM
Any sign of Just Cause 2?  I heard it was supposed to be shown but haven't seen anything about it.

Did any of you get hands-on with Mercenaries 2?

Lego Batman (is that this year?)

September, actually.  I hope they don't have another one so soon after this, or they really risk running the concept and gameplay into the ground.

Batman & Robin is one of the ultimate movies of all time!

9137  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 5 months left! what are you buying? on: July 19, 2008, 05:16:19 PM
Depending on what comes out when, here are my most likely purchases: (holy crap this list is scary!)

360:
Fable 2
Mercenaries 2
Saints Row 2
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Banjo Kazooie Arcade
LEGO Batman
Shaun White Snowboarding
Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Soul Calibur 4
Baja: Edge of Control
Bionic Commando: Rearmed
Bionic Commando (if the controls don't suck as much as I've heard)
Force Unleashed (most likely)
Viva Pinata 2 (if I have time for it)
Gears of War 2 (maybe...for some reason not that psyched about it)
Fallout 3 (maybe)
Too Human (maybe)
Ghostbusters (maybe)
Tomb Raider: Underworld (maybe)

Wii:
Force Unleashed (if controls make it worthwhile)
Skate It (if controls turn out decent)
Shaun White Snowboarding (if controls...)
Wii Sports Resort w/ Wii Motion Plus thingy

PC:
Starcraft 2
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People

PSP
Uh....what?

If I had a PS3:
Little Big Planet
inFamous

EDIT: it looks like at least these ones won't be shipping until next year (according to Gamestop.com, which doesn't overshoot release dates):
Red Faction: Guerilla [360 or PC]
Just Cause 2 [360]
Dawn of War II [PC]
9138  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Dark Knight Spoilers Discussion Thread! on: July 19, 2008, 04:44:54 PM
Yeah, I agree with those two things as well as what YellowKing said in the other thread about Bale's "Batman voice" getting a bit old.  I understand he's supposed to be disguising his voice but I think it just works better when he doesn't talk as much.

It really sucks that Ledger is dead because I wouldn't have minded seeing the Joker in the next movie.  I would like that, actually.  As it stands I really don't know who they are going to use as the villian in the next movie and didn't see any hints at it unlike the first movie.

They also didn't really tie up the loose strings of that employee who had figured out that Bruce Wayne was Batman.  Unless they figured that after Wayne crashes his car the guy is so thankful he decides not to squeal.

I'm not sure how you can say they look better in terms of textures since three of those new pictures are concept art and the other is a head in a white shirt.
9145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: E3 08 Coverage Begins! on: July 17, 2008, 01:56:47 AM
I must be one of the few that doesn't really like the new 360 dashboard.  Not that it doesn't look snazzy, but for actual use I much prefer to just see an organized list of everything that's available rather than some silly psuedo 3d Vista-ish bullcrap.  It seems a bit like worthless fluff and I actually just prefer the little mini-dashboard they showed as part of the guide.

Kind of like in some racing games where they make you walk around a virtual garage to find your cars when it's much more efficient to just view and select from a list.  Just make that shit fast to load and efficient to find.  Maybe it's just the programmer in me or something.
9146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Left 4 Dead - E3 character designs? on: July 17, 2008, 01:36:38 AM
I also much prefer the old ones from what they show.
9147  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Farcry 2 thread on: July 17, 2008, 01:33:18 AM
I will likely get it on 360 if I get it, since that won't have problems running it like I'm sure my PC would.

As with everyone else I disliked the camera controls.  Using that shoulder button to supposedly toggle on right analog to move it didn't work 90% of the time, either.

Certainly not going to be buying it until it hits bargain price.

The *decision* to remove 'unsubscribe' from the account page is sooooo disturbing.  So, they go belly up...and that's a move they choose to take?  When a dead company focuses on a potential money grab, my alert klaxons go off.

I'm guessing it may be less of a money grab and more of a situation where they want to avoid all of the people who panic and cancel before they can announce the full situation (servers continuing through new company or whatever).

For any modern game it could easily be replaced with "Diabloesque".  smile

I don't think the actually fits though. It's not a hack n slash per say. Generally in rogue like games when you die, you die. You start from the beginning and lose everything. Shiren is a recent example of a roguelike.

The masochist thing fits.

Yes, but whenever anybody uses that term referring to a modern game it seems it is just a way to call it a dungeon crawl rpg.  In that sense, Diablo fits just as well if not better, and I'm pretty sure this question spawned form the Diablo cloe PC Games thread.

People just like to pull out the "roguelike" to sound nifty
9158  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Please help with Algebra problem! on: July 14, 2008, 02:39:05 AM
To the power of.  So that's just n squared, etc.

I guess this forum supports superscripts, but I'm just of habit doing that.  n2 + (n - 1)2 ... + 12

To me it looks to be:

n^2 + (n-1)^2 + (n-2)^2 ... + 1
