Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People!  It's not on the top list, but it's out for PC and WiiWare today.

Also Bionic Commando: Rearmed (woohoo!)and Fable 2: Pub Games I guess.

Looks like a 3 to 3 tie between EngineNo9 and WBS. Someone break the tie!

Fine, I'll change my vote to WBS.  I have to get to work soon anyway.  slywink

Woohoo, the first episode finally launches tomorrow! (August 11th)  I've got the PC version preordered, but I guess the Wii download store will see it tomorrow as well.  Did anybody else preorder this or intending to check it out?

Telltale really showed their stuff with the new Sam & Max games, and combining that with the humorous writing, voices and characters from the Brothers Chapps makes for all kinds of win in my mind.

Also, with the rebirth of Sam & Max, now Strong Bad (and friends) and the recently announced Wallace and Gromit, could Telltale get much more awesome?  It's like they have been reading my mind.

1600 point cards for $14.99 at Target this week.

With all of the awesome upcoming games this might be a good time to stock up on cheaper points.  Last week had Braid, this week is Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Castle Crashers is coming...might as well save $5.

It's kind of nice to see that not everyone has the same favorite seasons, so it's not as if it totally went downhill for a couple years or something.

They were (and apparently still are) a kind of clear plastic sheet that you could color in, cut out and then put in the oven to shrink and harden them.

It's looking like $40 could be the MSRP on Banjo, though it's hard to tell. I see Viva listed for $40 at one or two and $60 at other places. In any case, you still can't be hurt by the newegg prices.

Well if that's the case then I guess this isn't such a great deal, but that is pretty awesome for Microsoft to do!

I and pretty much everyone I know that played at that time (release) had zero issues.

Not to be rude, but you must be forgetting the terrible city lag that wasn't fixed for at least 6 months, or the several cases of downtime that they had to reimburse free days for, or the reason they had to add server queues and the wait in those.

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Viva Pinata 2

Actually at release time Blizzard was pretty much the only company that had enough servers to support every box they put out.  I do not think any company has done that.

What about Asheron's Call 1&2, LOTRO, and City of Heroes/Villians?

And WoW had serious troubles and performance issues for the first few months, most of which was related to database problems from what I hear.  Not disastrous, but certainly not smooth.

I couldn't wrap my head around someone dismissing ALL anime in one stroke. All the serious stuff with pretentions of depth?  Or all the humorous stuff with juvenile leanings?  Moral Dramas?  Seriously, I don't understand how you can dismiss one entire medium.  That seems perilously stupid and short-sighted to me.

I was going to say something along those same lines, but couldn't figure out quite how to put it.   Like you said, I don't think you can categorically dismiss an entire medium.   It's like someone saying "I hate books.  All of them.".

Well, I guess I hate the animation, character designs and voices for all the anime I've seen and have no desire to see any more.  How's that?

And it's not equivalent to "I hate all books", it's more like "I hate all sleazy romance chick-lit".  It's a subcategory of a subcategory of a medium.

My son looked at a huge white canvas with a few squiggles of black on it and said "Dad, even I could do that."

Yes, but your son didn't.  We look at it afterwards and it seems so simple, but the creation of it wasn't and there is a message behind it.

The "message behind it" could be that the son doesn't have the sales skills to convince someone that his "Doodles on a Sketchpad" collection is worth money.  Maybe if he put on a beret and complained tragically of a lack of inspiration his "Hashmarks on a Field of White" will sell to a pretentious someone that appreciates the difficult creation process.  The rest of us will look at it and see graph paper, and think "WTF".

And maybe you're just being a dick now.  And I mean this in the nicest possible way.

Actually, let's not just leave it there.  Let me try to put this concept into another art form....music.  Let's try something like Punk.  People could sit there and argue that Punk music is just people string 3 chords together and convincing someone that it represents pent up anger about our bullshit capitalist society and how "The Man" is keeping us down.  The fact that it was just 3 chords doesn't make it any less artistic than Mozart's "Queen of the Night."  It is still art in that, to some, they get the whole "pent up anger" thing and it meant something to them.

If it was a 2 second song with 3 notes and some dude yelling "Crap!" then I would agree with your comparison.

I thought it was supposed to be pretty cool too and I played it a couple days this week and I doubt I'll play anymore.  I hate the fact that you're out on a quest and anyone, including your faction/race can come up and kill you for no reason and take some of your gear too!  That really does suck.

Only on free-for-all PVP servers.  And also, when did they add the taking your gear bit?  That wasn't there the last time I played.

Psychonauts

Grim Fandango
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Dungeon Keeper

So...anybody have a decent place to find hints for this game?  I realize the official stance is "do not use a walkthrough", but I don't play games to be frustrated and Jonathan Blow can screw off.   If I get stuck in Sam & Max I don't feel like I've cheapened the experience by reading a hint that says I need to use the lobster with the clown or something.

Maybe some of the puzzles become obvious after you have gone much farther in the game, but it didn't seem to from what I've played.

The thing that kind of sucks is that they don't teach you how to play at all.  If you don't figure it out right away, you're pretty much hosed.  Like in that first world I can't figure out how to get to a couple of the pieces, and no amount of jumping in one place and rewinding is going to get me high enough to reach it.

Interestingly enough, according to wiki, the roman catholic churcs current position is that the persecution was injust, and the templars wrongfully accused. Furtheremore, there's a document, called the Chinon Parchment that says that in 1308 the Pope Clement V secretly absolved the knights templars as well...so, they ARE absolved??

Ah, but secretly absolved isn't worth crap.  People want to be publicly absolved.
