I don't know anything about the MadKatz wheel, Microsoft is coming out with thier own wireless one that has force feedback in November.  It will be significanly more expensive than the third party models out right now, though.

I know there is also a Logitech wheel for the 360, but know very little about that one either.  Hmm, I'm pretty useless for feedback here.  icon_wink  Your best bet may be to do google searches for reviews of both models.

Naednek, why did you edit my post?  There is no full nudity in it, and certainly no more than already shown on this page in this clearly marked NSFW thread.  Look up above and you have a guy with a horn coming out his ass, a naked guy on an toilet, under-breasts and freaking David Hasselhoff with puppies on his crotch.  Go back a page and you can see a cowboy fisting some chick, a puppet fondling breasts and some chick sucking an ice cream cock.  You got something against short people?

I just honestly never found the show that funny and didn't like the narration at all.  Netflix keeps recommending the DVDs to me and insisting I would like the show, but I am resolute in my choice of "Not Interested".  This despite the fact that I'm a big David Cross fan and think Portia de Rossi is gorgeous.

Are you really apologizing for WH40k TT players?  Damn.

Chances are, Scott, you'll go into the comics store or whatever that sells the WH40k figures and the sales staff will scare you half to death with some combination of their smell, appearance, or utter lack of social skill.

Like all PnP/TT/board games, they're just not worth the money unless you've already tracked down a group of normal (or at least tolerable) people to play with.  In short, if you thought going to your local comics store on WH40K night was a viable option to actually play, good lord you are wrong, the faces and stenches of the freaks that show up to places and events like that will haunt you for the rest of your days.

That may be true for your local comic shop, but when I bought my stuff and checked out the games being played in the Games Workshop store everybody was nice, informative, helpful, mature, and un-stinky.  That may not be the case everywhere, but that was a pretty single-aspect place (just Games Workshop games, obviously) and it wasn't like your dark, dingy hole theory at all.
10327  Gaming / Analog Gaming / Re: Warhammer 40k - Am I nuts? on: August 30, 2006, 03:12:55 AM
I played the tabletop game for a little bit (mostly with a roommate at the time) and I have to say that it takes lots of time, space, and money.  Time and space mostly for the assembly and painting/drying of units.  That can either be it's own relaxing pasttime or a huge hurdle, depending on your point of view.  The money problem is simply because you end up buying bunches of units and books and stuff.  Depending on who you play with, you can set up games with just a few squads or grow it to ridiculous sizes (you add points to each unit depending on the weapons they have).

If you can deal with those drawbacks the actual stragegy and tactics can be quite fun, although I didn't both to play in any store tournaments or anything hardcore.

There aren't many reviews of Enchanted Arms yet, but they are averaging about 70% so far it looks like.  If you can take the over the top gansta style of Saints Row it looks to be a pretty good game.

Nice to see Burnout 3.  In my opinion that was the best of the series and I love playing that one with my friends.

Still pretty weak on the other titles and missed some good ones, as already pointed out.

WHORES!!

And to answer the question at hand, I can't say that I've ever heard of such a game.  The Western frontier is a pretty ignored setting in general, and perhaps a bit too limited for a city building game (which is a limited niche unto itself).
10338  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: No online Wii games until next year? on: August 27, 2006, 09:23:32 PM
I haven't been paying much attention to the Wii online stuff, but how exactly is their Virtual Console thing going to work without a hard drive?  Are users going to have to be online and download the game to RAM every time they want to play it?  Does this mean that they will be limiting the size of games to those which are very quickly downloadable and can be held wholely in memory?
10339  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Just Cause Demo on: August 27, 2006, 07:39:33 PM
I played the 360 version a couple days ago and just gave the PC version a try.  After putting the video settings all at High and restarting I don't think that the 360 version looks any better to me and it ran quite well on my mediocre system (2600+, 1GB, 6600GT).

What the console does have is better controls, especially for the vehicles.  Man, I've played a lot of driving games on my PC but none have been as touchy as trying to drive one of the trucks in this game!  It's like to make up for the lack of analog turning they put a small delay in the response time, but then you end up over correcting and turning 90 degrees and sliding all over the place when you just wanted to make a small turn.  In an arcadey game like this you want intuitive controls that are easy for everyone to pick up and play, not something that you have to fight with just to stay on the road.

It was still a lot of fun and I think the game could be pretty good.  If I get it I will likely wait for a price reduction and pick up the 360 version.
10340  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Re: New Forum Feedback in HERE please on: August 27, 2006, 06:26:02 PM
I'll put in a vote for the flip side of that.  Originally I agreed with you (and still occasionally do get annoyed at the "New" on threads that have been there for days) but I have since come around.  I used to feel that I had to stay logged into the site even if I went to do something else or else I would lose track of which threads had been updated in each of the forums.  Now I can come an check a couple threads in one forum, quit out to do something else, and when I come back I can see the other forums or even threads that I didn't get to check before.

I don't think it's too hard to hit "Mark As Read" in a forum after I've checked the threads that I want to read.

Also mentioned is that Microsoft is done with the Mechwarrior/Battletech IP :icon_sad:

So they bought FASA Studios and after releasing two action-Mech titles and a strategy sequel they are abandoning that IP?  Not to mention that the forthcoming Shadowrun game FPS looks pretty mediocre (although it may play well) and doesn't seem to have any RPG elements.  There's some quetionable decisions going on over there.

Love the character design and sense of humor in the demo.  Yet another reason for me to get off my ass and get HL2, I reckon.

While you certainly should pick up HL2, you don't need it for any of the stand-alone expansion/episodes.
10345  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero 2 Tracks! on: August 26, 2006, 09:16:02 PM
You misunderstood, I was just happy about Rage being included in the game.  With all the classic rock and crap in the game I really didn't expect them to make it in.

I agree with you that it is ridiculous when people call people who play this game "guitar gods" when they are just bopping four buttons to the beat on the screen.  They may be good at rhythm games, but the original music was created and played on a much more complex "system".

Of the new shows, I might check out 20 Good Years, 30 Rock, and Help Me Help You.

I have no idea if this will be anything more than a mediocre launch title used to fill a market void, but the one interesting thing they have said about the game is that the vehicles are supposed to leave physical ruts in the ground that affect your driving.  While that is an extremely important fact in real off-road driving, I'm not sure if it will be implemented in a way to be fun or just frustrating.

10357  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox 360 connected to PC??? on: August 26, 2006, 02:48:12 AM
If you don't get the DVI working, you can just get a VGA switch-box to which you connect your video card and 360, and then connect the box to your monitor with a third cable.  That allows you to switch back and forth on the fly between the two inputs and costs less than $20 I think.

It has always struck me as weird how Nintendo seems so reluctant to release their portable systems in the colors most wanted (black, silver, etc) even when they are available in other areas.
Weird? It's just hardcore milking.  It's how Nintendo stays in business.

What I was saying is that if you never release a black version of the GBA in the US, for example, you are just not appealing to the total market.  Why they were so reticent to do such things is what baffles me.  Sure, release it a year later and milk the market, but to never do so when those colors are available elsewhere is a bit baffling.

Just a wild stab in the dark...you did set up a Live Gold account, right?  With the free silver you can still download demos and use the marketplace but you can't play multiplayer games.  Setting up your Live account and registering your system online should net you a free month of Gold, so I would assume you did that but figured it's one more thing to check.
