And the Survive trailer.

I just pre-ordered this for PS4 on Amazon after noticing that if you have Prime, the game is discounted to $47.99.

If you hadn't noticed, this is a newer Prime bonus to get 20% off on almost every game preorder.

But I can't decide if I would want this one on PS4 or on PC where there might be mods and other things.
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 7/29/16 Edition on: July 29, 2016, 04:43:16 PM
I would like to get deeper into Homefront: The Revolution since I just barely started that before getting some family in town.

I also just got the Yooka-Laylee Toybox+ for being a Kickstarter backer, so I'll mess with that a bit more.

And possibly some Earth Defense Force 4.1, Gas Guzzlers Extreme or one of the many other games I've bought in packs lately.

4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: System Shock remake Kickstarter (and demo!) [PC/XB1] on: July 29, 2016, 04:45:00 AM
Their Kickstarter is over and successful, with a total of $1,350,700 out of a $900k goal.
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1]Rainbow 6: Siege on: July 28, 2016, 11:55:19 PM
There is another free weekend for this on PC and XB1 from today through Monday.  And there is a 50% off sale on Uplay, Steam and Xbox Marketplace.

Anybody still playing this at all?

That all sounds so awesome, Ken!!!  I'm glad it was an amazing day for Ethan and your family!  So cool that it was such a huge event and spread so far and wide!  Just seeing that huge smile on his face and hearing him say he's "So essited!" was

Here are a few videos I found of the event:

Fatshark is giving away 100,000 free copies of their old west multiplayer game Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West.

It seems pretty minimally invasive for information unlike a lot of these things that require you to give away your name, address, email, Facebook, social security number, the names of 10 potential Commie sympathizers, etc.

The original games were published by Activision, weren't they?  That's the same company that still tries to sell a 7-year old game like Prototype 2 for $40 on Steam or the "franchise pack" of 1 & 2 for $60.

They just don't seem to understand the concept of higher volume sold at lower price, or they don't give a shit because CoD and Blizzard games sell so much at those inflated prices.

22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 [XB1, PS4, PC] on: July 24, 2016, 04:52:26 PM
It looks like these two classic games are getting ported to modern consoles on Tuesday, July 26th, as announced at Comic Con today.  I'm assuming this is not a full HD fix-up, as they say:

Fans can expect some graphics, UI and performance tweaks to get the games running as smoothly as possible, but otherwise they’re the same outstanding action role-playing games that make the series one of Marvel’s best gaming ventures to date.

They will be $40 each or $60 for both of them, which seems pretty pricey to me, but I guess I barely played them originally so my opinion isn't worth anything (according to Kotaku).
23  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Blair Witch (2016) on: July 24, 2016, 04:34:06 PM
I never really thought the original Blair Witch was worth all the hype, and I grew to really hate most found footage movies, so I can't say I'm super excited for this.

And as usual the trailer just showed 90% of the movie's arc anyway, so it's not like there is much suspense anymore.

Well, the fact that Genicap is also working on a game that uses that algorithm, and they patented it in the first place, leads me to believe that there will be either a big payout or sharing of technology.  My guess is we won't hear too many details about it.

I'm also assuming that the timing is no mistake, with the release only a month away and the game having gone gold, it puts a ton of pressure on Hello Games to get this resolved, which would make them more likely to go for a quick settlement.

They initially thought I was recording it to report them for not doing their job. I explained the situation which is why the driver gives me a thumbs-up at the beginning. smile

Haha, yeah I had that problem as well.  I started recording before talking to the guy and he was giving me kinda dirty looks so I went up and told him the story and then he was more than happy to talk to the camera and let me record a bit more.  smile

For what it's worth, I bought one of their 5 game Mystery Packs for $2 and a 10 game one for $3, and they included some indies, some mediocre and garbage games but also a code for the new Star Wars Battlefront!  Not a bad gamble, I guess, hah.

I'd like to see a mini SNES over NES. I'm old so I remember having the NES but the SNES was my fav.
That I would actually consider.  It would really come down to the game offered though.  Thanks to early adopter WiiU status I got quite a few of the SNES titles I care about free or very cheap.  Just this week I was able to finally get Super Mario RPG for $1.50.

Yeah, even though a mini SNES does really appeal to me, I think between being a 3DS Ambassador and an early WiiU adopter I already have a lot of the best classic games.  And I find that I just never take the time to play them for some reason.   icon_confused

Maybe they will add real gameplay in later now that they are gazillionaires?

The game is intended to be expanded with new gameplay in phases, so that will happen. I expect we'll be able to challenge other players to Pokémon battles soon enough.

That and trading were in their older video for this, so I'd imagine they'll both be in there sooner than later.  Especially given the popularity.
35  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1]Battleborn - Gearbox new IP on: July 21, 2016, 07:13:24 PM
Personally I got the Humble Bundle because I also didn't have Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel or Spec Ops: The Line, and I'd say that Battleborn was still not worth it.  I didn't even really get into the meat of the game and it really turned me off with it's server-based Prologue.

- Forced to play the prologue with multiple unskippable cutscenes
- Even the single player Prologue is all server based
- Jumping is way too floaty.
- Movement is too slow.
- There is a small delay between moving the mouse and the on screen cursor moving.
- There is a server-side delay when using jump pads.
- There are server-side delays when destroying objects in the environment.
- There is a server-side delay when shooting projectiles.
- There are delays when using my abilities that make them no fun to use.
- Having to stop mid-match while I'm alive to do upgrades is completely counter to a fast-paced shooter
- Performance is sub par even on a single player Prologue map with no enemies and most effects turned down
- Zero feedback when holding Z to respawn so you have no idea if it took or not (you already have a circle around the number, just make a UI swipe element around it).

It all just points to the fact that they haven't really fixed the core experience that people originally complained about in the 3 months since launch, so it's not worth my time to put any more effort into it.  I'm sure some people will enjoy it, but I'm mad that I wasted time downloading that 15 GB.

37  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Why hasn't anyone made a recent Warhammer or Vampire RPG? on: July 21, 2016, 07:07:17 PM
As for vampires, there is the game Vampyr coming from Dontnod (Life is Strange and Remember Me).  You can see their E3 trailer on that website, which doesn't show a whole lot and certainly doesn't tap into that teen angsty vampire tripe.
38  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Necropolis: A Diabolical Dungeon Delve [PC/PS4/XB1] on: July 21, 2016, 03:08:29 PM
I do think it's kind of funny that the Souls games that inspired this are known and loved for being completely obscure with their stats and things, but this game is criticized as just being poor design.

Personally I felt like the Souls games were in large part poor design from the beginning that hardcore fans just decided to deify as some sort of "return to roots".

Anyway, glad to see that they're updating this game and hopefully the changes make the game worthwhile.  I have to imagine the things in their Long Term plan were probably originally intended to be DLC and are now going to have to be free to appease players.  But good for them to recognize that.
