Not planning on buying anything, but I'm mostly interested in seeing how some of the indie games turn out:  Immortal Redneck, Riptale, Ruin of the Reckless, Slice, Dice & Rice and Super Red-Hot Hero.  Oh, and maybe Tiny Thor if it actually ships this time.

Also curious how de Blob turns out on PC with normal controls since I never got to play it on the Wii.

In an interesting turn of events, I see that Worms WMD will be putting out a free Forts update at some point, which looks to be adding features similar to this (without the building, of course).

I can definitely see this benefiting from the ability to pause to give orders or have things done in a bit more of a turn-based way like Worms is.

You can slow down the clock in the game, which does help, but it also slows down everything, so while that does give you more time to think and react, it also means that everything you want to do, like shoot or repair or build, takes longer too.

Yeah, this just feels like a game where I would want the tactical toggle, like hit spacebar to pause and unpause during play.

Well, I have far, far too many games to play.  But tomorrow I'm going to watch my nephew play in a couple lacrosse games and then celebrate my birthday after that.

When I get free time I just picked up Forts which seems really cool.

And I am finally getting into W40K: Eternal Crusade a bit.  Plus I'm playing H1Z1: King of the Kill that I got for free ages ago since I had the original H1Z1 and everybody else is playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Oh, and I got invited into the Nex Machina beta, so I need to give that a try.

Plus Flinthook, Feral Fury, Slime Rancher, Full Throttle, Voodoo Vince, Yooka Laylee...good lord.

I picked this up and put in just under five hours, during which time I did most of the campaign (which is pretty much just a long tutorial) and tried Skirmish mode. As some people said, it's like a cross of Worms and Polybridge, but with some Angry Birds thrown in. The trouble is for me that the game is pretty much all point and click to shoot, or repair, or build. That means that later in each game you're frantically trying to keep up with combat while trying to build and trying to keep things repaired. Apparently the game is much more fun in multiplayer, when you can team up and I guess divide those functions, but in solo play it's just too much for me. So unless you're going to do a lot of multiplayer, you might want to give this a pass.

Yeah, I ended up getting this despite what I said above, and while it's really cool at it's heart I'm not a fan of super hectic feeling games and I can see how it would get there.

I can definitely see this benefiting from the ability to pause to give orders or have things done in a bit more of a turn-based way like Worms is.

Maybe I'll give the multiplayer a try as you say, to see if that burden is lessened when there are multiple people working on a team.

With release just a few weeks away, and the news that they have gone gold, here's a new video that shows some pretty damn sweet combat.  Still weight-y like Dark Souls, but moves much faster and has some fun dodge moves it looks like.

And of course like most games these days there is some BS preorder bonus stuff:

Here's the launch video for a new indie game called Forts that just launched on Steam this week.

I thought it looked pretty cool, with the idea that you build up your own fort out of simple physics objects and connections similar to Bridge Constructor or World of Goo and then battle it out with artillery, either in single player or up to 8 player multiplayer.

I just bought too many other games to jump in on this one as well, but I'd love to hear if anybody else gave it a try.   icon_biggrin

Here's a trailer for the Narco Road DLC which shows that they are taking this even closer to The Crew and Just Cause with some monster trucks, off-road muscle cars, nitro-burning buggies and lots of nonsense.

I love that sort of gameplay, so that seems great to me, but it makes this even less of a Ghost Recon game than it already was.

Clearly there are waaaaay too many games I'm looking forward to.  Here are the ones I find on my Wishlists, which probably still misses some.   icon_confused

Middle Earth: Shadow of War - Monolith/Warner Bros - August 22 - XB1/PS4/PC - loved the first game, here is more with even deeper Nemesis system and bigger world

Crackdown 3 - Microsoft - holiday? - XB1/PC - loved the first Crackdown as a near-superhero open world game, this one has even more potential with destruction

Super Mario Odyssey - Nintendo - holiday? - Switch - it's a new Mario game, giving me a reason to get a Switch

Baja: Edge of Control HD - Rainbow/THQ Nordic - summer? - XB1/PS4/PC - this was one of my favorite racing games of last gen, they are up-rezzing it and fixing some early game progression that was too punishing last time so hopefully more people experience it's offroad madness (the only racing game I've played where you could have point-to-point races that lasted 40 minutes)

State of Decay 2 - Undead Labs/Microsoft - XB1/PC - fall? - I absolutely loved the first SoD and thought it was the perfect single player survival game for me, so I can't wait to see what they do with a sequel on bigger and better hardware

Dirt 4 - Codemasters - XB1/PS4/PC - June 6 - more rally and offroad

Gravel - Milestone - summer? - XB1/PS4/PC - I just love off road racing games, hoping this one is decent

Prey - Arkane/Bethesda - May 5 - XB1/PS4/PC - good scifi game

MXGP3 - June 20 - XB1/PS4/PC - new engine, game looks dope.  Very few motocross games these days, this looks better than ever.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - XB1/PS4/PC - summer/fall? - the most in-depth medieval RPG ever

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord - TaleWorlds Entertainment - PC - fall? - long awaited followup to a groundbreaking game

Destiny 2 - September 8 - XB1/PS4/PC - Finally coming to PC, hopefully fixing a bunch of the shitty problems with the first one.

Rime - May 31 - XB1/PS4/PC - very pretty, hope it lives up to the visuals

Sea of Thieves - Rare/Microsoft - XB1/PC - fall? - we'll see, but everybody that has gotten hands on with it has great things to say

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Rockstar - XB1/PS4 - fall? - the first one is often considered one of the best games of last generation

Spider-Man - Insomniac/Sony - PS4  - fall? - don't really know much about it yet to be honest, but Insomniac doing another open world game after Sunset Overdrive with the Spider-Man license seems like a recipe for awesome

God of War - Sony - PS4 - fall? - norse gods, badass action, completely reworking the game to fit modern gaming standards of control/camera/etc

Agents of Mayhem - Volition/THQ Nordic - XB1/PS4/PC - August 15 - I love Saints Row, can't wait to see what Volition does with a brand new clean slate

Battlefront 2 - DICE/EA - XB1/PS4/PC - November 10 - supposedly going to fix the lack of content and general mediocrity of the last one.  We'll see...

The Surge - Deck 13/Focus Home Int - XB1/PS4/PC - May 17th - it's like a sci fi Dark Souls

Strafe - Pixel Titans/Devolver Digital - PC - May 9

Ruiner - PC

Absolver - PC

Tokyo 42 - PC

Redeemer - PC

Hob - Runic Games - PC

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice - PS4/PC

Tormentor X Punisher - Devolver Digital - PC

Nex Machina - PS4/PC

Tesla vs Lovecraft - 10 Tons - PC - fall ?

So, this came out today.  I bought it on the Windows Store so that i could also play it on my XB1 if I wanted to (it's also available on Steam, but no cross play then).

The download was only 3.0GB, so don't expect a massive Super HD remaster or anything.  It looks and sounds largely as I remember it, even though I'm sure it's way better than it used to be 13 years ago on the original Xbox.

The only big graphical "huh" moment I had was that there were no dynamic shadows at all in the intro, which was not pre-rendered as far as I could tell.  But once you get into gameplay there are dynamic shadows for the character from every light source and things look better in general.

From what I've played so far this is very much an early 00's platformer.  Run, jump, double jump, smack things, spin around, collect stuff, open doors, you know the drill.  The camera is a tiny bit fiddly, never quite looking where I would want it to, but you have full control with the right stick so it's not too bad.

Gameplay wise this is the exact same game as before, with all the ups and downs it had then.  I still find the voodoo powers (when you hurt yourself to hurt enemies around you) to be very underwhelming, which is too bad.  I was hoping that would be the one area that they really concentrated on buffing up.  But those are more rarely used than normal combat and platforming, so it's not a game killer.

The main character's voice seems a bit out of place, like a cartoon character that is disconnected from the world.  But the music is great as always.

I would probably say to try for #1 if that is what you would be happier with, have more long-term forward movement, and have the support of your fiance.

I completely understand being uncomfortable waiting it out and not going for the sure thing.  I would definitely be struggling with that decision myself.  I just think in the long run that first option seems the better on several fronts so is worth going for it.

I'm not sure where these jobs would be, but for what it's worth non-competes are not enforceable in lots of places, especially California.

Another question, do you have any dependents, spouse, kids, or anyone else that would be affected if you didn't get the job?

The first expansion called Narco Road comes out next Tuesday the 18th if you have the Season Pass, or the 25th if you plan on buying it solo:

Quote
New targets, new vehicles, and a new approach to taking down the cartel are all coming soon in the Narco Road expansion for Ghost Recon Wildlands. In order to dismantle a smuggling ring led by the elusive El Invisible, you and your squad will have to infiltrate the gangs under his control and earn the respect of three new bosses. Each boss commands a gang with its own identity, including the thrill-seeking Kamikazes, the muscle car-loving Jinetes Locos, and the Santa Muerte-obsessed Death Riders.

You’ll take on more than 15 new campaign missions, as well as four new types of side missions and racing challenges, all with the goal of earning fame and followers. The more followers you acquire, the more you’ll ingratiate yourself with the gang bosses, and the closer you’ll get to your goal. Along the way, you’ll want to get comfortable with the new vehicles Narco Road is bringing to Bolivia. Muscle cars with nitro boosts, planes built for acrobatic flight, big chopper bikes, and hulking monster trucks will all be available for you to use as you please.

In addition to these four new vehicles types, Narco Road will introduce four outfits and nine weapons when it launches for season pass holders across all platforms on April 18 (or individual purchase for owners of the standard and deluxe versions of Ghost Recon Wildlands on April 25 for $14.99).

And some free content in an update this week as well:

Narco Road will be preceded by a free title update – April 12 for consoles and April 14 for PC – that will introduce live season challenges and new rewards to Wildlands. The first themed-season, “The Rise and Fall of Unidad,” will challenge players to target Unidad operations. The challenges for the first season will refresh every Wednesday for six weeks, and reward players with up to three unique rewards per week.
