That really kind of annoys me.  I know it shouldn't and it is silly to be annoyed but I was looking forward to Zelda sometime this fall and now I have to wait a year.

Yeah, I have to agree.  I knew to expect it but it still annoys me and devalues the Wii U I've been trying to support.

Apparently there is a demo for this up on the PS4 until May 5.  Anybody try it out?

I think I'm buying nothing.

Well, they still have the supposedly-coming-out HoloLens thing, which would make sense if it is timed to require these performance add-ons.

The Magnificent Seven teaser trailer.  (since when is 2 minutes a teaser?)

Yeah, that's pretty young for a guy like him to die.

I don't want to be "that guy", but I never got into his music at all and didn't understand the love.  But still a shame since I know he was very influential in his quirky way.

Not sure why MS is on board, though.

Because they have to directly compete with Sony and the PS4?  They can't become viewed as even more of the "underpowered" console that nobody wants.  And if they do it with modular upgrades like it seems they might it could even be better for existing customers than the PS4 full-purchase option.
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XB1/PC/Ps4] Mirrors Edge 2 on: April 21, 2016, 05:57:53 PM
I had been excited about this but then I watched the Giant Bomb Unfinished video for this and it really convinced me not to get it.

It seems like they didn't really learn many lessons from the first game or from the improvements that something like Dying Light which had great first person parkour.
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/PS4/XB1] The Division (Tom Clancy) on: April 21, 2016, 05:49:26 PM
I got a big survey in email about this game today.  I ended up filling out all 3 parts (the second two parts were optional).  It would be interesting to see the accumulated results.

I didn't realize this Star Fox was actually made by Platinum Games.  Those guys must have a bunch of teams at this point with as many different games they release.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS4] Ratchet and Clank on: April 20, 2016, 03:59:27 PM
That's one big difference between the XB1 and PS4.  The XB1 tells you it's Ready to Play but still shows how much is left to be downloaded or installed so you can make an informed choice to wait if you want.
13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS4 upgrade - Neo on: April 19, 2016, 08:09:54 PM
At least link to the original story at Giant Bomb to give them some credit.

I might upgrade if it means I'll get faster performance and true 1080p display, but I don't have a 4k TV and don't plan on buying one for the forseeable future so don't care about that part.

Yeah, I have played quite a bit of this off and on and I really enjoy it when I do.  My biggest problem is that I enjoy the game mode that only has 2 maps so those become very repetitive.

As usual I'm also not a fan of their card/loadout system, but at least they aren't consumables.

Apparently this is doing really well.  No actual numbers yet but Bandai Namco announced Dark Souls 3 has been breaking records for the most successful day-one launch and has become the fastest selling Bandai Namco title ever.

I laughed, and I laughed.  nod

Well, since nobody answered my question I decided to just get a refund while I still could.  Oh well, no big loss.

Well, I suppose I'll try to play more Dark Souls 3 on PC.  I might try to get back to some Trackmania Turbo on XB1 as well.  And The Solus Project just got another big update so I need to dig into that at some point.  And Ratchet and Clank did come out this week...and, and and... icon_eek

Question - can't remember but is there a way that you can compare an item against what you have equipped BEFORE you actually buy it?
Can't seem to figure that one out.

I haven't seen this either, and it seems like a basic function that's been overlooked.

I gave it a try. The situations are interesting, although I've gotten too old to enjoy running a scenario over and over again just to get a few more points. And I remembered why I had given up on MP... sitting for a long time in damn lobbies waiting for a match to start and then dying a few seconds in.
Yeah, I had a lot of fun in the first few Situations, but then quickly lost interest when I started failing them and realized they wanted me to get enough points to buy six operatives...

Anyone remember Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising by NovaLogic? That was a great MP game. Thirty or more people on a side, matches that could last hours, huge maps... sadly there were so many cheaters on it after a few months it wasn't worth playing.

Yes!  Joint Ops was great fun back in the day!  These days Battlefield is about as close as you can get to that sort of long term big match chaos.

a lot changed, but not a lot that matters yet.

There's been some pretty significant changes for me.  Since the patch dropped on Tuesday I've tripled the number of High End Division Tech materials I have.  That is to I've gotten twice as much since the patch came out as I collected the entire time from the release of the game until the patch.  My new bottleneck is Dark Zone funds.  I'm 6 ranks shy of 50 and by the time I get there, I'm still not going to have enough DZ funds to buy of the DZ 50 blueprints (mostly I want the iLevel 32 Gear Mods).  In fact, I just spent 45 minutes in the DZ killing level 32 yellows and purples, and AFAICT I earned no DZ bucks at all (I jotted down the amount I started with, and assuming I wrote it down correctly, when I left the DZ I had exactly the same amount), I did get a DZ key though, so that's worth 1000 DZ bucks next time I run into a chest.

I already have Cookie Clicker running in a tab, I don't need a game that requires my focus for the same thing.  slywink

I also only played the betas, but I intend to play without a headset.

Of course, after the 14GB download and install via Steam, trying to run it makes Uplay pop up and that requires a CD Key.   retard  They're looking into it, but damn...

The last time a crapton of Steam games updated, it was to lay the groundwork for one of the sale meta games.

Yeah, that's what I initially thought as well, but this included games like Off-Road Drive that would not be part of that sale and have been out for years and haven't gotten any patches beyond localization updates.

But I realized it wasn't ALL of my installed games, as I have 89 installed and "only" 51 updated.
30  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / All of my Steam games updating??? on: April 14, 2016, 01:47:25 AM
I just came back to my gaming PC tonight and it looks like possibly every game I have installed is queued to download an update.

Seriously, 51 games scheduled for updates, and some of them haven't had patches in years.  A bunch of them are 0 byte updates, but many of them are actually 10-200MB updates even for games that don't have new patches.  Anybody ever see this?

I was prepared to be super psyched by that, but Godzilla looks very static in most of that.  And his tail is way too long and about the only thing that was moving on him, like some sort of tentacle.  Hopefully the movie doesn't suck, but I'll watch it regardless.

So it's Batman Begins meets Inception, and seems way less interesting than either of those.

I'd also like to register my formal complaint for movies and trailers that start with whispered words.  I inevitably have to turn up the volume and rewatch it about 4 times to actually catch what they are saying, and it drives me nuts.

I'm pretty terrible at Dark Souls, but I grabbed it on XB1 and will be streaming it in rotation with a couple other games.

I'm curious to know how that version runs.  I had initially preordered it and then cancelled it after the early bad performance talk (that has since been supposedly fixed with the launch patch).

I wish it had more slow mo.  I mean there were a few lines delivered at normal speed.

I still wish they had made these simple changes and made the Turtles a little more true to form.

So this comes out in the west today.  It actually looks like it unlocks on Steam at 3pm PST today, for some reason.

Apparently the patch that came out the other day improved performance significantly and fixed several bugs that were seen in review copies, so that's good to hear.

Anybody jumping in for more masochistic action RPG-ness?
