UPDATED BELOW

Well, I swung a trade for a Slim PS2, but now I have a leftover copy of Yoshi's Island DS.  If you want it, I'll trade it for PS2 games (make me an offer I can't refuse) or sell it for $25.

See, I've been fooling around with Ebay too, and when my shipping prices went up, my sales went down.  When my shipping went down, my sales went up.  Go figure.

Man, I was playing this too just recently!  I actually got all the way to Lavos, but couldn't beat him.  Such a great game.
2298  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / New Super Mario Bros. on: June 19, 2006, 06:41:02 PM
I love this game.  It's short, but sweet.

See, I enjoyed it start to finish.  I loved the bosses, even though they were really, really easy.  I loved watching Bowser get melted by lava.  (Shades of Metroid?)

I don't get all the hate.  If you're expecting the second coming, I can see why you're dissapointed.  If you expected a light gaming experience that will give you some fun, you'll enjoy it.

8.8/10

Any possibility of separating Mario Kart and AC from the DS?

Pretty pretty please?

My wife and I were laughing at how horrible we were making the music sound after a while.  I think it's very funny how dissonant all the horns get, and it was getting TERRIBLE after a while.  We really, really suck.

You beat me to it.  I really dug the movie, until the stupid tacked on ending.

YES!  I saw this one just yesterday, and me and my wife both agreed that Speilberg doesn't know where to end movies lately (i.e. Catch Me If You Can).  A.I. just dragged on, and the ending he put on made it like a fairy tale, instead of the disquieting movie it was supposed to be.

Although Haley Joel Osment is a fantastic actor.

Mario Party worked great for me, as did Kirby 64.
2305  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Will Brand Loyalty Carry you into NextGen? on: January 22, 2005, 05:28:17 AM
Nintendo has done this twice now:  They released a console with great expectations and ended up falling far short.

Here's the thing:  I get a console that has lots of flavors of games.  If you get a PS2, you get the Sony flavor, the Square flavor, the EA flavor and so on and so forth.  My point being, I will get whatever console has more flavors of games.  I want a diverse library, and Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Zelda 1 & 2, and Mario Party 4, 5, and 6 don't cut it.
2306  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Why cant I get back into PS1 RPGs? on: January 22, 2005, 05:19:44 AM
I just picked up Chrono Cross and I am loving it.  I'm about 11 hours in so far, and it just keeps getting better and better.  I don't like random encounters, though, so that makes CC good for me.

Here's the thing:  I don't like RPG archetypes such as random battles.  It's something that was put into RPGs because they couldn't do it any other way.  Now devs do it because they're too lazy to think of any other way to do it, or people bitch when it's not there.
2307  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Me vs. Space Channel 5...FIGHT! on: January 14, 2005, 04:40:07 PM
I don't like rhythm games.  I never really did, but I got SC5 on a lark.

I still don't like rhythm games.
2308  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Space Channel 5 & Virtua Fighter 4 Evo for Trade (PS2) on: January 14, 2005, 04:38:57 PM
Here's what I'm trading:

Virtua Fighter 4 Evo (PS2)
Space Channel 5 Special Edition (PS2)

Looking for:

Soul Calibur 2 (PS2)
Cash ($15 for SC5, $10 for VF4)

I would really like them to go as a set, if at all possible.  PM me or e-mail me.

Thx!

How is Brave Fencer Musashi?  I've heard good things about it.

It's an action RPG with more action than RPG.  Too busy to be a real RPG, too much story to be a platformer.  It's a fun game, but I found it to be frustrating in spots.  Of course, I may be too old to play twitchers any more, so take my opinion with a grain of salt slywink

Don't take out a loan to get it, but it's worth picking up if you can find it cheap, especially if it comes with that Final Fantasy VIII demo.   I got mine for $10 at EB and don't regret the purchase.

BTW, does it at least have leveling up?  I like action RPGs where I can level up (Screw you, Zelda! Tongue).
2310  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Just got a PS2. on: January 04, 2005, 03:40:28 PM
Cool.  Keep the suggestions coming.

I'm picking up Space Channel 5 for me and my wife, I think.  She doesn't play many games.  Do you think she would understand it, or would she have problems?
2311  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where is OO? on: January 03, 2005, 04:50:37 PM
I noticed that they talk more about games here, which is cool, and off-topic stuff more at OO, which is cool.  I like them both, although I have about 850 posts there and, like, 10 here.  It's just cool being on the ground floor of a community and having a say in how things work to some extent.

2313  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Just got a PS2. on: January 01, 2005, 10:43:13 PM
So...what games should I get? smile

I have Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, Tomb Raider (bleh), and Megaman X4.  I want to catch up on PS1 classics, too.  I don't like shooters on consoles, I like platform games, but not the sprawling Banjo-Kazooie/Mario 64 style, but more linear Rayman 2-esque games.  I like fighting games, but I'm just going to get VF4 and Soul Calibur 2.

Recommendations?

Sure bets that I am going to buy:

Final Fantasy VII
Threads of Fate
Some Crash Bandicoot game (not sure which)
Maybe King's Field, just because it intrigues me
Final Fantasy Tactics

Any other recommendations?

2316  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The Skinny on Rich (and Gonegold somewhat) SEE 1ST POST EDIT on: October 14, 2004, 12:47:24 AM
Well, I got the message that everything was over here.  Somehow it hurts more knowing that GG is gone than if I never found out what happened.

I was trying to find out what happened.  I was going to check the #gonegold channel on IRC, but never did.  I was really lost.  I mean, it's great that CG is here to take us wayward GGers, but it's just not the same.

I mean, GG is the first place where I told anyone that I was dating my wife and the first place that knew I got married.  It seems stupid, but it was really a community of hundreds of nuts that I sometimes hated and sometimes loved and always respected.  It truly was a community in the truest sense of the word, like a city with landmarks and familiarity.

I don't know.  I'm going to try and adjust.  I'm going to give this a shot.  It's just going to be really, really hard to adjust to life without GG.  I'm never going to get rid of the bookmark, though, and every time I wipe my computer, I'm going to make the bookmark again and put it in my favorites, just out of habit.

(sigh)  Anyway, it's good to see all of you.  And weird.  But good.

I just realized, what's U2K The Greatest going to do?  HE'LL BE LOST! (insert feeble smile)
