No points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
2202  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: "Quantum of Solace"... worst.. name.. ever.. on: January 24, 2008, 05:14:33 PM
That's the worst movie name I have ever heard.  We are all dumber for having heard that name.

I hate when games (and gamers) confuse "OMG LOOK BOOBIES" with maturity. Not to say that b00bies are bad, or that they should not be ogled, but that it's fucking childish, ESPECIALLY when the boobies are polygons.

I just read your reply in Yahtzee's voice.  It makes everything funnier.

Hey, unbreakable, can you send me a PM regarding that as well?  I've been trying to find out info about homebrew.  Thanks.

yep, on big Paczki trees, which are part of the pastryiferous family, and found only in the great Poland deserts.

A big swing!  Get up, get out of here, GONE for Ceekay!

2208  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: FT Black Nintendo DS Lite / LF Ipod or Zune on: January 18, 2008, 10:11:20 PM
Any chance you would part it out?  I have a DS but I really want MarioKart and Castlevania.  Let me know.
2209  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS2] My Backlog - I'm Ashamed to Admit... on: January 16, 2008, 04:39:09 PM
You think your backlog is bad?  I have Moonbase Commander for the PC in my backlog.  It came out almost 7 years ago.  I still haven't even installed it.  It just sits in my collection, mocking me.
2210  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Cats vs Dogs on: January 09, 2008, 08:01:37 PM
I love cats.  Something about a purring cat is way better than any dog.  Even if it's a nice dog, or it's happy with you, a purring cat still beats it hands-down.
2211  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Escapist: Zero Punctuation on: January 09, 2008, 06:27:16 PM
I wasn't a huge fan of this one, but I don't know (or care) about Silent Hill, so I'm not really the target audience.  Still funny, though.

I find I'm getting more of my reviews from Zero Punctuation.

Cars was the only Pixar movie that didn't really grab me.  However, how they squeeze so much emotion out of these computer generated faces is uncanny.

In some circles, (admittedly demented circles) people said Peter O'Toole should be nominated for an Oscar for his work on Ratatouille.  Imagine his exact same lines transposed onto a character from Shrek.  Not the same effect, right?  Pixar is just so beyond everyone else in getting what makes a character relateable that it's not even funny.  They're not just shooting for movie tie-ins, or how can we make this marketable.  They're just focusing on "good."
2214  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Derek Smart! Derek Smart! Derek Smart! game on: January 03, 2008, 04:48:34 PM
I have to say, I like Derek Smart's ideas, but his execution stinks.  That and the fact that he's pompous jackass.

No, I just can't think of why I stopped watching.  I was enjoying it a lot.  I've heard that it gets better and better, though.
2216  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Official prediction: DNF, a bust or not? on: January 02, 2008, 11:46:42 PM
Yeah, it's pretty funny seeing a list of all the games that have come out since DNF started work.  And this teaser trailer is all they have to show for it, too.

2218  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Wire: The Final Season (spoilers inevitable) on: January 02, 2008, 11:20:04 PM
I've only seen half of Season 1, but I loved the dichotomy between Kima's relationship and Omar's relationship with the weird red-haired guy.  With one, you were titillated, and the other, you were uncomfortable (guy on guy kissing always makes me a little queasy, and they were really into it) (shudder supressors ON).

Also, I love how there's no "bad guy."  Everyone has a motivation, and they have good and bad qualities.  Like there's a cop who's a jerk, and they bust into this old lady's house looking for her grandson swearing up a storm, and before they leave, he goes to the old lady and apologizes.  She doesn't even move the whole time, just keeps knitting, and that tells more than any expository dialogue ever could.

Why didn't I finish watching Season 1?  icon_mad

I had Mario Kart DS, and I think it's far better than the Gamecube Mario Kart.  There's a lot to unlock and do.  Plus, you get to play as R.O.B.  I lent it to someone and they lost it.  I'm pissed.
2220  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: DS Games For Trade on: January 02, 2008, 05:51:12 PM

2221  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / DS Games For Trade on: January 01, 2008, 08:27:24 PM
I have these for trade:

Mega Man ZX
Super Mario 64 DS
Final Fantasy III
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime

Make me an offer for any DS games you might have for trade.  I love RPGs and platform games.
2222  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The DS is now the best selling console EVER (in Japan) on: December 31, 2007, 06:04:46 AM
I love my DS.  I'm not surprised that it's sold as well as it has.  It's the Game Boy Advance +1.

Although, I admit that I thought Nintendo was absolutely insane for making it in the first place.  Shows how much I know.

2224  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: TMNT: The Movie on: December 27, 2007, 06:30:21 PM
I was vaguely interested in this movie, but never really made the jump.  If they hadn't already marketed the Turtles to death, maybe I wouldn't feel the deep shame involved in watching this movie.  As it is, I just can't justify it.

Especially because I just forced my wife to watch Talladega Nights.  (I love Will Ferrell.  She hates him.)  I don't think I have enough cred to get another risky movie rented right now.
2225  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Watching Smash Lab: A Heaping Pile Of Meh on: December 27, 2007, 03:41:21 AM
All they're doing is blowing things up.  Now, I'm all for blowing things up, naturally.  But the great thing about Mythbusters is the buildup, and the personality of the cast.  No one has any personality whatsoever on this show.  I couldn't even tell you any of their names.  They're trying to protect a house from a bomb now.  That's useful.

Am I wrong on this?
2226  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: all of gt must be having a hangover on: December 27, 2007, 03:07:56 AM
Yeah, I let someone borrow my DS for the weekend, so I don't even have that.  My boss left for the weekend, so now I have nothing to do for the next couple of days.  Grr.
2227  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Good games from 2004-2006? on: December 26, 2007, 11:46:05 PM
Oof.  No MMORPGs.  No way I'm paying money every month to play a game that I already bought.  Just not my thing.

I've been getting alot more in Outlook Express, but not Gmail.

Anyone know of a free online spyware/adware scanner?

Trend Micro's Housecall does the trick for me.  Another option is getting Spyware Doctor in the Google Pack.  It's from a company called PC Tools that I am quickly developing an affinity for.

I haven't gotten anything at all in my spam folder or in my inbox via Gmail.  Hmm.

I've actually had a really busy day so far.  Everyone and their mother is trying to get their computers fixed right now.  Good times.

I've got TRON 2.0.  That game rules.

Heroes of Might and Magic V was good?  Maybe I'm just confused by how many bad Heroes games there were.
2231  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Good games from 2004-2006? on: December 26, 2007, 03:51:18 AM
I'm not huge into real-time strategy games.  The only one I've ever really liked was Rise Of Nations because I could pause the action at any time, which I used liberally until I got accustomed to the game.  Is there something like that in Dawn Of War?
2232  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Good games from 2004-2006? on: December 25, 2007, 11:51:00 PM
So, now that I have a computer that's good, but not great, I'm looking for games that I can use to push it a little, just for fun.  I have Call of Duty 2, Titan Quest, Civ 4, Pirates!, and Oblivion.  What other games came out that I've missed?
2233  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Bourne Ultimatum Impressions [Spoilers Welcome] on: December 15, 2007, 08:34:24 PM
Apparently, no one could stand Doug Liman.  He has executive producer credit, but no one wanted him around the other movies.  He's apparently a big jerk, which is why after launching a multi-million grossing franchise and a movie that did fairly decently (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) he hasn't done anything since.

There's a great track from Mega Man 4 for the Gameboy that's now my ringtone.

Also, I gotta say the Katamari Damacy theme.

I don't see Nintendo adding an MP3 player into the next iteration of the DS.  They're too nervous about piracy, and being able to put things on a DS would just make them jittery.  Besides, we've seen how well it's worked for the PSP.  How many firmware updates have they made since day 1 to stop piracy?  And how long does it take to crack each one?

I'm still trying to figure out Nintendo's next move, especially with a handheld.  Do they just do a DS with more power, like the Game Boy -> Color -> Advance progression?  Or do they shake it up even more?  Maybe add motion sensing to the DS2?

And what about the Wii?  Are they sure this is the route from now on?  Motion sensing?  Or do they have something else up their sleeve for the next gen?
