Right, plus Abrams knows that you have to, I don't know, move characters around when filming dialogue, use real locations instead of pure greenscreening, make things exciting, stuff like that. An Abrams Star Wars could be fantastic.

Try Spirit Tracks. I liked it better than Phantom Hourglass because you don't have to go wandering through the same temple over and over, and while there are less tools, each of them remains useful throughout the game.

Also, with regards to this thread... RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

I found an article that described the newer episodes as having a Rashomon feel to them. For example, it mentions a line that Lucille says in one episode, but in another episode it shows the same scene, but the line actually had a different inflection or something like that. I can't find the article, though.

135  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Django Unchained on: January 08, 2013, 04:26:23 AM
All right, so what do people think of the depiction of race in the film? I'm not talking Spike Lee's obviously messed-up view, what do you think?

My only complaint was that Django didn't have much agency during the first half of the film.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Schultz taught him to fight, to shoot, to read, etc. It was like the "magical Negro" but in reverse. Sure, he was a "natural," but Django and most of the slaves only did anything at the beginning because a white man rode in. I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that.

Having said that, I absolutely loved it.

Here's something I didn't realize: The War Z was made by Sergei Titov. He was also the producer and programmer for Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing. In case you don't remember that one, here's a clip:

Looks like the same care and love that went into Big Rigs was lavished upon The War Z.

I actually JUST watched Basterds today. I'm just so incredibly impressed. Watching it, I was like, "I will never write anything as good as this," and it's humbling and thrilling at the same time.

Not only that, but some of the quick cuts away from the action just magnify things that much better, such as the bar scene where it cuts away from them to show Stiglitz getting whipped, then cuts back to the bar, where Stiglitz has to bury that and keep talking to the SS officer.

The sign of a good character or characterization is if you could see a story written about nothing but that character. If you can, that's a sign you've got something great. There are so many great characters in that film, Hicox, the Bear Jew, Raine, Shoshanna, Landa, on down the line. Everyone is mesmerizing.

Well, the last president who was overweight was Taft. So yeah, it does matter that Christie is pudgy. That doesn't mean he's unelectable by any means, it's just that being a fatty fatty boombalatty is going to make it more difficult.

Why should it matter thought?   What specifically about a person being overweight makes them somehow unfit to be president for some people?

You'll have to ask the people who haven't nominated or elected a chubby president since Taft. You're right, it shouldn't matter, but to the electorate it does for some weird reason.

I would think the scandal would be due to Biden continually washing his '83 Trans Am on the White House lawn shirtless.

One time, Hepcat gave Eco-Logic a handie behind the 7-11 down on 8th and Park, so we know that Hepcat is generous with his time and wrist strength and that Eco views sexuality as a continuum and that he is merely a voyager on a vast ocean of delights.
