Picked this up yesterday. So far, it's OK. I'm not sure if I like the lack of any level progression system, but I'm about 2 hours in and on level 1-6, so it should have some staying power.

I actually JUST watched Basterds today. I'm just so incredibly impressed. Watching it, I was like, "I will never write anything as good as this," and it's humbling and thrilling at the same time.

Not only that, but some of the quick cuts away from the action just magnify things that much better, such as the bar scene where it cuts away from them to show Stiglitz getting whipped, then cuts back to the bar, where Stiglitz has to bury that and keep talking to the SS officer.

The sign of a good character or characterization is if you could see a story written about nothing but that character. If you can, that's a sign you've got something great. There are so many great characters in that film, Hicox, the Bear Jew, Raine, Shoshanna, Landa, on down the line. Everyone is mesmerizing.

Well, the last president who was overweight was Taft. So yeah, it does matter that Christie is pudgy. That doesn't mean he's unelectable by any means, it's just that being a fatty fatty boombalatty is going to make it more difficult.

Why should it matter thought?   What specifically about a person being overweight makes them somehow unfit to be president for some people?

You'll have to ask the people who haven't nominated or elected a chubby president since Taft. You're right, it shouldn't matter, but to the electorate it does for some weird reason.

I think we figured out the scandal! Alefroth sleeps with Obama! Caught on tape! FILM AT 11!

I would think the scandal would be due to Biden continually washing his '83 Trans Am on the White House lawn shirtless.

One time, Hepcat gave Eco-Logic a handie behind the 7-11 down on 8th and Park, so we know that Hepcat is generous with his time and wrist strength and that Eco views sexuality as a continuum and that he is merely a voyager on a vast ocean of delights.

145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Civilization 5: !#@#!@ Impressions Incoming! God & Kings! on: November 03, 2012, 01:19:09 AM
It affects both vanilla and the Gods expansion.

I can't say specifically what won me over. I didn't play it a whole ton after the last major patches. I played it a lot at first and just didn't like it, but here's what I like about it now:

Bonuses are actually substantial now for civics, as opposed to "you get 1 extra food if you meet these random conditions every once in a while."
Diplomacy actually makes a lot more sense now. You don't just get denounced for no good reason by every nation suddenly.
Opponents don't do stupid things as often now. One of the patch notes in this one says that they won't sit and heal while they're in range of an enemy city. I feel like the AI is at least putting up a fight now.

It just seems a little more balanced as well. Maybe my expectations are lower now, but it's just a better game at this point.
146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Civilization 5: !#@#!@ Impressions Incoming! God & Kings! on: November 02, 2012, 04:25:35 PM
I'll be honest: I was not a huge fan of Civ 5, right up until the patch yesterday. It seems much more balanced now.
