Crashlands here.

I hadn't heard of this game before, but it looks really good.  This week has been crazy for new releases.
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (1/18/2016) on: January 20, 2016, 02:15:48 AM
There are some nice launch discounts this week - A Boy & His Blob is $8.49, Dark Cloud 2 is $11.24, and Deadly Tower of Monsters is $9.89.  I think the first two require XB Gold/PS+, but the Deadly Tower discount doesn't.
49  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (1/18/2016) on: January 19, 2016, 02:22:46 PM
Darkest Dungeon, The Deadly Tower of Monsters, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, maybe A Boy & His Blob (depending on price), and I'm still trying to decide if I want to sink another 200 hours into Dark Cloud 2
50  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS2 emulation on the PS4 is an exciting prospect on: January 15, 2016, 03:17:11 PM
Dark Cloud 2 is one of my all-time favorite games, but after spending 195 hours with the original, I'm not sure I want to play it again.
51  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (1/12/16) on: January 11, 2016, 01:31:34 PM
I hadn't heard of Oxenfree, but it looks really intriguing.  Tharsis also looks good, and I'll eventually get Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India.
52  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (1/5/16) on: January 04, 2016, 02:45:12 PM
Assuming impressions of Rebel Galaxy on PS4 are good, I'll get that, Hardware Rivals (PS+) and Amplitude.  It looks like 2016 is starting off on a good note (Amplitude pun not intended slywink).
53  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS4,XB1,PC] Rebel Galaxy, by ex Diablo/Torchlight devs on: January 04, 2016, 10:20:21 AM
The console versions are out soon - PS4 on January 5 and XBox One on January 13.
54  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ex-Titan Quest Developers working on a new game: Grim Dawn on: December 24, 2015, 02:17:34 AM
The game is now content and feature complete and is set to leave early access in February after some testing and balancing.

Summon Night 5 for PSP is out on PSN this week, and I'm thinking about getting that.

The kickstarter has ended with $5.7 million pledged, enough to make 14 new episodes.

Some surprise releases announced at PSX - Nuclear Throne, Fat Princess Adventures, and the FFVII HD version are all available now on PS4.

Also, the "free to start" Pokemon Picross came out on 3DS this week.  It's a nice picross game, but you're going to have to spend money if you want to progress past the first few dozen puzzles.

I just picked up Xenoblade Chronicles for the 3DS XL, so I guess start with that title, and check this one out when it hits the bargain bin. I was looking forward to a big screen RPG experience for the holidays, however, and Xenoblade Chronicles X was going to be my choice. I may need to take a closer look at Tales of  Zistiria.

I'm only about 6 hours in, but I'm really enjoying Tales of Zestiria.  It's very much a Tales game, but changes like fighting on the exploration map and the mixing of the Arthurian legends with the anime aesthetic help the game stand out.  Also, since you're looking for RPGs, Trails of Cold Steel comes out December 22 for PS3 and Vita and is supposed to be really good.
61  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ni No Kuni 2 Announced! on: December 06, 2015, 01:12:35 PM
Out of nowhere, Ni No Kuni 2 : Revenant Kingdom for PS4 was announced at PSX, and there's even an English trailer.  There aren't many details yet, but (as expected) it looks absolutely beautiful.

Nothing for me. Hoping to get Fallout 4 and/or Divinity:Original Sin for my birthday, and that will probably do me for the rest of the year unless Rollercoaster Tycoon World turns out to be decent.

Rollercoaster Tycoon World has been delayed until early 2016.

Sword Art Online: Lost Song for PS4

Interested to hear your thoughts on that one.  I was initially fairly intrigued, but the mediocre reviews have cooled my interest significantly.

Unfortunately, I won't be playing it for awhile.  I bought it awhile back because it came with Hollow Fragment for free, and I'm still playing that.
66  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/17) on: November 17, 2015, 01:53:59 PM

One observation though is that the challenges and number of difficulty unlocks suggest that replaying the game again and again and again is more the point of the game than anything else. Is the core story not very long?

If you listen to all the dialogue and explore everything, the story can take quite awhile.  Difficulty also plays a big factor in how long it takes, as the lower difficulty levels are ridiculously easy.  With Reaper of Souls, the story is really just a way to introduce you to your character's skills.  You're meant to finish the story once, and then play Adventure mode.
70  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / New Star Trek TV series coming 2017 on: November 04, 2015, 02:32:27 AM
CBS has announced that a new Star Trek TV series is coming in January 2017.  The show will be produced by Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote and produced the two most recent Trek movies, although this show won't have anything to do with the movies.  Unfortunately, the show (after the pilot) will only be available on CBS All Access for $5.99/month.  Even after the success of the recent movies, I wasn't sure this would ever happen, so I won't mind paying when the time comes.

Just think, King just sold for more than MARVEL. Yeah.

To be fair, ideas like matching 3 gems with a candy theme don't just grow on trees.  I'm sure the developers spent many long minutes designing this game.

Day One - Dragon Fin Soup (PS+) and Yo-kai Watch
Someday - Norn9: Var Commons, Need for Speed, Anno 2205, The Living Dungeon

Wave 2 for LEGO Dimensions is also out this week, and I'm getting the Doctor Who level pack.

In a very quick turnaround, Telltale's Minecraft Story Mode Episode 2 is out this week.

Day One - Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition on PC
Someday - Mega Coin Squad, Halo 5, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC

Evoland 2 is a great game.  It's a huge improvement over the first game and does a great job of evoking the 16-bit era while still doing its own thing.
75  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/20) on: October 20, 2015, 12:46:32 PM
Day One - Guitar Hero Live for XBO, Life is Strange Episode 5, Tales From The Borderlands Episode 5, and Tales of Zestiria for PS4, and Sword Coast Legends on Steam
Someday - Hasbro Family Fun Pack, Assassinís Creed Syndicate, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Rebel Galaxy

I'm not sure why it was released on a Sunday, but Marvel Puzzle Quest is now available on PS3, PS4, and XBox 360.  There's no XBox One version yet, but it's supposed to be out later this year.
77  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Mincraft: Story Mode on: October 13, 2015, 09:35:33 PM
Even though I know there will be price drops before the season is finished, I'm a sucker for Telltale's games and will be getting this day one.
78  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/13) on: October 13, 2015, 11:31:49 AM
It's a crazy week for me -
Day One - Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Treeís Woe and the Blight Below and Minecraft Story Mode Episode One for PS4, Yoshi's Woolly World for WiiU, The Legend of Legacy for 3DS, and Wastleland 2 Directorís Cut on Steam

The kart-racing Speedway expansion for Disney Infinity 3.0 is also out this week, and I'll pick up that eventually.

Day One - Super Meat Boy (PS+)
Eventually - Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, Rock Band 4, Transformers Devastation, maybe Chibi-Robo

I'm glad this is a quiet week for me, as the next two weeks are going to be absolutely crazy - Dragon Quest Heroes, Legend of Legacy, Wasteland 2 GOTY, Minecraft Story Mode, Yoshi's Woolly World, Guitar Hero Live, Tales of Zestiria, and Sword Coast Legends (and Divinity : Original Sin Enhanced a week after that).
80  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: September 30, 2015, 09:36:23 PM
PS+ looks more like a PC indie bundle every month.  All of those game except Kung Fu Rabbit (which was on sale on PSN in the last month or so for around $2) have been in PC indie bundles.  That doesn't make them bad games, but I'd imagine Sony isn't paying a whole lot to get these on PS+.
