I'm surprised to see PS3/360 versions, and now I'm torn.  I was planning on getting the PS4 version, but it's going to cost $60, while the PS3 version will only be $40.  I can't imagine the PS4 version will look that much better, so I might just go with cheaper one, especially with Sacred 3 coming out a week later.

For this particular game, the differences are likely to be larger than just graphics. The current-gen versions will be closer to the PC version in terms of things like number of enemies, for example.

I hadn't thought of that, and I think Blizzard did say the PS4/XBOne versions would have greater monster density.  I need an excuse to buy a PS4 anyway, so I guess I'm back to the PS4 version.

Chlo Wang?  How much you wanna bet she added the diacritical mark without realizing what it's grammatically supposed to represent?

edit:  "wang"  heh heh

Chloe Wang is the actress's real name, but I can see now why she changed it slywink

Well, that was fast - Sony has changed the policy so that if you do the $50 upgrade, you'll get to keep the game even if your PS+ subscription runs out.
49  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Elder Scrolls Online on: May 09, 2014, 11:06:17 AM
The console version has been delayed for six months  icon_eek  However, if you buy and play the game on PC by the end of June, you can get the PS4/XBOne edition for $20, including character transfer and 30 days of play time.

I loved the humor in the last episode, even if it did seem odd that the team is cracking jokes.  The best lines were May's "Look out HYDRA, here we come" and Coulson's "Get ready for a large file transfer"  icon_biggrin  I hope they'll continue to inject more humor and fun into the show.
51  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS4] Driveclub on: May 08, 2014, 02:07:10 AM
I would guess that they're trying to prevent people from using free trials or one-month memberships to get the discount, which seems rather silly.  The frequent PS+ sales often give more than $10 off on games, and you get to keep those games.  Between this and the fact that the PS+ version only contains about 20% of the full game, I don't think the developers are making many people happy.
52  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Valiant Hearts : The Great War on: May 08, 2014, 12:00:02 AM
Back when Child of Light was announced, Ubisoft also announced another game using the UbiArt framework - Valiant Hearts : The Great War.  From the press release -
Quote
The story of Valiant Hearts The Great War focuses on the journey of five people as they brave the battles and difficulties of the Great War following their faithful canine companion. The game is set in the Western Front, a crossroads between World War Ones Allied and Central Powers and home to some of the Wars most intense military confrontations. All of the main characters are inextricably drawn together, and friendship, love, sacrifice and tragedy befall each as they help each other to retain their humanity against the horrors of war.

Here's the trailer that reveals the release date - June 24/25 on PS3/4 and XBox 360/One.

I often wonder what these big over-paid network execs get their money for.  This just seems like an overall poorly thought out concept for a TV series.  I mean, where do they expect to go with it over time?  Every year we get to see lil Batboy and Catgirl get a little older?  Really?

That said, I'm still willing to give it a chance for Ben (finally remembered his first name lol).

I think the Batman stuff is going to be mostly in the background, and the show will be mostly a police procedural.  They're probably looking to attract fans of cop shows, organized crime dramas, and Batman.  Of course, action/spy shows are also a popular genre now, and that didn't really help Agents of SHIELD's ratings.  It's hard to tell how well the show will do, but I can see why they're taking a chance on it.

Octodad and NES Remix 2 for me.  Unless the Octodad reviews are terrible.

Also, they're rereleasing a game on PS systems this week (PSV, PS3, PS4) that was a launch game for the original Xbox (though later came out for the GC and PS2) and hasn't been seen since.  It was one of the first games to really embrace cel shading.  It was a shooter of sorts.  Anyone remember?

Spoiler for Hiden:
Cel Damage HD is supposedly coming this week.

I had to do a double-take when I saw it mentioned on Sony's new releases blog post, as I knew I had heard the name somewhere.  I'll probably be picking it up, as car combat games are few and far between.

Too bad they can't bring those out to the 3DS. Despite, you know, the system being perfectly capable of playing NES, GB, GBC, and GBA titles. For that matter, why are the GBA releases only for the WiiU as well (from prior weeks)? I want to give you money, but I have no reason at all to buy your console otherwise!

I think you answered your own question slywink  Making games like NES Remix, Earthbound, and the GBA VC releases WiiU exclusive gives people another reason to buy the console, especially people with a soft spot for Nintendo's classic library.  It worked with me - Earthbound and NES Remix helped push me over the edge into buying a WiiU.

As for this week, I'll be getting -
Day One - NES Remix 2, Demon Gaze
Someday - Tesla Effect:  A Tex Murphy Adventure

It was hard to resist a Wii U after Super Mario 3D World released, but Mario Kart 8 looks so absolutely cool that I caved in and ordered one. I'm not a fan of the Gamepad, does the Pro controller serve most games well? In particular, 3D World and DK Jungle Freeze?

It should work fine for those games.  Mario barely uses the pad, and DK doesn't use it at all.
