121  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tales of Zestiria Announced for PS3 on: December 13, 2013, 12:42:17 AM
Namco Bandai has also confirmed that the game will see a worldwide release.  It's so nice to have confirmation of a US release when a game gets announced, rather than getting jerked around for months or years.

I did get the 'Timeless Classic' surprise selection to finally pop.  It is MDK2 for $1.49.

It looks like they're either random or change over time, as my offer was Crusader : No Remorse for $1.79.

If you already own one of the games, be sure to uncheck it before you complete the order.  Otherwise, you'll only be able to gift the games.
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Tales of Zestiria Announced for PS3 on: December 12, 2013, 01:04:15 PM
Namco Bandai has revealed the next game in the Tales series - Tales of Zestiria for the PS3.  There aren't many details yet, but dragons will play a big part in the story, and there will be a bigger focus on exploration and adventure.  From the trailer, it looks like combat might no longer take place on a separate screen, as the battle appears to play out on the map with the camera behind the character, rather than the traditional side view of Tales combat.

Larian has released a 40-minute gameplay video of the alpha version, which will be available to the higher-tier backers next week.
126  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [TellTale] Fables: The Wolf Among Us on: December 08, 2013, 12:12:50 PM
I hope that the fact that they'll soon have two ongoing series, plus two more coming in 2014, doesn't mean they're spreading themselves too thin.  I know there are probably different teams for different games, but three months (at least) is really too long of a gap for an episodic series.
127  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: No Man's Sky on: December 08, 2013, 12:08:34 PM
This could be awesome if they pull it off.  It's certainly an unexpected departure from their last game, Joe Danger.

Bethesda on why it took so long to say anything:

we avoid responding to rumors and speculation, but did wanted to respond once people took it more seriously.

In other words, they wanted to enjoy the free publicity for as long as possible slywink

I know that the Game of Thrones game leaked early, but I don't think anyone saw this coming.

I was curious to see how this was coming along, and saw that episode 2 hasn't even been released yet.  I think that pretty much put me in the 'wait until they're finished before buying' camp, I didn't realize they weren't doing monthly releases this time around.

I'd assume they're not doing monthly releases because they have two series going at once.  Hopefully, they'll be alternating months with TWAU and The Walking Dead releases.

Maybe we should start a new thread for Season 2?  This thread was about the first season, and we're getting into unmarked spoiler territory.

Is this the last day of the sale, or is there a new series of discounts to come tomorrow? I ask because I've been holding off on the purchase of a few DLC's that are currently only dicounted at 50%, but I'll pull the trigger now if there's no chance they'll be further discounted.

the main page says 'New Deals in 23:15:00', so I imagine it'll be the recap sale that Caine mentioned.

That may be a mistake, since if you go to any of the sale pages (Daily, Flash, or regular) the deals all end on 12/3 at 2 PM Eastern US time.

I keep thinking there will be a good JRPG or three that hit the system (those were the saving grace of the PSP), but it seems to be a wasteland in that regard as well.   icon_frown

That should change today with Ys : Memories of Celceta, which is supposed to be excellent.  I have it coming from Amazon today, so I'll post some impressions once I play it.  There are also some others in the works, such as Conception 2, Demon Gaze and Sorcery Saga

140  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Persona Q and Persona 4 Dancing Announced on: November 24, 2013, 12:27:16 PM
In addition to Persona 5 and Persona 4 Arena 2, Atlus announced 2 new handheld Persona games - a rhythm game for the Vita called Persona 4 : Dancing All Night and Persona Q : Shadow of The Labyrinth for 3DS.  Persona Q is a Persona 3 and 4 crossover dungeon-crawling RPG from the Etrian Odyssey team, which sounds like it could be awesome.
141  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Persona 5 and Persona 4 Arena 2 Announced on: November 24, 2013, 11:56:07 AM
Atlus's big countdown is finally over, and they announced four new Persona games  icon_eek, 2 for PS3, one for 3DS, and one for Vita.  The 2 PS3 games are Persona 5 and a sequel to Persona 4 Arena.  There aren't many details for Persona 5 yet.  It's coming in winter 2014 (I'm assuming that means late 2014, not early) and the teaser showed five chairs with manacles and the words "You are slave.  Want emancipation?"

It looks like a great game, but why, out of 365 days in the year, did they choose the absolute worst day to release it?  Not only is one of the biggest handheld games of the year coming out that day (Zelda), you also have Mario for WiiU, and the XBox One and all its games.  It's even an odd Friday release like all the others.  Vita games have a hard enough time getting noticed, but this is just going to get buried.

It looks like the expansion is fairly far along in development, as Blizzard is already doing a Friends and Family beta test of the full game.  There are videos and streams out there of people playing, but given that it's the full game, be wary of spoilers.

There's finally a release date for the PS3 version - March 18, 2014.  There's so mention of the Vita version's release date.  I was hoping they'd go for a December 26 release, as it's the 12-year anniversary of Final Fantasy X's original release date.

I was going to save Zelda for Christmas, but the great reviews have weakened my resolve.

Day One -
Zelda (maybe)

Someday -
Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T Know, Young Justice: Legacy, Mario Party: Island Tour, Super Mario 3D World, Tearaway

Gotta turn on the Words With Friends turn alerts or you'll never know.  icon_smile

The fifth class is apparently the Arcanist, but haven't found much detail on it yet. I would guess it's more of a pure spellcaster type.

The Grim Dawn Wiki mentions a Vigilante mastery class too but that would seem to add up to 6.  icon_razz I read some yakking about a possible guns-focused mastery class so perhaps that's the Vigilante, or perhaps the Wiki is out of date.

They have lots of plans for expansions, so they're probably already planning several classes beyond the five already known.

Game Informer gave the game 10/10 in their review.  I find GI's reviews to be very hit-and-miss, but this is certainly a good sign.

158  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The Wrong Mans on Hulu on: November 12, 2013, 12:31:54 PM
Hulu has a new original series called The Wrong Mans, a half-hour comedy thriller that seems like a mix of The Office and 24.  I've only watched the first two episodes, but it's been very entertaining so far.  TVGuide has a writeup about the show.  The first two episodes are available on Hulu for free, with the rest of the six episodes going up weekly, while Hulu Plus has all the episodes available now.
