I just saw this in the new releases section of Steam, and it looks like an interesting concept. It's a turn-based strategy game in which you build up the cities of two opposing sides (Norse and Greek) and the objective is to keep them well-enough balanced that neither wipes the other out. You can place various resource-producing buildings and mythological units, but you don't have direct control over what the cities produce or how they fight. Impressions in the Steam forum are positive, and the game is only $4.49.

(Although The Next Generation has always scared me off for looking dumb in most episodes i have seen..dressing up and whatnot...a perfect example below)
DS9 and Voyager also used the holodeck for things like that, although not to the extent that TNG did.

Right now I see a lot of comments leaning towards "PS4 [cuz I know what they're offering]". No, no you don't. You know you can share, you know they're working with indie developers to allow them to self-publish.
That, effectively, is all you know. So IMO ATB is right - go ahead and get upset about things said, but don't think that just because Sony hasn't revealed their stuff yet that it's going to be any better than what MS has been willing to say.
As far as specifics go, we don't know a lot about either system. However, Sony has made it clear that they are putting gaming first with the PS4, while MS has made it clear that they're putting TV/music/etc. first. I don't think it's surprising that gamers are siding with Sony now. Perhaps you thought MS's presentation was for you - and that would be missing their point. Their presentation was aimed at non-gamers, and that's exactly the problem. They weren't watching. It's the gaming crowd that watches live-streams of console reveals, not people looking for new ways to watch TV. The vast majority of the people who watched the presentation or even knew it was happening were looking for games, and they didn't get them. If MS was expecting anything other than the poor reception they got, then they're clueless.

The reaction is so negative because MS gave us little to nothing to be excited about and a lot to worry about. They gave us nothing to talk about other than speculating on all the potential downsides. If they had at least unveiled one major game, I don't think the reaction would have been nearly as bad. There are just as many unanswered questions with the PS4, but at least Sony gave us great-looking games to gawk at and draw the focus away from the potential pitfalls of the system.

As to the name Xbox One isn't any dumber than its contemporaries. Wii, New iPad, WiiU, Playstation 4 (good to see they can count - apparently their console is evolutionary rather than revolutionary). It's a name, it's going to be there, and the console is clearly aimed at being a One stop media center. You know, all-in-one? It's not good, it's not bad. It simply is. I get what they're going for, but I still think it's a really bad name. The original XBox is already referred to as the XBox One, and while I doubt anyone will confuse the two, it still makes the machine sound like a step backward. I doubt the name will have much of an effect on anything, but we've seen with the Wii U that names can matter. b) the license for the install is tied to your login (Steam does this, Origin does this, PSN and XBLA already do this). Yes, Steam does this, but I can also buy lots of Steam games for less than $1. MS is getting better with sales on downloadable games, but they're going to have to do better if they want me to forget about used games.

The best way I can describe it is, we're really going to tell one story across two events. So we're going to start on the 21 [of May] and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform and our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned.
People are going to get a great inside look at the making of the new platform and the team that brought it to life. To be honest it's really about the team, the people here. We've never done this before, so it's really exciting to be able to do that. I hope they have some games to show, as that sounds rather boring.

If they did 12 I'd be all over that one. I remember liking it but also being burnt out on all the Japanese RPGs by then so only got a few hours in before putting it aside. Think I could manage another JRPG after this several year hiatus.
There are rumors that Square Enix will unveil a Final Fantasy remake for the Wii U at E3, and I think FFXII is a strong possibility.

I liked season 2 a lot, especially the first half that took place in the fairytale land. They did a great job of making season 2 different from season 1, and season 3 looks to continue that trend. The spinoff looks good, too, although all it seems to have in common with its parent series is the look of Wonderland.

It looks like the series is going to be rather different from the book. Actually, from the preview, it kind of looks like they took some stuff directly from the book, while all some characters have in common with their book counterparts is their names. At least two characters who die at the beginning of the book are alive and well in the trailer, Big Jim is barely even pudgy, Rusty Everett is a young firefighter trapped outside the dome, and Phil Bushey is the sober DJ of a rock music radio station. As long as the series is good, I don't mind the changes, but I am concerned that they plan to turn this into a series if it's successful. It seems it would be difficult to do a proper conclusion to the miniseries if they have to plan for the future.

I hadn't heard of this game until I saw this video, but it looks intriguing. It's a space station-building strategy game with elements of tower defense and fairly minimalist graphics and interface. The game is available on Playstation Mobile/Vita for $5 now, and is coming to Android and iOS in July.

The game is coming to the US this fall under the title Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies as a download-only game. On the plus side, it sounds like it will be cheaper than a physical release would have been - We will be confirming details on the price point in the not-so-distant future which I hope will also shed more light on the strategy at play here.

Yeah, but what are the odds that it actually comes out in the US?
I'd say the odds are very good. Both games have been fully localized, so there would be very little work involved in bringing it over. Also, TOS remains the most popular Tales game in the US, so there's already a built-in fan base.

footage. wonder who the mystery hero is... I'm leaning towards Luke Cage. Rumor has it that Luke Cage is the role that J. August Richards (Gunn from Angel) will be playing. Also, here's the full teaser they showed during tonight's Once Upon A Time finale.

The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world. At least we can make a difference until a supervillain shows up and then we have to hide in the helicarrier and call Iron Man

The second game was set in a recognizable-esque city, but was not that city itself. I haven't read the article, is it actually Seattle or just a very Seattle-like city?
It's Seattle, but the developers said they're trying to recreate the "feel" of the city rather than its exact layout.

Is anyone playing this and having a problem with save games on the PC? When I go to "Load Game", my saves show up as "Locked" and I have to start the game from scratch every time I play. Some people at the Ubi forums say that you have to finish the first mission before you can save, but others have played way past that point and the game will still not save. I'm getting rather tired of playing the beginning of the game over and over again

there's still a chance to hit the final stretch goal: Stronghold and the $4.5M Stretch Goal
We don’t have the final PayPal numbers yet, but we expect to be far short of the $4.5M Stretch Goal. (While Torment’s budget will be bolstered by the generous $200K total in contributions from Brian Fargo and Steve Dengler (@dracogen), these aren’t included in the Stretch Goal calculations. The Stretch Goals were set with these contributions already considered – that is, the $200K sum didn’t apply to determining whether or not we reached any given Stretch Goal. But all of it will be applied to creating a better game and help counterbalance the impact of fees and dropped pledges.)
Many backers have asked about the “Stronghold” that was at the $4.5M Stretch Goal, however. At your request and suggestion, what we’ll do is allow all PayPal contributions through the end of April to count toward determining whether or not we reached this goal. On Monday, we’ll tell you exactly how far we have left to go and through the end of the month we’ll provide more frequent updates on tumblr and Facebook about progress toward that $4.5M goal.
If we do make it by the end of April 30th, we’ll declare that final Stretch Goal achieved! In this case we would include the Stronghold, designing it to fit the flavor of Numenera and to fully support Torment’s themes and narrative. In the immortal words of Barry Manilow, looks like we made it.
