I think it would be fitting if you posted a bit of info on blu ray for those of us who have only read tid bits here and there.

Is the time frame really 2 years?  Wow.  The discs will be cheap right?  Made of some type of paper?

X-Men Legends doesn't really impress technically in terms of sound or visuals, but it's really all about the combat anyway. The fighting is simple, addictive, and enjoyable throughout the long adventure. It's nice to see the X-Men get their due with a game that truly showcases what has made the comics great for three decades. There are a few things that will annoy people, particularly the accidental suicides, but most of Legends is a joy. The story is good, very fitting for the X-Men universe, and every character but Cyclops is perfectly realized. It's more fun with friends, but is still enjoyable all by your lonesome. With a long, involved story mode and bonus modes beyond that, this one will take up a chunk of your life. X-Men Legends is a must for any X-Men fan or fan of dungeon-crawling RPGs.

I used to be a fairly large investor in Gameznflix.

They just really haven't gotten things together though.  Their turnaround is apparently still horrendous and their system flawed (queues messed up etc.).

One thing that bugged the heck out of me when I went through the trial was that everything, regardless if it is released yet, shows up the same.

For example, under the Xbox games they had Fable listed all the way back in July.  You could queue it up and everything.  I hate that, and imagine many people who aren't in the know in regards to release dates get quiet confused.

The price point is right.  The CEO has a vision.  The implentation to this point is not good.

Try the trial at least and tell me what I think.

For the record, I sold out my entire position at $0.14 (bought at .02), now it's selling at .02 again.

" A Silicon Valley startup claims to have cracked one of most elusive goals of the software industry: a near-universal emulator that allows software developed for one platform to run on any other, with almost no performance hit.

Transitive Corp. of Los Gatos, California, claims its QuickTransit software allows applications to run "transparently" on multiple hardware platforms, including Macs, PCs, and numerous servers and mainframes."

"For example, Wiederhold said QuickTransit will allow the next-generation Xbox (which will have a Mac-like PowerPC chip) to run first-generation Xbox software (which was written for an Intel chip).

In demonstrations to press and analysts, the company has shown a graphically demanding game -- a Linux version of Quake III -- running on an Apple PowerBook.

"One of the key breakthroughs is performance," Wiederhold said. "You can't tell the difference between a translated application and a native application."

Very good news if true.

Unreal Tournament is my favorite game of all time.  Period.

I was also ranked extremely high in CTF in UT.  I thought UT2K3 sucked terribly bad and UT2K4 really brought the game closer to the original UT.

Anyway, I kind of agree in regards to the graphics of this game.  Best Graphics ever, is just want teamxbox said so I quoted it.  I know one thing though, the new Unreal engine easily has the best graphics I've seen.

I don't know too much about mods either, I just worry about it being some sort of Action Replay.

Eco, like I said no offense.  I posed the question and am interested in the replies.  Or you could clue in the clueless on what the mod does for you.

Have a good one.

No problem Driver, I understand your concern, especially after playing CS for years.

A mod allowed me to upgrade my hard drive from 10 gigs, to 160 gigs.  Now I can play Divx, avi, wma, every type of video you can think of on my Xbox.  Also, it allows you to play emulators from Atari 2600, to Nintendo, SNES, Genesis, N64, Arcade, Turbo Grafix 16.

Also, it does let me play Xbox games from the hard drive and make backups of Xbox games.

Like I said though, the chip has a switch that must be turned off in order to play on Xbox Live, otherwise MS will ban the Xbox from Live.

I've been looking forward to playing in the league and that is why I reacted as I did, sorry for that.

I hope everything is clear now? smile

Best Looking Xbox Game Ever

That’s a bold statement, isn’t it? Before you even ask the question, we give you the answer. Yes, Unreal Championship 2 looks better than Halo 2, Doom 3, and The Chronicles of Riddick. After E3 we had the chance to see every game out there and now we can tell you that Unreal Championship 2 is hands-down the best looking game on the Xbox.

How is that possible? How can they perform this magic? For the sequel, Epic Games is using a brand new edition of the Unreal Engine; the UE 2X. This highly optimized version of the UE 2.5 engine has been exclusively designed to take advantage of the Xbox hardware. This engine pushes three times the polygons of the first Unreal Championship game and incorporates an advanced shader system that makes possible visual goodness that has not yet been seen in any other Unreal game. In fact, PC gamers will have to wait for the first Unreal Engine 3 powered games to see some of the items Xbox gamers will see this February.

Click here to see more special effects

The list is extensive: emissive materials, full screen light blooming, image space effects (such as color space manipulation), radial blurs, dynamic explosions, space distortions that simulate warping effects or water refractions, depth of field techniques that create different blur effects; and the list goes on. Believe me, these are the best visuals you’ll see on this generation and we’ll have to wait for the Xbox successor to get better graphics.

These innovative visual features are not just “eye candy” as they give Unreal Championship 2 a distinctive look and now everything (from the environments to the characters and weapons) look brand new. You can tell it’s the Unreal universe, but it has never looked this good.

The art of Unreal Championship 2’s levels is so rich that it resembles an RPG or an action/adventure game more than an action-packed shooter. The frenetic action of the game doesn’t let you enjoy the levels in the same way other types of games do, but you’ll still be fascinated. This is also proof that the Unreal universe is definitely big enough to host other types of games besides shooters.

Another item worth clarifying is that this time there is no way you can confuse your teammates or team-based locations. One of the criticisms the first game had was how difficult it was to distinguish teammates (especially from long distances) and also team locations. Often players would have an enemy’s flag and end up running right back into the opposing base after losing their bearings when trying to avoid fire.

Now, unless you are color blind, everything is properly marked and fully distinguishable. Using the emissive materials, your character will be themed accordingly to your team color. If you have used the Color Chooser feature found in Windows Media Player, that gives you a general idea. Gone are the colored lights over a character’s shoulders to distinguish their team. The masked appearance will also apply to the levels, which now have panels, neons, and other architectural elements that emit light with the color associated to the respective team.

Screenshots do not do it justice.

Okay, here's the latest. It has always been our intention to have the first roster update be "opening day accurate". The 7th was an honest human mistake, an off-by-one-week clerical error.

We are shooting for the 16th (during the 10am PST maintenance) as the release of the opening day roster. Between now and then we will also be modifying the servers so that any league created but not scheduled by then will use the new roster when the schedule is generated. That way you guys can start filling your leagues now and hit the ground running when the roster update comes out.

16th - online roster update for both Xbox and PS2

16th - offline roster update for PS2

23rd - offline roster update for Xbox (it must go through MS certification which takes about a week).

Can we plan on starting this season next week then?

"It still possesses the series' trademark ability to deliver Tempest-like 'in the zone' moments of remarkable intensity unlike any of its contemporaries, but now comes with a confidently revised dynamic, marking this as Criterion Games' finest hour.
