I think it's wrong for me to want this game, but I do... It's a bloody shame that the xbox version won't be out until next year though... all the other systems get it at the beginning of November. We could have an XBox Live poker tournament! In! Why is the Xbox version coming out late? That would rule.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Halo 2 Information [Leaked Beta Info]
|
on: August 16, 2004, 08:26:31 PM

RUMOR #1: Details of the Halo 2 beta test have been leaked.
Source: A post on the official Xbox forums which was republished on the Gaming Age forums.
The official story: "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation"--Microsoft spokesperson.
What we heard: With Halo 2 only 87 days away, gamers are ravenously devouring every scrap of information Bungie makes made public. However, they are even more interested in what Bungie is keeping secret. So when the alleged beta-test leak appeared on the Xbox forums, Master Chief wannabes went to condition red. It described three new multiplayer maps: "Zanzibar," the factory shown off at E3; "Mid-ship" which takes place inside a Covenant Battle cruiser; and "Ivory Tower," a greenhouse filled with elevators. It also outlined the new weapons in the game, including: the new SMG ("this little baby packs a punch"); the Battle Rifle, which can be used to snipe from afar or up-close as an assault rifle; the Covenant beam rifle ("equivalent to the human Sniper Rifle"); the Brute Shot ("shoots grenades that bounce around"); the hard-to-find Covenant Carbine ("the best gun in the game"); and the Energy Sword ("don't mess with the best 'cause the best don't mess"). The leak also killed some rumors ("You CANNOT duel wield plasma swords…There IS NO DIFFERENCE aside from appearance between Spartans and elites in MP.") But veteran Halo fans will be most excited by the following tidbit: "Halo 2 will support four people on one Xbox for LIVE play. All at the same time." But is the leak accurate? Given the fact Microsoft pulled the original from the Xbox.com forums, the answer is almost certainly "yes."
Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. from http://www.gamespot.comScreenshot LOL, well that link didn't work, check it out in this thread at dslreports: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,11052558~mode=flat

Did any of you play it at E3? I didn't get a chance to play it but I watched a few people play it and it's beautiful. The people I watched play it (Xbox girls), really sucked at it though so I didn't get to see that much racing, just a lot of crashing.

Hey all, I think we should just go ahead and use the built in Tournament feature. With that said, we can either play a 16 player tournament or a 31 team tourney. I think we should probably go with 16 since we didn't have 31 originally interested. Everyone agree?
I don't have the time nowadays to take care of the hosting etc., so someone else can take over.
Someone can go ahead and host the league if they want (jessie may be doing so already)
In Both with the Titans, and for the league I think all the team claims should still be valid.

I'm going to see if i can't get the league put together tonight.
Anyone else want in? Why don't you just go ahead and host it then. Everyone who claimed their teams in this thread has already said they want in a league. So, let the team claims stand and host it if you want.

If someone else would like to start it that is fine with me. I just want to play in it with the Titans It appears it's just a matter of setting it up and sending out the invites, both of which I don't know if I will have time to get too soon. If someone wants to grab the reigns and go with it that would be awesome, just use the team reservations everyone has already posted here.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Halo 2 Demo? Rumors

thats ridiculous, who would get that tatoo, that must be a temp funny though, not to change topics but are you really expecting the demo out on august 24th like that ilovebees thing says? I'm not expecting it, just wondering what the chances are. That would be awesome though. If they released a multiplayer demo in August it would succeed in increasing the hype for the game even more, as long as the demo was in good shape.

I believe when I was messing around with the Tournament Creation, that you can either have a 16 or 20 man tournament (you can have different #'s of course, but these two are the closest to where we stand right now).
As of this post, I think we have somewhere around 17 or 18.
We should at some point discuss a starting date for this.
If we decide to begin the official Console Gold Season on August 20th, and we want to do the Tournament as a warm-up, we can do that.
I'm sure Eco is on top of this.
LD Yea, I think that is how we should do it. I will go ahead and set it up using Live's tournament feature as that makes the most sense. I will still update the bracket on the website so everyone can keep up with it there as well. I will try and work on it Sunday as I'm going out of town tonight.

So, now that ESPN 2K5 is out it'll probably stay in my Xbox the most between now and next year's version. There are still a ton of games I'm looking forward to this year though and Burnout 3 is the next one to come out. I've never enjoyed a racing game as much as I enjoyed Burnout 3 at E3, and the version wasn't near complete. It had such a huge sense of speed, I almost felt tired after playing a few rounds because of how much I tensed up. The crashes are spectacular. Period. Every aspect of the game screams fun and I cannot imagine how much fun it'll be on Xbox Live! Here are some previews for you all to check out if you haven't already: http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox/824/Burnout-3-Takedown/p1Game of the Year? Sure thing, why not. Yeah, it owns. It's technically sharp, eye-openingly pretty, and shockingly fast. You've got to play this.

Great impressions Lockdown, and surprise... I pretty much agree with you on every point. I'm loving the game. I played 2 games last night, the first was 1 on 1 against my friend, then 2 on 2 with some other friends. The 2 on 2 game was easily one of the best sports gaming experiences I've ever had. My friend and I lost, even though at halftime we were up by 17 points... Still, it was a great game and I forsee many late nights with this game. Bravo Sega/VC.

You know what, you guys don't want to wait for me to come back to high speed internet on the 20th of August. I'll drop from the league.
Good news is the Patriots are free for someone to dominate with  I for one would be fine with that. I'll go with whatever the majority says though The tournament starts on August 8th, so that would give us time to finish it before the league starts. And, I think using the tournament as a preseason tournament of sorts is a good idea!

Is it possible for two members of the league to live in the same house? If need be, we can just play our head-to-head games offline and then have the loser forfeit. If so, I'll be in also. My bastard brother already took the Panters, so I guess I'll take the Vikings. If someone else wants them though (as in, they've always been your favorite team), I don't mind taking some other team (preferably the Ravens or the Falcons). You unfortunately must have separate Live! accounts, and the games must be played online. Their system keeps up with it, not us so it isn't at all possible. Sorry Last year, Ralph and I encountered the same problem in the PS2 league. What we ended up doing was playing off-line in our head-to-head matchup and then told the administrator of our league who won. Apparently, he had the ability to assign forfeits, so he just gave a forfeit to the one of us who lost and a win to the one who won. If that is possible, I would be more than happy to do it.
