I think I'm getting close to the end.  This is easily one of the best games I've ever played.  I wish I knew how close i am, but don't want to look it up as I don't want to know anything at all.

All the other podcasts is listen to are related to Arsenal.

What ones do you listen to?

I listen to Arsecast and The Tuesday Club & occasionally A Berkamp Wonderland.

There is also a US Arsenal Podcast that I listened to off and on last season.  I can't find it now though and haven't listened to it this year yet.

The only thing wrong with mine is a worn silicone pad, but that is covered under the warranty so I might as well replace it.

I'm pretty sure I wore it out playing Fifa.  I tend to be rough on controllers while playing Fifa.

Lots of birthdays, happy birthday to all of you.

I hope to get in some TLOU and Hearthstone this weekend.  My wife and I are closing a new house in Thursday so I'll definitely be doing lots of packing too.

127  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: August 22, 2014, 06:10:40 PM
I preordered the white controller.  Mainly b/c my launch controller is worn out and I want to take advantage of the warranty but don't want to be without a controller.  Plus the white controller does look pretty good.

If you like Hearthstone, you'll love the Angry Chicken.

Great game though!

Yeah, that sequence really sucked. Just figure out a path to run away without getting caught. You'll have a really hard time trying to fight your way out of there.

Wow just got here tonight.  Got eaten 3 times in a row, now I'm playing FIFA to calm down.  Do you have to find range key card to escape?

Of course it's nothing more. They're a business, and they're trying to compete and gain market share. That's what businesses do.

Yeah?  And MS has made enormously poor decisions the past few years (with every single aspect of their business).   That my friend is  the point.

Should you buy a lot?  I dunno, under $20 it's a steal, and I agree with the sentiment of too many eggs in one basket.  It is however about when and where you buy that basket.  Stop loss orders are your friend .
142  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gamescom 2014 on: August 14, 2014, 05:46:34 PM
For what it's worth I read every post in this thread, however, I do not think Microsoft has any idea what the hell they're doing. I say this as a Microsoft guy for the past decade. I have only owned Xbox is, and laptops PCs running windows. I find, they lost all credibility when they released Windows 8, which I submit to you is a shitty operating system that I hate that I have to use. That is why, my next computer will not be running windows. That I assure you.   These reasons, coupled with their crappy E3 last year, are the reasons I have lost complete total faith in Microsoft. I have no interest in anything they have to offer, I could care less about what they do. And I think all of this is nothing more than them trying to gain a little bit of momentum in a console race that they are getting smashed.

Absolutely, freaking, 100% smashed. And I really don't give a damn, but it is what it is.

Agree that it looks awesome.

I'd be sleeping on the couch if I backed a kick starter...  We are in the process of moving to a bigger house as we've out grown our current one.  I can't very easily tell my wife to go easy at Target, and do something like this...  Keep us updated on it.

Best place to see a recap of the Sony conference?

148  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Why all the hate toward Activision? on: August 11, 2014, 04:31:08 PM
I'm genuinely curious.

I bought a bit of their stock at just over $18 per share and stick by that purchase, but I was unaware of any discontent gamers have toward them.

I get the EA hate etc, and am sure there are valid reasons to dislike ATVI as well, I just want to know what they are!

I bought it because they have more major releases this year than any other year I'm aware of, and the fact that Hearthstone is like crack, and it knew it would be a money press for the the moment  it as released on iPad.  People spent thousands on candy crush for goodness sake...

If I didn't scroll through this thread, I would not have remembered that I was reading that grisham book.  I am about 1/2 way through Rothruss' first book. It's good, but apparently not a must read in my mind...

I have literally not finished a book this year.

Crazy.
Have you finished Name of the Wind?  I really liked that one, and it may have been a timing thing or something for me and I feel the 2nd book is weaker but still enjoyable.  Just curious what you thought.

I found this diary from an aid worker quiet riveting, and scarily similar to many books I've read.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ebola-virus-british-aid-workers-3956692

I'm by no means making light of the situation with the book reference, and realize the risk is low, but you can't tell me you read it and didn't think of a zombie novel.

There are Islamist extremists running rampant...in Mexico?  And they're coming over the border?

Apparently I have missed some significant developments lately.

There are 1,000's of non-Mexicans crossing daily.    To think that those that want us all dead haven't already used the open border, or aren't actively trying to is completely naive.   Almost as naive as thinking a majority of those crossing are children.

Chikungunya has made it here, and has a confirmed case that doesn't originate from Caribbean travel.  A bribe in the right place to let someone get on an international flight, and we've got serious problems.  The big thing keeping Ebola from being truly terrifying is that it's spread by fluids, not through the air.  That, and it's acquired from African animals.  It would be quite difficult for it to obtain a foothold here in the US, and then migrate to a wild animal population repository.  It's a bit different when your society doesn't require the eating of wild animals.

Good points.

It does spread from sweat though, right, as that's a fluid?  That, and our awful open southern border, is why I'm more concerned.

I believe so, but again, you've got to connect the dots.  How much travel is going to originate in African areas, head to Mexico via some path, and then trickle across the southern border?  Especially for people that are consuming bush meat or those that come in close proximity to said people?
I pray to God you're right, but with the Islamist extremists running rampant, I don't find it all that far fetched.
