2  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / FS: ATI FirePro V8750 3D Graphics Card on: April 02, 2013, 06:33:14 AM
I have a used but works perfectly ATI FirePro 3D Graphics Card model V8750.  It was in my workstation for just over a year and never had a single problem with it.  I'm building a new rig so all I have is the card.  Of course, you can grab the manual and drivers online.

A friend used it for CAD, I played games with it (Diablo III, Skyrim, etc.)  Here are the specs:

Ultra high-end 3D workstation graphics solution
Powered by scaleable parallel processing Unified Shader architecture
    AutoDetect for optimized application performance
    PCI Express® 2.0 x16 bus interface
2GB GDDR5 graphics frame buffer memory with 115.2 GB/s bandwidth
    2 DisplayPort Outputs
    1 Dual Link DVI-I Output
High Dynamic Range (HDR) rendering with 8-bit, 10-bit & 16-bit per RGB color component support
Full Shader Model  4.1 support for vertex and pixel shaders
Certification for many CAD and DCC applications pending
    Microsoft® DirectX® 10.1 support and OpenGL 3.2 support
    154W maximum power

They retail for about $1,300 (just looked it up on Amazon) was looking for $350 or so.  Will ship priority mail, insured, with delivery confirmation.  Paypal only please.

I've got +13 100% feedback.  PM if interested.

I just finished the game last night.  Question on the ending:

Spoiler for Hiden:
After I got all the way to the end of the Alien ship and killed the mind control alien dude the entire earth started shaking.  My squad ran toward the ship but didn't get on (not sure why)  The purple sphere started going up which made the alien ship go up and explode over the earth.  My transport ship was headed back to base and then the final score popped up.

Did I miss something or was the ending that abrupt for everyone?

Did my squad all die on the alien ship?

Just seems like there should have been a final dialog back at the base or something...

I'm pretty sure

Spoiler for Hiden:
your entire squad, minus the volunteer manipulating the sphere, boards the Skyranger and safely escapes the blast radius.  I think you get a brief shot of them in the straps as the plane weathers a shockwave from the alien craft.  One way or another, though, it's definitely my assumption they survived.

But no, there's no denouement back at the base.  Maybe it's something they're planning to extend via DLC.

Got it, thanks.

Really enjoying this game!  It really captures the feel of the original and the tactical combat is fun.

Played about 4 hours last night and was finally able to outfit everyone with new armor and laser weapons.

Good stuff!  Can't wait to finish it and up the difficulty and play it again.

What is this Nephalem Valor that you speak of?  Something that drops in higher difficulty levels?  I'm only in Nightmare, Act III.

You have to be level 60 to get it.  Once you are level 60, you get 1 stack for every pack of elites you kill, up to a max of 5.  Lasts 30 mins, and time resets when you kill another pack.

Ah, thanks.

Those aren't recipes. You use those to level up the crafters and also to make the higher end items/gems.

Yes, thanks, I finally figured it out when I tried to level my Jeweler.  Makes sense now...

Did you play a multiplayer game or join another's game (even if they dropped) when you were doing this?  If so then your "saved" game was completely separate from the game you were playing.  It would have actually reset for you when you finished normal and started at the beginning of nightmare the next day.

Good thought but no, I was playing solo.  Oh well, I played some more this afternoon and everything seems fine.
15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: June 02, 2012, 11:10:54 PM
I had a weird thing happen to me.  I had just killed Diablo in normal mode and played far enough in nightmare mode to kill the blacksmith's wife.  Logged off last night.  When I logged on this morning, I was back at the very beginning of nightmare where you first go into town, meet Leah, etc.  It's like my account was rolled back.  None of my stuff was missing though.  Weird.

Also, I had yet to see any recipe drops at all until this morning where I had about 12 blacksmith and 10+ jeweler recipe drops in about 90 minutes of playing.

I picked up some item that shows up in my inventory with a "?" and says it needs to be identified.  Are there identify scrolls somewhere or how do I identify it?

Also, seems like I can buy better gear than I can craft.  I'm buying yellow gear right now for my level 12 DH that seems pretty powerful.  Does this level out (I'm sill in Act 1) in later acts or am I overpowered right now?

Does anyone know how to get schematics for crafting items that aren't trained? For example, as armstech I get recipes for +aim and +cunning barrels, but I'd like to be able to make "Commando" barrels which are aim/end but weighted towards end.

slicing, treasure hunting, and drops

I have 400 slicing and can say I've never gotten any crafting schematics from 1-400.  I have plenty of mission discoveries (20+) but no schematics at all.  They must drop pretty frequently from whatever does drop them because there are a ton listed on the neutral and regular GTN terminals.

I would swear that I have had several drop as rewards from investigation?  Also, I think they usually drop when you crit on your mission role, i.e. you get the regular mission reward plus a schematic or another mission.  For me, that seems to be about 10% of the time (which jives with Maco's crit ability percent.)

Question on space battles:

Are there certain hard points on the capital ships and cruisers that simply can't be destroyed?  I'm referring to the antenna array at the bottom of the circular base and the bridge of the capital ship.  Even the cruiser has a target that won't blow up (it is just in front of the engines.)  I shoot missiles and pound them with lasers and they only flash with blue and white circles but never get destroyed.  I'm just wondering if I need to hit them harder or they simply won't blow up (even though they are a target, i.e. surrounded by a red circle.)

Any advice?

I'm having a lot of fun with the game so far.  I have a bounty hunter up to level 28 now.

Just curious, what are all these droid parts I keep getting, i.e. core, motor, etc. used for?  Can you build a droid somehow and what does he do?

This part has not been intuitive to me so any help is appreciated.

You equip them on your droid companion. He's called T7 on the Republic side, not sure if there's an Empire equivalent.

Ahhh, thank you.  Yes, there is an annoying droid on my ship (I'm Imperial).  I never thought to try to upgrade any of his parts.  He is quite annoying (he always chatters about repainting the walls inside my cabin or using a new recipe to make a meal) so I'm not sure he has any combat skills.  Sounds like he majored in Home Economics instead of blasters.  I guess I'll have Mako stay in the ship and I'll take the dude out to get some power converters down at Toshi station and see if we can drum up some trouble with the locals and see if he's got game.

Second question.  Are the GTNs linked, i.e. the is the fleet GTN linked to the planetary GTNs?

Entirely up to you. You can keep replacing your armor every level or three, or you can just put in mods for the orange version you have (and keep a consistent look).

There are 3 GTNs per server - all the good guys, all the bad guys, and Nar Shadda (or whatever the planet is called) that holds a 'neutral' GTN (that both sides can use). So yes, the GTNs are linked on their respective sides.

Got it, thanks!

The first gold-farmer, Terms of Service violation account suspensions/bans took place recently. Some of it just plain old heavy duty credit-farming, and a smaller number apparently due to some clever, repeated exploitation of the Ilum zone:

Recent actions against some customer accounts
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=1060894#edit1060894
Quote
First, action was taken against a number of accounts for what's commonly known as 'gold farming' - or in our case, credit farming. These accounts were found to be exploiting the game in a variety of ways to maximize their credits in order to sell them to other players. Our Terms of Service team took action against these accounts and removed them permanently from the game.

Second, a smaller number of accounts were warned or temporarily suspended for exploiting loot containers on Ilum. To be completely clear, while players may choose to travel to Ilum earlier than the recommended level (40+) and may loot containers if they can get to them, in the cases of those customers that were warned or temporarily suspended, they were systematically and repeatedly looting containers in very high numbers resulting in the game economy becoming unbalanced.

None of these accounts were banned for their actions and no accounts have been banned for travelling to Ilum while still relatively low level. By comparison, the number of accounts that were warned or temporarily suspended was considerably lower than the number of accounts banned for 'credit farming'.
The loophole seems to be there's nothing to stop a, say, L12 toon from picking up L50 loot and then selling it for a fortune. The game has "level minimum requirements" or class restrictions for equipping something -- that doesn't prevent the L12 from grabbing L50 items and selling 'em for a fortune on the AH, which seems to be what was happening there.

Reid said they don't plan to level-restrict Ilum. So I suspect either they're going to adjust AI "swarms" to make it next to impossible for low level toons to exploit the loot loopholes there, or they'll have to find a way to restrict what levels can pickup the max-level loot there.

I had been getting some in-game spam from people trying to sell me credits.  I reported them as spam and I wonder if this action was against these people.  Interesting that it didn't take them long to start cracking down on this (which is a good thing).

Looking for a new multimedia/gaming keyboard.  USB with backlight as I like to play games in low light.  Would like media controls.  I don't really need macro stuff as I don't typically program my keyboards for macros.

Any suggestions?

Looking for durability as my previous bluetooth keyboard had connection problems (hence the need for USB) and my WASD keys started to wear out.

I was able to get in yesterday and probably played 6 hours or so.  Most of my experience was really smooth.  Load times were very fast, no lag, etc.  There is a bug where when you exit the game, it hangs and you have to ALT-F4 to get out.  Another time after about a 2-hr session, the game wouldn't recognize mouse clicks and I had to restart.  Otherwise, it has been fine.

I rolled up a smuggler and got him to level 10.  So far, the questing has bee good with some interesting lightside/darkside choices along the way.  There is a bit of time wasted running from point a to point b and some of the interior locations are enormous (i.e. more running) but it has been very good so far.
