We took 12 of us to the midnight show last night. The theater we went to had three midnight shows and they were all sold out when we arrived at about 9:15. Luckily we had bought out tickets already. Our early arrival put us very near the front of the line and the rest of my family dressed up for the event. We were celebrating my daughter's 14th birthday with some of her friends and ours.
I loved the movie. I thought it was very well done. The action and drama and comedy all were very good. This has got to be the funniest of the Harry Potter movies. Of course there were things in the book cut from the movie and things the movie changed to keep the story flowing, but I thought it was all done very well and the movie flowed very well. It was 2.5 hours and it didn't drag at all.

Bender's Game was fantastic. Much better than the first two movies which I thought were a notch below the original series.
Any new Futurama is great though. It's my all time favorite show. It holds up so well to repeated viewings. I must have seen each original episode more than 10 times.

I think Maggie Moo's owns both Marble Slab and Coldstone.
Better Batter is the nectar of the Gods.
For some reason I crave Ice Cream more when it's cold than in the summer. That's south Texas cold, so like 40 f.

I'm starting to enjoy the story. The first couple of game days seemed like there was an hour of story and 10 minutes of gameplay. It's got a good balance now. The game seems like it's getting easier now but still very fun.

Very late to the party here. I picked this game up used after not wanting to spend $40 on it when it came out last year.
I've been playing for a while now and I'm really enjoying it. There is so much going on in this story it's quite hectic, but I'm getting used to everything now and doing much better at the battles. I've just stated day 6, very cool game. I'm glad I finally got to try it.
DS's are fantastic little game machines.

About 12 years ago my wife decided to audition for the local community theatre. She got a part and was hooked. About a year later I was talked into playing a role in a production that needed more males. I got hooked too. Since that time I've been in about 20 productions and my wife too (not always the same shows) and I've watched our community theatre grow from something very amatueristic to something to be proud of.
We've met our best friends through the theater group and have been to many shows in the Houston and surrounding areas. It's been loads of fun. This summer I was in a production of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" with my wife and two kids, it was something special for the whole family.
Right now I'm just starting rehearsals for "Little Shop of Horrors". I'm playing Orin the dentist who was played by Steve Martin in the movie. It's really cool.
Anyway, I would not have guessed it earlier in my life, but I really enjoy the theater now.

almost bought this up last month when amazon had it for $15. kind of regret not grabbing it actually as i rented the first one from gamefly and really liked what i had seen. i'll probably pick this up used some time down the road.
I was able to snag this from Amazon when it was $15. That was an amazing deal for a game that's practically new.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [DS] mini impressions of Ninjatown and Rune Factory 2
|

My kids got two DS games this Christmas that Daddy likes.
The first is Ninjatown. This story is simple and cute as are the graphics, but the gameplay is really fun.
This is a tower defense type game, and I'm new to these.
Devils are invading Ninjatown to cause havoc and steal the recipe for Ninja Star cookies that are the pride and joy (and currency) for Ninjatown. You build huts that house ninjas (different type huts house ninja with differing skills) and then the Ninjas try to defeat the Devils as they invade town. As you defeat devils you get money (cookies) to upgrade the huts or build more. It starts out easy (but fun) and gets challanging pretty fast (for me anyway). I've only played for a couple hours (some solo, some helping my son) but the game is really well done and oozes personality.
The second game is Rune Factory 2 (A Fantasy Harvest Moon).
This game has some typical Harvest Moon gameplay which consists of farming, fishing and building relationships with the townsfolk. But adds a fantasy twist and some dungeon crawling. I played Rune Factory one for many, many hours and so far everything seems more balanced in two. One new addition to this game is there all formal tasks you can do for different townsfolk that are posted on a message board in the town square. You start doing these (not much choice in the matter) because the rewards are sometimes important tools you need for your home, farm or dungeon crawling. This one is a very good Harvest Moon type game.

Here's something that I think about alot of the racism in this country. I'm white and I live in the rural south. I'm also 41. There are a lot of people that are older than me that seem very racist in things like e-mails and what not. My Grandfather (now 85) that I have worked with for the past 18 years is included with these people. He stereotypes blacks based on what he grew up with and what he sees on the news and in other forms of media. He will tells racist jokes and say some very insensitive racist things, but in an individual meeting with a black person, he will treat them with respect and can enjoy their company.
People like him were brought up in a different America and I can kinda forgive them for that. But these folks are dying out and not really passing on that racism. I think the number of people with a blind hate type racism against blacks is a fairly small number.
That's not to say I'm not worried about somewith with a blind hate for blacks could attempt something with Obama. I just hope the Secret Service is up to the task of protecting him.
I'm excited for an Obama presidency because I think it could go a long way to further marginalizing racism is our country. I think we are headed that way now, but it's a generational thing.

I loved this movie too.
Iteresting side note. Vince Vaugn dug the movie so much that he got it's director to direct his upcoming "Four Christmas's" movie.

Last night's episode was my favorite hour of TV in a long, long time. I laughed and laughed. I really enjoy almost every minor character. It's kinda like the office where the minor characters might get one line an episode and they just nail em. The main characters interaction is just right too. Such a great episode in a really great show.

I've been playing this since I finished Finay Fantasy Tactics. I'm only in chapter 2 at the moment, but I'm enjoying the game so far. It comes at a bad spot after just spening 100+ hours on my new favorite DS game.

Up until last week, where I live wasn't in a downturn. I don't know how Ike is going to affect my business long term. But this week has been almost dead.
My family was in a pretty big debt hole a few years ago and we've been digging out slowly. Personally things will be much better in about 14 months when we pay off the loan. My flooring business is very small but it's been going great this year and I hope it continues.
The one thing is the higher gas prices and grocery prices have affected my family more than anything else.
