Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Paris Hilton fascinating? Uh, no

I concur.
Paris Hilton has no redeeming anything about her except money. I don't think she's attractive, she's an idiot and a lousy actress.
She is definately not facisnating.

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Everquest 2...Freeport or Qeynos..

According to my completely unscientific method. On my server (Crushbone), Qeynos has almost twice as many people based there as Freeport.
This comes from checking the Freeport Broker in the morning and finding 300+ pages of stuff, then checking the Qeynos one and finding 600+ pages of stuff.

I have finished over 100 quests in EQ2. I'm only lvl 16. I haven't used spoiler sites to finish quests (although I have used them to find quests).
The journal is really handy for solving quests.
Focus on the quests you know where to go, and not the few quests that are a little vague.

Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / EQ2 hints and tips

Just a heads up if you are a quester.
Examine everything
If you see a hand icon over some piece of the world that's flashing, right click and examine. I've gotten several quests this way, at least three of them I have seen listed on any spoiler sites.
Examine any drops you get too, lots of quests are triggered from examining drops.

I've not had too much trouble soloing as a scout as long as I pick solo targets.
This is at lvl 10.
I am finishing off some quests I got from lvls 7 to 9, and the kills get easier every lvl gained.

"Living is easy with eyes closed."
Which is a lyric from the Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever. Not that that means anything, but you never know. Good episode tonight again.

I don't get upset much when I drive. I expect other drivers to be idiots, and plan accordingly.
I probably helps that I have about a 2 minute drive to and from work.

My wife actually called the Locke thing at the beginning. As he was laying on the beach after the crash looking at his shoe she saw his shoe was new and said he was paralized before the crash. We couldn't believe it when she called it right. Still enjoying this show alot.

I think Shaq is going to have a monster year in Miami. Remember he is out to prove himself all over again and I think that will be motivation enough for him to dominate. I'm not sure they'll get past Detroit or Indiana though, but the rest of the East seems weak.
The West looks tough on the other hand, although I think the East will have the champion again this year.
San Antonio should be excellent this year. Minnesota should be very good as well. Denver and Utah should be much better this year as well. Sacramento and Dallas should be a little worse, the Lakers should be a lot worse. Houston is a wild card. I expect Yao to be improved this year, and it should be fun to have McGrady and Yao team up, that should be an excellent one two punch. I haven't even mentioned Phoenix, Memphis and New Orleans either.
I'm really looking forward to this season.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Day 4 without Pepsi...

Recently I've tried to switch from regular sodas to the sorta diet 7 Up Plus soda.
I think that 7 Up plus is pretty good, much better than regular diet drinks which I can't stand.
I'm not a big soda drinker though, usually one a day, maybe two somedays. I really like Kool-Aid though, that's got plenty of sugar though.
I've been toying with the idea of giving up caffinated drinks, but I haven't done it yet.

I still love pinball, even though I haven't been able to play any good machines in a few years.
I went from pinball to early arcade machines (Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pacman). Throw in an Atari 2600 from the late 70s. Go into the arcade heydays of the 80s.
I didn't get my first computer until about 1992. Although I played a few computer games in college. Had lots of fun with a TurboGrafix for awhile in the early 90s too.

What I loved about the Gone Gold forum was the fact that we were all gamers. I think that holds true here too.
I've been a gamer for 30 years, ever since playing pinball with my dad at the local hamburger joint when I was 6 or so. I know lots of people where I live, I like alot of them. None of them are gamers.
I like that as different as we all are collectively, we are still gamers. I think it's neat to see the opinions of gamers on interesting subjects like politics and religion as well as TV, movies, music, commercials, sodas, whatever.
I appreciate the chance to share opinions on all topics.
I also think the politics will die down after the election.

I don't watch hockey, but I feel for all those that do. It sucks to look forward to a season and a strike screws it up.
Here's hoping they eventually work things out to the betterment of the league and get back to playing.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GameBoy Advance recommendations for my son

Wow. We have a GBA in our closet to give to our son on his 5th birthday next week.
We already have one in the family. It was for his sister but she's not as much of a gamer as the boy looks to be.
He loves Warioware. Which is cool because the grown up in the house love it too. It requires some reading, but not much.
I might have to check out the Crash Purple and Spyro Orange games for him.

I'll chime in for a religion and politics forum too. I hardly every posted in the Gone Gold one, but I read it constantly. (except for the whinefests)
I find politics very interesting, even though I'm a moderate and don't think either side is evil.

Backe has done well enough lately. I'm willing to take a shot with him.
Munro has been bad, but you gotta use him this series to let Clemens and Oswalt rest a little.
The nice thing is the Cardinals starting pitchers are very hittable so maybe the Astros can win a couple of slugfests.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [music] list some great ballads
|
on: October 11, 2004, 07:27:36 PM
|
I think a great ballad in music is a beautiful thing. Music really is an emotional thing with me and a great ballad can move me more than any other medium (TV/movie/play/whatever). I also think that for every good ballad there are 10 to 15 awful ones. In fact, I would imagine that if I chose an all time awful song list; ballads would be all that's on it. Anyway, I'm not sure my definition of a ballad will match yours but here it is anyway. Some really great ballads (in no particular order) Sinead O'Connor - Troy (supreme emotion set to music) OMD - The Romance Of The Telescope (OMD did great ballads, this is my favorite) Echo & The Bunnymen - Rust (this is newer E&TB, 1999 I think) Killing Joke - You'll Never Get To Me (one of the hardest ballads ever) Tom Petty - Free Falling (love the guitar) The Cars - All Mixed Up (I usually don't like Cars ballads, but this one is great) Mazzy Star - Fade Into You (only Mazzy Star song I know) Interpol - Lief Erikson (best album closer ever) Chris Isaac - Wicked Game (very sexy ballad) Jesus And Mary Chain - Just Like Honey (superb, JAMC song) That's just a few, I'm sure I forgot many, but this was fun to think about. What do you think?

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / CG Music Thread - What are you listening to?

I've been listening to
Interpol - Antics -- I really like this one, I think Evil is now my favorite Interpol song. Not Even Jail is great too.
The Faint - Wet From Birth -- Southern Belles In London Sing is the coolest song around right now. Who would of thought you could get such a great dance song with all the strings and acoustic guitars.
Tears For Fears - Everybody Loves A Happy Ending -- This album is really growing on me. Call Me Mellow is supurb.
