if ya like trade and fightin - get Privateer!  its awesome love it (the original more than the second, though the second has some sweeter graphics that ya might be able to stand today - it flies more like tie fighter while the first is more wing commander).  oh and tie fighter is the best flight sim... ever... dont argue just accept it smile - if ya want a prettier version (kinda) of that grab alliance

2729  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Girlfriend wants me to move to Italy with her.... on: February 24, 2005, 10:01:32 PM
yup yup Italian embassy good start, dont forget bout US embassy in Italy too - your congressional offices are also always willin to help (constituent services and whatnot smile) - just ask bout what you would need to work, the process paperwork etc and get it started once youre sure because it can  be lenghty

also if you happen to be second gen italian or if immediate relatives have property there i think its pretty easy to get citizenship - but again the 2 embassies and your state reps office will be good places to go to get an idea of what ya need

and if you dont have passport get to post office that takes a few months to get through (not to do all the stuff just to wait for it to get processed or whatever bureaucratic bs takes that long)

holy shit sorry that was long
2732  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone been on a cruise? on: February 11, 2005, 05:49:24 AM
im gonna play devil's advocate here.  ive never been a fan to tell ya the truth.  when you go on vacation - do you enjoy spendin most of your time on the plane or in the hotel?  because thats essentially what cruises start to feel like, especially for longer than a week.  alaska / north western is slightly different, because there are some waterbound things that are just gorgeous - iceburgs driftin are a sight.  that said - i always much prefered to go somewhere and thoroughly explore it, not spend 5 hours doin the tourist routine then the rest of the day in the hotel (cruise ship).  also, if you're a big scuba fan cruises are a lil bit better (caribbean) BUT only if youve done it for years and can appreciate the varied spots - otherwise one dive will seem like any other.  that said - you can get a much better and more personal experience decidin on your own where you want to go and findin every hidden lil area of a spot - but again if youre a fan of the sport youd prob be doin that anyway and not even consider a cruise for variety of location.  last thing to consider - if the "other" is a recent romantic aquisition - make sure youre ready to be spendin ALOT of time together - again something that isnt as well suited for a cruise - at least if you "go somewhere" you can spend the days wanderin varied areas, shoppin at the local markets and awesome exclusive places (im a huge shoppin fan so i love hittin up the boutiques and such), different places to eat etc - whereas on cruise youre gonna be spendin every night at the same bar or the same lil room.  if you like to really explore places, take in all they have, find the exclusive / remote / "hidden" spots, temples, museums, galleries, clubs whatever then I would say no way.  if you like to hit the big things then move on it might be more to your likin but i always prefered travellin on my terms than island hopin with a curfew - "ooh ah, now back on the bus" smile
2733  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is Arrested Development on the Chopping Block? on: February 11, 2005, 05:30:08 AM
I think it actually works out that the BETTER a show does, the more likely it is to get axed.  im sure the last thing networks want are expensive name brand actors because they cost money!  you can pay bob dirt until he realizes that his show is worth anythin - the last thing they want is another seinfeld or friends.  especially when ya can either 1) run a good show for a season or 2) make yet another no script, no actor virtually no set reality show or 3) just air yet another epidsode of said sienfeld / friends on one of your syndicated subsidiaries - 'cause people are just as likely if not more to watch that then some show they havent had hyped at em for the last 5 years or have some average schmo to laugh at / secretly wish were them

formula for network success : 1 "franchise" show, 1 fresh show ta keep em interested (rotate frequently in order to have execs constantly sayin word "fresh" at boards) 10000 dirt cheap realities that they'll watch anyway = $$

2736  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Israel and Palestinians agree to cease-fire on: February 10, 2005, 05:03:06 AM
I just hope this isnt all lip service - weve been here before and had the carpet pulled out from underneath.  The Palestinian people have been imprisoned within "homesteads" for far too long waiting for the state promised them in the UN resolution which also created Israel.  Hopefully Israel makes some real concessions as well, such as withdrawing from illegally occupied territories.  Do you know last month the Jerusalem land authority sold the properties of many of those who had been condemned to refugee camps?  "Pre-games" such as this bode poorly for any lasting peace or a legit accord being reached, but I wait with baited breathe hoping for the best.  Christ, long how long South Africa took and they still have a LONG way to go as far as bettering the condition of those oppressed for so long.  I keep my fingers crossed...

2743  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Finished KoToR2 + questions I hope folks can answer on: January 26, 2005, 03:59:56 AM
really that hilarious - were you a pretty neutral character???  you get prestige class round level 15 and with a significant light or dark side leanin (not sure how much - but remember you are about to become either a "good guy" or a sith) - then ya talk w/ kreia

thats funny though youre prob right and did break the game wouldnt be surprised - or ya could just be too neutral - come on apathy is death smile

also questions of my own - i had NO CLUE you could make peeps jedi!  can ya do this with a dark side character? ive been pretty harsh with all my people as im evil and wanted to play like that.  i dont have mira i have the giant fuzzy animal.  handmaiden wont talk to me and i could care bout bao dur - anyone else?  mandalore?  should i keep talkin with atton? thanks!

2746  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone read books on pda? Need recommendations on: January 24, 2005, 09:59:02 PM
cant help ya - but hey good taste in books! (havent read Last of Mohigans though)

those are both worth ownin and you can get em on the cheap - id recommend that - but im kinda techno-phobic when it comes to readin - i think i spend bout 10 minutes just takin in the smell of a book (whether musty and old or new and crisp) before i read it

okay ill shut up now so you can get back to the point of findin those on lil disk-y type things smile

2748  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Star Craft: Ghost on: January 23, 2005, 12:04:44 AM
Anyone else worried?  I was lookin forward to this game it seemed like it was gonna be fun.  but all the stuff i thought would be pretty cool - well other people sorta beat em too it.  take how it said the stealth kill system was gonna work - you hit a button to initiate it then hafta enter in keys to perform progressively longer combos with the "perfect" result bein you killed the guy.  i remember bein wowed by that as super cool and it still is but mechassault took some of the "newness" outta it.  same with the psi stuff - will it really be better than psi ops in that regard?  itd be pretty hard pressed

and now theyre delayin the game not to polish but to "rethink" some things - anyone else get that feelin?  combine that with a developer that just wants to finish this thing and start workin on other projects - i dunno im worried...

i hope it turns out great because for a time i was really excited - heres hopin it turns out that way - anyone else?  were people excited bout this, still are or dont care?

2752  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What was the Last Game you were Addicted to? on: January 21, 2005, 02:01:08 AM
i play most games to death the first few days after i grab em but then sorta fade away from them (and no i actually dont have a short attention span smile)  the last games that had me always playin em were baldurs gate DA 1 and even more so 2.

Pirates of the Caribbean also had me goin for a LONG time - until i started havin problems with games crashin when i tried to enter a particular port combined with bad saves

most recently - it was kingdom under fire - i made the mistake of pickin up halo 2 before i finished my fix of KUF but down halo after an addictive week and then started playin other games so that sorta went artificially by the wayside

my flat-out-most-addictive-game-ever-to-the-point-where-i-wont-allow-myself-to-own-it however belongs to Counter Strike on live.  if this game were on my shelf i would never sleep get laid or go to class - its that bad
2753  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Advent Rising - new preview on: January 21, 2005, 01:51:48 AM
i thought this was one of those games that kinda just disappeared off the map and was actually waitin for it to run into trouble.  glad they got it back on track and it didnt just fall into the void - hadnt heard anythin about it in a bit...

hype is bad but when ya just kinda disappear it can be worse - keep me interested!
2754  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Hanging pictures on: January 20, 2005, 03:31:00 AM
hi!  i've always had luck doin oils the old fashioned sorta way - tack a couple of nails in the wall, and when you have the canvass streched over frame, run a thin wire BEHIND the wood (ie - you dont want it like a car air freshener hangin from your rear view).  thin is key, you can secure it with utility type staples or those lil staple like things you hammer in.

the rice paper im not sure - any particular reason you want it glassed over???  i always thought rice paper looked much better without it to tell ya the truth but thats just me.
2755  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Should the Vikings trade Randy Moss? on: January 18, 2005, 06:29:45 AM
Agree with AgtFox on this one - this will def be a health call and not a "personal" one.  If he stays up to speed physically (or they cant pick up a few REALLY decent lbs) they keep him.  Hes a player on the field and as far as the moonin stuff, you know what?  I find it kinda humorous.  Call me crass vulgar or whatever but you know, i dont mind when a player gets excited bout the game.  Is there such a thing as taste?  Ya know what - i think its hilarious, i laugh at it and step down off my ivory tower for a moment sparin anyone around me a description of how "disgusting" it was (man i wanted to hit that announcer).  And im sure when im a parent watchin the game with my children some day, ill be more disgusted explainin to a 5 year old why that 70 year old man needs a pill and what does "erectile dysfunction" mean.  The moonin - hell we'd probably just get a few juvenile giggles out of it together.
2756  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / I never thought I say this about Gamepro... on: January 18, 2005, 01:45:12 AM
wow still the halo 2 complaints!!!

the game is fun, its quicker easier and less expensive than pc which (aside from battlefield and such) has pretty much the same FPS offerings.

im gonna start mailin everybody who posts about it a copy of goldeneye 2 or that stupid vietnam game - how much better of a shooter did you want??? (okay, 100%deformable terrain and structures would rock but i dont think well see that kind of power for another couple years).  think how many of us cried and laughed at the shear awesomeness of live and UC when it first came out - next to halo its wolfenstein

and yeah if you listen to 100% of hype and believe it then the entire earth and better part of the solar system should have imploded on nov 9th smile  (at least accordin to PR) - and that would have been after the game manual gave you a free handjob while cookin you dinner.

Im def NOT a halo 2 fanboy but damn if this game "isnt that good" then id hate to live up to any of those expectations
2757  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Why do games look like crap on my new TV? on: January 18, 2005, 01:08:40 AM
Hmm guesses and preference here...

are you sure the tv supports 480 or anythin above that?  Not all HD do (zenith?). - though i did think the majority of the lcds did.

plus and this is just me - but I never thought LCD tvs looked nearly as good as plasma or even the regular old HD - i think the tech still is playin catch up as far as image quality goes

2760  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / MechAssault2 Game impressions (WARNING - Spoilers) on: January 03, 2005, 09:24:31 PM
Hmm if you guys are jumpin on tonight i might see ya there ive been dyin to hook this up on live but havent - just single player so far hows conquest???

Im havin a bit more fun with single player than you guys i think - hehehe i think of the cutscenes as that ghosts cartoon movie.  and i liked the mech stealin level!  you shoulda shot out the doors that keep spawnin tanks - makes it much less frustratin (though im still gettin a kick outta watchin things blow up so thats pretty fun).  havent gotten to your levels yet purge but sounds kinda tough...

Look for Doopri tonight on live ill prob finally take this online.  got myself all stoked to play guess im gonna get in some more single player for now!
