That pretty much sums it up for me.  I really enjoyed it - SUPER looking game.  I just ordered the Strategy Guide and pushed the game to the top of my Gamefly queue.

Daddy NEEDS an action rpg. ;-)

Finally got around to trying this today.  Much to my surprise, I liked the demo much more than I expected I would.  It looks absolutely beautiful, and while I didn't know exactly what I was doing, the combat was really fun.  I didn't run into any issues with the camera, but I have a hard time believing they could do that good of a job throughout the entire game.  Will have to keep an eye on reviews and feedback, but I'm certainly interested.

w00t!  I finished it and I rarely play anything thru until the end.  What a great time!  I'm playing Episode 1 now to be followed by Episode 2.

Without a doubt, The Orange Box is the best deal eva - EVA - in the history of gaming.  Portal was just a blast as well.

If you don't have the right weapons chosen or the right approach, you will be dead.  Should you attack the enemy with a ranged weapon? Would a melee attack be better?

Also, which companion would be best?

Quote from: fyedaddy on June 25, 2007, 02:59:32 PM

Is the combat anything other than button mashing or is there at least a little strategy and/or tactics involved? The reviews I have read haven't given much combat information.

I think (if I remember correctly) that you have to take your ship north of there and you'll find some big dudes on some islands and the key to getting on the floating island is to deal with them and solve the he puzzles where they are.

Jarrod, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

I did try your suggestion, but I'm still missing something. I've read the book (talking about Elandir's life and teachings). I've cleared everything I possibly can. I can see mobs on the mini-map past the Agallan statue (that I can talk to, but says that only Agallans may pass), but I can't get back to them. I can even see a pathway (with more spinning columns) to the southeast of the statue that's blocking me, but it seems to be blocked by a stone wall and I can't bash it open like a secret area. When I return to the original quest giver, he still has a gray question mark over his head and only tells me "Good speed, and may the Fates guide you."

Is there a item in your inventory that you have to use near the statue?

Now  I am stuck.   I'm trying to get to the floating city.   I reactivated the Machine Core and clue stated to follow the beam of lights and it would show me the way to get to the city.  Well, I followed the beam back to the entrance of the machine core and I haven't found  a exit , lift or portal to the city.  How do I get there?

Thanks DiamondDecision. That was a big help. I was able to find the Alpine Heights with your advice. Now, I'm on into the Tomb of the Ancestors. I'm a bit stuck. I have the words I need to say to the Agallans, but I'm at an Agallan Guardian who won't let me pass (says I must be an Agallan), but also won't give me the option to say the message, like I did to get into the tomb.

No worries, I'll continue to explore in there a bit.

Thanks for the help!

I will try to help you,,,,, but it's been a while.

The tomb you can't get into, is it off the left and you're standing in sand?  Is that it?  If I remember correctly, if you're facing the entrance, you should turn around and head the other way and AWAY from you and there is a portal there to take you somewhere else that's in snow?  (hard to remember)  I think you open the tomb while you're doing that????

I sure hope I'm not steering you wrong.

Quote from: Qantaga on June 10, 2007, 03:32:28 PM

I've been playing a lot of this game and I'm still highly enjoying it. I've played with all three character classes up to about level 30 or so. I've settled on the Shadow Stalker, now Blademaster, to try to reach the endgame. She's level 47 now and has been a blast to play.

I do need a bit of help, though. I'm stuck on the quest: [40] Touch of Evil (I've completed all the others that I got along with it in the Castle Refuge). It's asking me to slay a Vagar Defiler and take his Book of Curses. The quest log doesn't mention specifically where he is to be found, but I've been in every open dungeon so far. The only one I can't get to yet is the Tomb of the Ancients because it says it is sealed, with no way in yet. I suspect that the Defiler is in the Tower of the Damned. I can see a secret area just inside the entrance (I even see the little white "secret area" icon) with an orange highlighted mob that may be the Defiler. However, I can't find a way into the secret area. I can get into the back of the secret area, that was previously sealed, near the elevator, but I can't get into the front section. I've tried hitting all areas of the secret area's wall, I've gone around the length of the secret area and tried using the square icon to "open" the wall, I've tried standing as close as I can to the mobs inside the secret area, in hopes that one of them might bust out after me, and Taar has even blasted the wall with her nature spells, but I just can't get in.

If anyone remembers how they got into that secret area, or if you remember if the Defiler is somewhere else, I would be very grateful for any help.

EDIT: Well, I still can't get into the secret area, but I did go back into the Tower a few more times. On this last one, the "orange" (elite) mob was no longer in the secret area. I found him in another area of the Tower altogether. So, I've got the quest covered. smile

I'm still curious if anyone knows how to access that little secret area (completist that I am). smile

Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony was easily my game of the year and I have an Xbox 360. I had sooooooo much fun with that game!

Thanks to EddieA's thread about Brave Story and Jeanne d'Arc coming to the PSP, coupled with the recent price drop, I finally took the PSP plunge. I've had a great time with it so far. I picked up Hot Shots Golf (awesome), Pirates (haven't played much, but it looks great on the PSP), and Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony.

I've spent most of my time with the PSP, by far, playing Dungeon Siege. I will agree with DiamondDecision. This is a very fun game. While I'm nowhere near the end, I find myself enjoying the game immensely and look forward to playing a lot more of it.

Now I'm really confused!  What's the point of the HDMI cable on the 360 Elite?

Quote from: Destructor on March 30, 2007, 01:46:18 PM

Depending on your TV, you can go all the way up to 1080p over component cables. The switch on the 360's cable tells the 360 to check for higher resolutions than 480i (standard broadcast resolution), so if the TV it's being plugged into supports any higher resolutions, make sure you flip that switch to HD.

As an example - my TV only supports up to 1080i (older TV), so with that cable you have my 360 can run in any of the HD resolutions; 480p, 720p, 1080i.

HDMI is really only necessary for TVs that can only accept certain high definition resolutions that way (this is often the case for 1080p). Mine is capable of accepting a 1080p resolution via VGA, so I have no need for HDMI.

Theoretically, since HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is analog, there should be some difference in image quality, but I doubt I would ever be able to discern the difference.

I have a 360.  The one with the hard drive.  My 360 came with a cable that has a switch where you can indicate you are plugging into a regular TV or an HD TV.

Now, for the complication.  I noted someone said in another thread that you can only go 1080p with the HDMI connector of the 360 Elite.

Okay, if that's true, I'm assuming you can only go 720i or 720p with my 360? True?

Help me understand all of this.

I have to admit that I'm a Chris Taylor groupee.  The most fun I have had playing games are the ones he put out.  For me, he nails whatever genre he is focusing on.  Both Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony are a few of the games I actually played until the end.  Who could forget the Kragath Encounter in Total Annihilation?  WOW!

I'm seriously hoping that SC comes to the 360 as it keeps being implied.  I'm definitely down for that!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a week+ since I looked at the game.  Are you saying there is a man IN the cathedral at the top of the rock area?

Quote from: infoghost on January 04, 2007, 12:28:30 PM

That guy at the top won't open up until you have done the initial quests - did you do the quest in the cathedral at the top of the rock area? If so, you need to talk to the guy who sells you potions and revives your characters in Seahaven. I am pretty sure speaking to him will trigger the next set of of quests - you'll know if it does when he says something like "You did it!" and goes on for a second about it. It's not obvious because I don't think he has a big sign over his head like the others. If he just goes right to his buy/sell/revive menu, that's not it. If that's not it, look in your completed quest log and let me know the last couple quests you did.
17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Need help with Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony - Quest: (28) The Corrupted on: January 04, 2007, 11:40:51 AM
I really appreciate the help!  I'm tired of being stuck and just about ready to give up which would be a great shame since the game is sooooo much fun!

In the initial area where you start the game (the bottom of the island), I've been through all the various villages and areas you can travel to. There is a dock off to the left that doesn't go anywhere.  There are also a few places to visit on top of a rock structure and I've been through all of them as well.

Off to the top right is a man that stands between you and the next area.  When I approach the man, he basically tells me to go away.

The only quest I have in my "todo" list is the one I am stuck on.  I truly don't know what to do. I've been everywhere I can and can't go anywhere else. :-(

Quote from: infoghost on January 04, 2007, 01:31:33 AM

You've got a good while before you find him then, it's a bit down the road.

Where are you exactly, questwise? Have you done all the quests in Seahaven, and then gone north to the guy for a bunch more? I don't want to spoil anything for you, so give me a basic idea where you are and the last quest you did. Once you complete all the quests in Seahaven, the man at the top (at least if that's who I think you are talking about) will have quests.

I've gotta agree here on both counts.  I tried sooooooooooooo hard to like Oblivion and just got BORED out of my skull - couldn't figure out what to do and where to go to do it.  Sux.

I would definately like to go through it though some time before Halo 3 is released, so what did you guys feel about the SP campaign of Halo 2 compared to the first one? Any good?

Is Half-Life2 a FPS or a driving game?

I *hate* all this driving game crap!  I'm thinking about stopping playing.  A little driving in a FPS is okay, but this is ridiculous!
