I'm baffled as to why anyone who doesn't like RPGs would buy this game. It'd be like me buying Gears of War and expecting to like it. Kudos to you all for giving it a try though.
...
I hear good things, I'll give it a shot. Maybe something will click...and it this time it did! You can now feel free to put in your pre-order for Gears of War: Judgement

The rule before was 'hey, don't circumvent the cap'. The NHL always had the power to veto any deal they thought was cap circumvention. The Devils just did it so egregiously that they were the ones that got rammed. It's like a 65 mph speedlimit. If you go 75, you're technically breaking the law but most likely won't get a ticket. The Devils were the guys going 110 mph. Correct. All illegal. One punished. 75, 85, 95, 110, 130. I can see the league telling them no dice and tell them to cut the shit and fix it, but millions of dollars in fines, lost draft picks to one team and no penalty to any others says that they picked their spot and the Devils were it. Arbitrary enforcement after the fact. Again, if there were others who tried and were fined, it's there own fault. They pushed a little harder, but the punishment went from zero to eccesive in the span of 1 team. In the end, doesn't really matter. I'd do it again in a second, and would have for Parise too.

It's not the age or the length of the contract, it's that there were no rules until the Devils did it and no punishment before or after. They are all circumventing the cap. Lost Robinson today too. Awesome off season!

The amount of epic butthurt by some Devils fans on the structure of the Parise contract is amusing. OH THE IRONING.
The butthurt comes from the pile sanctions only the Devils seemed to face when circumventing the cap. It's not the Parise contract alone (at all), it's the 8-12 others that are all similar to Kovy, but had a blind eye turned to them. Fuck that, they were singled out, restructured and still punished. It was bullshit then, and is still now.

Guys would rather play with their brothers and others want to go home to play.
Devils can't compete with these things. Sucks, but nothing they could do about it.
Need to fill that spot with something now.

Ehh, still wish he retired.
@TGfireandice: Brodeur on ZP: "but I think the Devils went to the forefront with him and I’m pretty positive that he’ll come back to us, but we’ll see.”
We'll see...

Kinda looking forward to life without Zach and Marty. it'll be fun.
Hoping Gomez... I mean Parise, goes to Pitt. I'll get to see him on national TV every weekend!

Exactly what I was thinking. He only has 2 years left at that money and would immediately become their #1 D-Man (which wouldn't be hard). Worth a shot.
Bouwmeester for Kovalchuk. Get it done! I have a nice, shiny, Volchenkov all ready for you.

Hey Devil, any chance you guys would want Paul Martin back? Trade him to ya for Parise's rights...as everyone and their mother seem to be reporting the Pens are pushing pretty hard to get his rights.
I don't want Martin and and you ain't getting Zach. Pens should worry more about D and try to get Suter. They let up more goals in 6 games than Kings did all playoffs. So far he's going to: Toronto Boston NY Minnesota Detroit Chicago Carolina Pittsburgh and probably 20 other teams. He's staying Nobody even approached Lou for his rights.

I wanted to kill Oates for the PP... Adam Oates should be dragged into the parking lot and used as a speed bump for everyone leaving the arena!!!! icon_mad
If I read it right. The Devils have allowed 10 goals while on the PP and 9 goals on the PK!!

Kinda hope Marty hangs 'em up. But who are they going to get to replace him? There's not exactly a lot of starter-caliber Goalies up for grabs this post season. Maybe Bernier from LA, but I'm betting he ends up on another team. Heck the Devils are so screwed with the cap they couldn't even make a play for Luongo - not that they'd want to or anything. Give someone a chance to play - It has to happen at some point. Remember if Marty goes, his $5.2 goes with him I wouldn't bother spending all of that on a goalie either. Capgeek says the Devils have 28M to play with next year but I don't want Luongo. Parise will get 2M of that 5 that would be freed up, spend the other 3 on a goalie (if that) and you're back in business. Also...you could do a lot better than Zubrus, Poni and Salvador (though I like him) with 8M.

The call was warranted. Not a problem there. I had a issue with the hit on Gionta not getting anything. It was prior to the Bernier and if THAT call was made, maybe the Bernier hit never happens. Now that doesn't excuse the shitty PK/great PP, but it's a HUGE momentum changer in a championship deciding game. From there, the Racicot pick on the 4th goal just crushed any hope. It was unfortunate that the officials played such a prominent role in a game of that magnitude. I want to make it clear that the Kings may well have won anyway, and I give them all the credit in the world, but the way I feel right now is that it sours the whole experience. I feel like a Bruins fan blaming the refs... I'm sure you guys would feel the same way if those calls were the other way around. It was just deflating that we didn't get to see the teams actually fight it out. Doesn't matter now, congrats Kings!

Kinda hope Marty hangs 'em up.
Would have been nice to end his career with a 4th Cup and Conn Smythe, but I'm guessing they got closer this year than they will next.
At least he beat the Rags.
