pretty much the same for me.  I will own it eventually, but maybe not right away.

Well I'm grabbing it tomorrow (or whenever exactly Steam makes the beta available). I'll have to dig up the thread and let you all know.

Actually, for some very BIZARRE reason (that I can't figure out), Cryptic never goes after people who use the copyrighted names from Forgotten Realms. So while you won't see Legolas, you will see umpteen billion Drizzts. Or however you spell his name.

On the other, I had the same feeling as I did in other recent MMORPGs such as SWTOR. How does this game benefit at all from being an MMO? I'm about to do this super cool thing because I'm some sort of special "chosen one" - yet right next to me I clearly see two other people DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. Now granted I can choose to just ignore them, but then if I'm always ignoring other players, I have to go back to wondering what gaming purpose does it serve to have them around?

Yeah, that's my issue as well. And it's a large one in my mind.

I personally love the game as a whole and definitely will grab it when the time comes. But having the same massive (IMHO) problem that SWTOR did (it would be better as a single player game with at most only a few friends to bring into your game) seriously could hurt it.

One thing I've noticed so far is that the PS4 is QUIET. I mean seriously crazily quiet. My ceiling fans make more noise than the thing does. No high pitched whine, no hum, no much of anything. If it wasn't for the light on the console's top you'd swear it wasn't even on.

Whelp, it's finally here. The first of the next-generation consoles.

That was Nintendo's attempt to get their console up to 'current' gen when it launched. The gap between it and the PS4/XB1 is absolutely huge at this point. Sorry. Sad to say it, really - I miss my land of N. The WiiU may be the first Nintendo console I've never owned at this rate.

Random: Sad that Minecraft got pushed back. Then again I have the PC version (with all the mods) so why get any other version?

And while I'm buying a PS4, I still really don't know what games I want for it. What I wanted all got pushed back.

Yet again another reason why EVERY SINGLE DAMN MMO MADE MUST use Cryptic's naming system - you're known as Playername@AccountName on their set of games.

So there can be a million people named Bob standing right next to each other without any issue because it's Bob@AccountName1, Bob@AccountName2, etc etc.

The NeoGeo X, the handheld NeoGeo platform, is no more. SNK Playmore, the owner of the NeoGeo hardware, terminated its license with manufacturer and distributor Tommo Inc. effective Oct. 2, according to this notice on SNK's web site.

That means the end of the NeoGeo X Gold Limited Edition, and six volumes of games (NeoGeo X Mega Pack Vol. 1, and NeoGeo X Classics Vols. 1 through 5) are done. Tommo has been ordered to immediately cease "all manufacturing, distribution, marketing & promotion and selling" of these products.

Additionally, SNK has ordered Tommo to immediately cease sales of the NeoGeo X Arcade Stick and remove all stock from retailers, both physical and online.

Much like the original Neo-Geo this thing could be come a collectors item and worth a ton down the road.

The problem is that it's an emulation machine. That's all it is. It's running some NeoGeo emulator on a device that's not designed for it. Also the screen size is completely wrong (it's 16x9 where the NeoGeo was only 4x3).

I wouldn't call it a collector's item at all. Especially when a modified PSP can play the exact same thing. Oh, and for free.

I think that's the least of their concerns. If they can get to a point where the game is worth playing, they won't have a hard time finding thousands of paying customers.

That's the trick though - getting to that point in the first place.

There's a reason why MMOs are designed with giant teams and huge amounts of funding - because it requires it. Up front. Not 'when the game launches'.

$320,000 to create and run an MMORPG? Yeah, good luck with that. Backing this thing is about as useless as throwing money out the window. They don't even reserve money for running the servers, instead assuming that they can get that by selling a bunch of subscriptions before launch.
This^... Doesn't make sense to me... The only thing I can think of is that they feel they need that much for the actual programming part and that's all they are worried about now... which also doesn't make sense...

Yeah. The entire cost is software ($180k) and paying for fees and taxes and lawyer and everything else (everything else).

Are they working for free for the next 2 years or so?

Who the f*ck picks the English titles for their games? If it's a straight translation, then they need to start putting some interpretation into it, because a lot of their titles come off as word salad to me.

They also need to fire every single 'voice actor' they used in their latest English trailer because holy hell it was terrible.

It's your usual Asian grind MMO poorly translated into Engrish and then published by SoE for reasons I personally can't figure out.

Its only benefits are the taming of 'dragons' (only the trailer shows what most people in the US consider 'dragons' - what you find all over are anything but) and the fact that it has 4 sliders that affect boob size and 2 that affect ass size.

You can make some very...monsterously bad freaks of nature with this thing. Just...trust me on this.

Outfits aren't attached properly to the body at all (they clip into your body right during character creation) and the entire game just screams 'generic boring grindfest'.

Stay away. Unless you want to train your own 'dragon' from right out of the (poor) tutorial and fly around for a while.

Too bad Sony couldn't have come out with a 'Premium' PS4 like they did with the PS3 and offer BC as an option for those willing to pay for it.

Because the 'premium' model would cost the price of a PS4 as well as the price of the components of the PS3 (at the very least). So, what, another $150-200 or so easily? No doubt a LOT more just to get the two systems to work properly together?

The PS3 had PS2 BC because it included all the PS2 chips in it (which cost about $30). It's 'brute force' emulating the PS1 nowadays (and it didn't have to do so if you owned one of the PS2 BC models) because it's powerful enough to do so.

The PS2 requires a heck of a computer to properly brute force emulate on the PC. The PS3? Forget it. PCs aren't fast enough yet.

TLDR: Not going to happen.
