It sure does....I remember a stack of them on top of a trashcan..do you?

Yeah, that I do. I think I still have that photo lying around somewhere.

In all honesty though, this was a good game if you liked the traditional MMO formula. The best part though (IMHO) was the instanced dungeons. It allowed you and your team to get away from the crowds and the kill-stealing, tucking you away from the rest of the world in a dungeon all of your own.

Since then, most MMOs have them. Go figure.

After digging further, I found that the name was Evo: Search for Eden. Man, my memory is good tonight. And what a great game.

Let's try something a bit different. And harder:

Anybody remember this eye-ruining classic?

It's that...oh... *racks brain*

Evo for the SNES?

Jungle Hunt.

And it's not the Atari 2600 version I use to play so long ago, either. smile

Edit - and since I mentioned the Atari 2600, I'll bring you this landfill of a gem for the same console:

Yeah, I know it's a bit too easy, but what the hell. biggrin

I just have to say that I was a longtime poster over on Gone Gold as well, and while I haven't posted there in some time, I will be sad to see it go if it truly has gone.

So my brother didn't really own many games growing up, and he would try to play them when I wasn't around to piss me off.  For the most part I didn't care, because most of his games didn't interest me... except for two of them - Contra (NES) and this one:

Well, I'm out on this one. Looks like pre-NES and post Atari 2600, but beyond that I have no clue.
15290  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [PC-PR] Anarchy Online For Free on: October 08, 2004, 02:41:00 PM

still no clue.  What system was it on?

Based on the low end graphics and the resolution of the screenshot, I'm guessing NES. Maybe the Master System. *shrugs*

I just dug through my listing of NES games and nothing popped to mind. I do think us gamers are stumped on this one.

I forgot that N64 prices were in this range, too.  I just read on IGN's XBox site that Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64 retailed for $70.

I bought that game the day it came out, and I know that there was no way in hell that I paid that kind of cash for that game.

Back in my younger days, I remember all SNES and Genesis carts running $50, the industry standard. Short of Phantasy Star 4 (which I remember was like $70 when it came out), and Virtua Racing (included some extra chips for the console), I remember the standard pricing.

That doesn't sound all that great to me.  I was hoping more like $5 for classic games.  frown  Still no word on when it's coming out.

Considering how easy it is to 'find' some of these old classics, as well as companies selling 10-15 classics for $50 (or cheaper), that price seems outrageously steep.

Don't forget that you have a large number of Collector's Editions of Halo 2 out there.  Although they aren't much more expensive, the profit margin on those should be a bit nicer.

For $5 more you get a ton more stuff. Methinks the profit margin is less on those, personally.

Actraiser?

Yes, I can personally confirm that this game is Actraiser. What a classic. You're up.

And as far as that Darkstalkers pic goes... It could also be Night Warriors on the Sega Saturn (import) or some uber-combo game that had all the Night Warriors/Darkstalkers games on one disk for the Dreamcast (also import). No, I'm not a gaming geek. smile

I also stand by my position that FF6/3 was the best of Square's titles (and, yes, I've played them all since then).
15298  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Name that Game, Graphic Edition on: October 06, 2004, 05:51:04 AM
And the amazing part is that I only remember seeing Mr. Bones on the back of my brother's Saturn box. We never owned it.

Anyway, for my next image, I bring your way this classic RPG from when story and plot meant far more than graphics and sound. This game was from a time when there was no FMV, no CGI movies, and no Dolby Digital Surround Sound. It was also (IMHO) Square's (or Square Enix, or Squenix, or whatever they call themselves now) best RPG they've ever made:

Freaky final boss, no? *looks around for his soundtrack*

Well, you're right, Dimmona, it was Stun Runner on the Lynx.

I heard that it might've come out on some recent combo release, but I'm not sure about that offhand.

As for your non-console shot ( smile ), it's from either Call of Duty or the expansion of the game. Nice explosion though.

Edit - DOH! stiffler beat me by less than a minute. Your post. smile

War Gods? Ye Gods.

And as far as your image - Dragon Force on the Saturn. Excellent game and a pain in the ass to beat.

Back to the classics. For fun, name the game AND the console it was on.

I thought that Pit Fighter was the contender for worst fighting game ever, but I can tell that this game isn't it.

What it is exactly I have no idea though.

Wait...now that I look at it, it looks like a horrible fighting game out of the '64-bit' Jaguar console. What was it called... Way of the Warrior, or something like that?

And that would be Time Crisis on the PS1.

I have to say, I never played Body Harvest.

Conker's Bad Fur Day absolutely rocked though. "I, am, the Great Might Poo, and I'm going to throw my shit at you." biggrin

Anyway, let's head back in time to a handheld that eventually couldn't:

I look at it this way - there's lots of possiblities for the little handheld that could. One thought is that the console is capable of piggybacking any DS that gets into range, to extend the range of the first console.

Just imagine if it could actually do that.

And on the other side of the coin - since the game uses 800.11 (or whatever the low-end wireless standard is called), the Warp Pipe Project guys (the ones who get LAN games on the Gamecube to go online over the internet) are going to work on that console as well.

*light bulb explodes*

It's a Parappa the Rapper lookalike - Gataroo-Man. That's a classic I never played. Seen some people play it really well (or something like it anyway) in the arcades. Impressive.

Here, let's try another classic game (this time hosted on my personal server to make sure it works):

And the answer to your shot would be Soul Blazer on the SNES. What an awesome Action/RPG for the time.

And, here, another great SNES RPG that I personally loved:

Uh, I found out how to open any new link in a new tab in Firefox:

It's called the middle mouse button.

The only thing that won't work on are Java based links and a few rare instances in general. Other than that, the middle mouse button is your friend.

Read my review of DMC2 to understand how much I hated it.  I believe my review kept a lot of people from picking the game or at least I hope it did.  I had the review out on the day most people would get it.  Worst $50 I've ever spent and the beginning of me relying on renting more than buying (which I'm glad I did with Fable...that is several levels of suck as well).

Personally I'm enjoying Fable right now. Then again, I'm only about an hour or so into the game.

As far as DMC2 goes, it's regarded as one of the worst video game sequels ever. Sad, no?
15320  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Its a gaming smorgasbord! What are you playing?? on: September 25, 2004, 06:35:00 PM
Personally, I just finished up some of the extras in Star Ocean 3. To say that the game is huge (IF you want to finish it with 100%), is an understatement. You can expect to put in somewhere between 100 to 150 HOURS if you want to see and experience everything that the game has to offer. It also has a totally messed up and outright unexpected plot twist along the lines of KotOR deep inside.

Next up is Fable. After that, either I'll finish up some little extras in Tales of Symphonia, or play any one of the following (of which I'm all over the place in completion):

X-Men Legends
Doom III (PC)
Sudeki
...and many, many, many more. Trust me on this. And there's a ton of games due out between now and the end of the year that I must play...
