I don't know about the rest but I will be working on getting my fishing up to a nice level before the patch goes into effect.  There's no telling what the min levels may be to advance in it afterwards.

I'm glad to see higher level fishing too - my level 34 cat needs better food than what I can currently fish for. Those 550hp fishies just don't cut it anymore, unless I feed him a ton.

I see Hunters plowing through mobs 3 levels about them.  Pet tanks and never loses aggro...

Yikes.  That's bad.  Maybe cutting damage back a bit and updating the pet's taunt would fix it.

And here's the whole issue about the Hunter - if the pet is unable to hold aggro, the Hunter is utterly useless, as the class is all about ranged attacks.

And later on in life, attacking +3 mobs isn't the wisest of choices. At 32, yes, I can take on 35 mobs, but my pet takes a ton of damage (almost needing a heal to keep standing), and I waste a lot of arrows as I keep missing. I can cut through +1 and below mobs like a hot knife through butter, and I can take on +2 mobs with relative ease (but still missing nearly half my shots). And I can take on multiple +1 and +2 mobs without too much trouble.

Balancing the Hunter is gonna be tough. Remove the pet's ability to hold aggro and you break the class. Period. Mess with damage too much in general, and the class is broken.

Well, I got frustrated with some CS issues and major bugs with EQ2 and have caved into the darkside.  I have a hunter who is now lvl 19.  My best solo moment so far was taking on a lvl 21 elite mob and winning to finish off a quest.  I am very impressed with the hunter so far... I am going heavily into beast mastery talents, so far I have increased my pets HP by 10% and thier focus by 20%.  Next I intend on upping thier damage.  It may not be the most effective build but I am loving it.

The general concensus is that there's two ways to 'properly' 'build' your Hunter - either go Beast Mastery or whatever the spec is that has all the Ranged powers in it. Your pet is very powerful, as is your bow. Improving one or the other makes you that much more stronger in the end.

And Biyobi - LOL. Sorry, I was just trying to find some comparison, and that's the first thing that came to mind. Oddly enough, I was thinking of using a dagger on my Pally just to hold taunt better, but then I realized they couldn't use the weapon.

As far as nerfing goes... There's some saying that the Hunter is balanced as far as power goes. Remember this - you need to feed/level your pet, which takes time and inventory space. Your main method of attack (the bow) requires ammo, which starts to get expensive at the higher levels (42 silver to fill my 14 slot quiver with level 30 arrows). So, in a sense, they are balanced with the amount of power they have.

We'll see what Blizzard does. All I know is this - the Hunter is the most popular class, based on everything I've seen so far. That alone means something.

Considering the price of those 'classic' consoles that Atari, Namco, etc, have all released in recent months, the price for these games are absolutely insane.

Don't even get me started on other PC 'alternatives', either.

And yet, the most graphically advanced console with the best online play was soundly defeated by the PS2 this generation.  I think Iwata's right.  Also, it's not as if Nintendo is not pushing graphically forward, albeit slowly.  The GBA had SNES-era graphics, the DS is N64-era.  The PSP reflects the current generation, but it also has a 90 - 360 minute battery life.  The design decisions for the new handhelds have both positive and negative points, but after seeing how well the DS is selling, I'm not worried for Nintendo.

Also, remember this - the GB (yes, the old black and green brick) beat out FAR more powerful handhelds (the Game Gear, the Atari Lynx, the portable TG-16, etc).

Why? It's the games and the console itself.

The GB ran forever on four AAs. The GG and the Lynx sucked on them like water.

The GB had Tetris, Mario, etc. The others, well, while the GG had some good stuff, the Lynx was limited in the software area.

My attitiude towards games are the following - fantastic graphics are a bonus, not mandatory. It's the gameplay that counts in the end. Period.

I've been giving Hunter a good long look.  In all liklihood I'll spend my talents emphasizing melee combat though, which would be poor.  On the other hand having a pet is really fun.
.

A hunter with a melee emphasis would be different from the 90% of us Hunters who are just pouring all their talent points into Marksmanship.   Tongue

No offense, but making a Hunter who goes Melee is like making a Warrior who uses a dagger as his main weapon. Yes, it can be done, but your class isn't designed to work that way.

The Hunter is designed to have just enough Melee power to get into combat and survive it. He can off-tank something while shooting arrows at the primary target for a while, but he's not meant to get down and dirty in melee combat.

Case in point - at level 31, I have two 18 DPS melee axes (bonuses to Agi on both for my ranged skills). In comparison, I have a 16 DPS bow (Harpy Bow or something). Even with my pet tanking all the time (so the mob can't dodge/parry my blows), I can kill a mob far faster with my bow than I can melee.

Why? All my damaging powers are ranged based.

I'm not telling you how to play your game though, so if you want to be a melee Hunter, go right ahead. I'm just saying that they make a far better ranged class. That's why they have a pet that can tank.

Hunter by far, from my experience. Why?

You know how most people say to grind on -1 and -2 mobs for lots of experience with no downtime? I can grind on same, +1, and +2 mobs with no downtime. My cat and I absolutely slaughter the opposition.

Getting a group slows me down. Just find an empty spot (easier on the quieter servers and if you visit the out of the way places), and go nuts. Bonus points if you find quests associated with what you're killing, too.

The only thing that stops me are my loot bags either filling up, or I run out of arrows (after about two hours of non-stop killing at level 31).

My 'best' series of kills was taking on four mobs, one after another (so I was either in a solo or duo fight constantly), without stopping (adds throughout the whole fight), and without either my pet or I getting killed. It took everything I had to do it, but I did it.

Show me another class that can take on 4 mobs without even a second's break between battles (the same level as you, too), and get away with a victory.

So... raptors, where and how?  If I was a troll hunter, it'd be easy, but as a NE, I don't want to wait so long ;-).  Then again, my snow leopard does look really nice.

You'll have to pay a visit to The Barrens to grab a younger Raptor. It's linked off the Night Elf Territory, but you'll have to travel through a relatively safe (following the roads and with a map) 20-30 zone to get to it.

Personally, I'll be sticking with a cat in some shape or form. 1.3 attack speed (yes, 1.3 seconds per attack instead of the more common 2.0), can learn all four currently available skills, has about as much HP as I do at 30 (950ish HP), and eats just about anything.

Why do you want a 1.3 second pet? Casters. While your pet still has the same DPS overall, attacking that quickly utterly kills casters. I've taken down a level 28 Werewolf something (a caster) taking absolutely no damage at 29, as it dared to cast a spell. Between my 1.3 second cat and my 1.5 second (after quiver bonus) bow, he couldn't get a single spell off before he dropped dead. biggrin

Arrghh, I want to find my perfect class and put lots of time into it, but am having so much trouble.  Her'es what UI want, and maybe you can tell me what would be best.

* A class where I have a good chance of winning a 1 on 1 PvP encounter if I'm smart about it.

* A class that as I level up I get to have cooler looking outfits so I don't look like everyone else.

* A class where I can easily solo most of the time.

* A class that is actually fun to play, has variety, and attacking is not comprised of the same 5 clicks in a row.

*  A class that continues to be rewarding for the time I invest in it.

Well, as I post elsewhere, I love my Night Elf Hunter. The class is extremely solo friendly (you always have a Warrior/Rogue teammate, depending on what you have by your side), and like most classes, has a good chance of winning a PvP battle if you keep watch of your surroundings.

Attacking isn't just the same button presses, at least all the time. You have to carefully manage aggro, as if your pet gets in over its head, you want to do what you can to save it (as it's cheaper on your resources to both get hurt than to rez your pet).

As I said above, you're an extremely solo friendly class (hit 26 just yesterday doing nothing but that), but because of your strengths, you're wanted in groups if you choose to join one. It's entirely up to you.

I just hit my local Best Buy to pick up my Sirius set. Yes, they only offer a single base device, but it's also the best one out there (IMHO) of the bunch. It's also the most expensive, but...

If you want to listen to the channels available, go visit http://www.sirius.com and sign up for a 3 days pass thingy. It's also the same site used to subscribers to listen to the music via the internet. Yes, you can't get all the channels online (you get everything but the sports/weather/news/traffic stations), but when you're stuck at work with nothing better to listen to, I can't complain.

Either way, get either Sirius or XM. It's SO much better than radio (as Hair Nation I think puts it - No commercials; not ever), it's not even funny.

So, I'm wondering if any of you out there have gotten yourself into and PvP action on World of Warcraft. While I personally play on a PvE server (Tenris, I think it is, in MST), I ended up with a very quick PvP battle almost accidently.

I was over in the Stonetalon Mountains with my then level 24 Night Elf Hunter. I had just picked up the 'A Gnome's Respite' quest, in which I was going to help stop the deforestation of the surrounding areas.

Little did I realize that I was in technically a contested zone (where both sides travel).

I was looking over the ruined forests, getting myself ready for my next move, when I suddenly notice that the Night Elf guard for the quest giver was being attacked by a Tauren Druid. The Druid (24 as well if I remember right), obviously didn't see me, or else he wouldn't of attacked.

I waited a moment to see if the guard needed help (which she did), and then wasted no time in letting rip with my cat and my arrows. To say that it was a short fight (between myself, my cat, and the guard all whailing on him), was an understatement.

And then I found myself in a panic as I realized that I was in PvP mode for the next five minutes.

During that time I had a Troll Priest run up and give me a second glance, but realized that he wouldn't of had much of a chance in battle. I was more worried in finding the Druid again, but I got away lucky in the end as my PvP wore off.

So, anybody else here done any PvP combat yet? I almost feel like wandering abroad and seeing what else I can get myself into. It was fun.

If your starting city is either Stormwind or Ironforge, to get to the other you have two options available for you right from the getgo:

1) Take the Tram. You can find it either off the Dwarven part of Stormwind (look for a tunnel covered with sparkles and rotating in place) or from the Gnome section of Ironforge (look for the same thing).

2) Take the Gryffin. You'll find it off the Trade District in Stormwind and in the very center of Ironforge. It costs 50c and is a bit longer to take, but you can step away from the keyboard if you need to do something else for a few minutes.

One feature I would *love* is if you could "lock" the toolbars. I've died too many times because I dragged my spell out of the tool bar rather than actually casting it.

Ive done this with spells and attacks...I have to open up my stuff and recreat the hotkey button during a fight..not fun...usually its due to lag.

Cosmos has that feature (at least mine does). In the very lower left corner of the screen (just to the left of the very first power) is a small little box you can check. This locks all spells/abilities in the many taskbars so they can't be moved anymore.

And as far as Cosmos being bloated - well, I only have 1/3 of Cosmos actually enabled. Yes, most of it is just a bloated mess, but you can easily turn it off with the dozens of configuration options.

What makes no sense is that I have this issue with one of my characters, yet I don't on the other. Same account, same server, same settings (as far as I can figure).

I'm guessing one of Cosmos' options is causing it, but I can't tell. I have that UI and two from another - LootLink and MobHealth. LootLink keeps a running database of all the items you see on other people/yourself (collected by just clicking on a person), and MobHealth attempts to estimate, well, mob's health in numerical format. The hunter is awesome.  With my pet it's like two, two, two characters in one.

In my relatively quiet server (Tenris or something on Mountain), I personally wear just about everything I craft as a Leatherworker (skill of 105 right now and I'm a level 18 Hunter). I've found a few +AGI pieces of clothing as well that I've crafted, which really helps the damage.
