It's already announced as PC/PS4/XB1 only.

Yup. Correct.

PS4, XB1, and PC -only-. No WiiU version.

3rd party development is dead on the WiiU.

Nvidia GTX 770 2GB. It's slightly smaller than my 570, has much more fanage on it, runs quieter, and it's quite a bit more powerful. A win-win all around. biggrin

Thanks for the help, all.

I'm going to correctly probably buy this 4GB EVGA GTX 760 and a Samsung SSD of some sort.  Commander Keen is going to look awesome on my rig now.

I recommend against a 4GB card. Unless you're triple monitoring things your card will become outdated before you'll need the 4GB of memory. Get a 770 instead.

FYI I just read this review for the MSI GTX 760 Gaming ITX OC card (what a mouth full). And its actually pretty impressive for a $260 card: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/65554-msi-gtx-760-gaming-itx-oc-review.html

That's a pretty solid card based on the review. And right in my price range (of basically $300 or so - I'm really not interested in dropping $500 for a card unless it's powered by magic or something biggrin ) as well.

Maybe I'll end up with a GTX 760 of some sort. Seems to be right in that sweet spot.
127  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Need a new video card and looking for help on: February 28, 2014, 07:01:16 PM
What about the recently released (and cheap) GTX 750? Or is that just too low end for future proofing (but then there might be another nice cheap card coming out at that point)?

And as mentioned above, VRAM seems to be the most important bit - my card is still plenty good for gaming. It just can't hold all the textures that are used nowadays.

The GTX 760 sounds like a good balance between cost and power though. Any specific one in particular?
128  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Need a new video card and looking for help on: February 28, 2014, 05:36:42 AM
Well, apparently my Nvidia 570 has hit its end of life with Thief. The 'paltry' 1.25GB of VRAM just is absolutely not enough in this day and age, despite everything else working quite well otherwise (been able to run basically max settings on all games I've played, but Thief I'm at Normal Textures because of the VRAM usage).

So in short, I'm looking for something that has 2GB of VRAM (at least) that'll be a decent upgrade without breaking the bank (and Nvidia preferred).

I game at 1920x1080 and never run AA of any kind (I just don't see the benefit at that resolution) so that'll keep the VRAM usage down for the future.

Any ideas?

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-4.html
almost seems to be a pretty solid start, but I don't know if there's anything else out there. I'm kinda behind things nowadays.

I knocked them out just so I could get them to shut up. Tongue

And overall I'm really loving the game. Yes, it has its issues. It's far from flawless. But it's a very solid game from my time in it. And they're really trying to go after everybody with the -many- different difficulty levels and game options you can toggle on and off and everything else.
130  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3] Thief on: February 26, 2014, 09:04:53 PM
The thing to keep in mind on the PC version is how much video RAM you have. If you have under 1.5GB then you're stuck on normal texture and shadow levels. Past that and you can throw the options up to max more likely.

Unfortunately I'm one of the older 1.25GB cards. Seems that it has hit its end of life.

Not that it looks bad, don't get me wrong. But don't expect things past that point.
131  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3] Thief on: February 24, 2014, 03:21:52 PM

Also, the Rock Paper Shotgun 'review' is quite positive. I have few complaints just looking over what they said.

Why are games still 30 fps? Also, it seems that Xbox One is less powerful, no matter what the magic power of the cloud does? Oh well., its not like its even possible to get one for me yet, and no word on if ever.

Because the 'magic of the cloud' is a complete pile of bullcrap like I said it was going to be (maybe not here, but I've definitely said it). It is on orders of magnitude slower to do something over the internet than it is to update your screen 30 or 60 times a second.

At best...at BEST you'll see a roundtrip ping of 100ms...which means 10 times a second. And Microsoft seemed to imply that this 'magic cloud' could do things like display graphics? No server farm that they could set up could even begin to handle the requirements that 1/10th of the players could throw their way.

The 'magic cloud' is used for say, Forza. Holding your 'driving stats' and sending it to other players. Or for hosting multiplayer matches. That's it.

Also...I really, really like that walkthrough video posted earlier. I'm so totally on the fence on getting this. And I really should as there's plenty of sales out there.

So, question - do weakness bonuses stack?

In other words, if I attack a flying enemy with an Angel Bow (bonus damage to flying creatures) and also enchant the bow to the creature's elemental weakness, do I get a double weakness bonus?

Or does it just considered a 'weakness' and it doesn't matter how many of them you stack, you just get the one?

Digital is nice as you don't have to swap carts. Past that there's no advantage or difference either way (other than the digital copy is like 3.2GB in size or something).

Also you only get a few small items to start off your 'real' game if you do everything in the demo. IMHO, it's not worth it. Although you do get to see some jobs and classes and such ahead of time if you do.

Why the heck isn't NES Remix on the 3DS?

Why the heck can't we buy GBA games on the 3DS (through the eShop)?

Heck - why can't we buy DS games on the 3DS (through the eShop)?

Is Nintendo going to announce anything that would get me to find some reason to get a WiiU? And to increase sales overall (the PS4 is going to overtake the WiiU worldwide sales in a month or two tops at this rate)?

I can sorta get the GBA-3DS stuff not existing (as the GBA would have to be emulated). But the DS? That's fully right in the device.

Maybe that's what I'll do with my next move upload - a heal as there's so many high damage summons in the group. Anyone know offhand if there's a way to rez people through a special attack?

Also, is it wrong that I'm using Bravely Second just to rez people during boss fights (if they even fall)? And/or constantly having my healer use the rez staff and Cura shield constantly during battle (both bought through the rebuilding of the town)? Seems almost broken.

I'm sold on buying the full game, but I think I'll still finish the demo before doing so.  Can I start adding all y'all with friend codes while I'm on the demo version, or can I only do that from the full game?
I'm pretty sure that all transfers - I think 20 friends transfer from the demo.

IMHO, finishing the demo is absolutely not needed. All it gives you are a few starter items to (slightly) help you on your way.

Although yes, any friends you got for your town transfer on over. That said, you can't transfer townspeople from the retail game back down to the demo. But add away the friend codes. I could always use more slav...er, townspeople for my place. biggrin

The 'losses' that Squenix 'had' were because of entirely utterly totally made up sales expectations.

If you're not maxed, then you do get additional Norende villagers when you add friends.
Is there something special you have to do to get regular friends added to the village?  I have a bunch of friends in the game, and I can do everything else with them - Abilink, summon, etc. but the only ones who show up as villagers are the random "internet friends" you can get each day.
I haven't quite cracked the code with the whole friends thing yet.  Seems like sometimes people show up, and sometimes they don't.  I can't really figure it out.

I dunno. I think there's some kind of cap either on friends or internet people or whatever. I just have no idea how it all works.

Also, I've added in everyone who posted their codes here. Looks like I'm friends back with all of you at this point.

Did not like FF13 at all, never touched 13-2, and have no intention on getting 13-3.

It seems that Squenix has completely forgotten what made Final Fantasy games good.

Either that or the entire team went into making Bravely Default (which is just fantastic).

And it sounds like that your town info goes into Squenix's central server once you upload it - so there's no need to be online at the time.
When I go to add you, it acts like you didn't already add me.

Because I think we've been just using this thread to pass around codes and not the central one. Tongue

Done. Also there seems to be a cap on how many friends you can gain in a single day (for your town and such), which I think is at 4. I dunno for sure though.

No.

What it is is that you can purchase a month's subscription in token form, and then you can sell or trade this token to other players for goods or in game money. Since you can easily see the price of a month's sub on the game's auction house (which no doubt fluctuates all the time), this allows you to get a 'very rough estimate' of the 'real price' of ships and such destroyed.

A very, very rough estimate.

Thus, the 'estimated value' of ships destroyed in any massive battle.
