does that work both ways? can you buy it now on pc and have it on xb1 when it hits there?
It would only work if you could buy it on the Windows 10 store, not on Steam, and it isn't on there yet either (probably not until it's approved for Xbox One).
And you don't want to buy anything on the Win10 store due to crazy DRM shenanigans and other things.
Unless you want two copies of the game on two different platforms for the price of one and think that the DRM is not much different than Steam's DRM shenanigans...
Because it is completely different. The EXE is encrypted for starters, and thus modders can't fix developers' lazy ass programming if it's needed (proper resolution, modified FoV, graphic options, etc etc). While it's not a problem here it seems because the devs seem to know what they're doing, there has been plenty of examples in the past - the latest Tomb Raider and Quantum Break for starters.

Though I would've thought by 2016 wireless charging without needing a special case would be doable, but it seems not. Or like a magnetic headphone/earphone connector that didn't require an open jack port. But I guess not. The 21st century is just one disappointment after another.
I had a Palm Pre that had wireless charging. Apparently the Pre Plus model came with it (so you didn't have to replace the case - not that it added any bulk that I remember). An outstanding feature...for 2009.
Well, my iPhone 5 is now 3.5 years old or so. What's another year if the 2017 version should be so 'absolutely amazing'? Then again, that's not like Apple to make major changes to a phone on the 'off years' when they release the S versions.
Who knows if my battery will last that long though.
Quote from: Mystic95Z on September 09, 2016, 11:51:56 AM
The 7 is coming with the lightning to 3.5mm adapter in the box and one of the 3rd party acc providers announced a combo adapter so you can use headphones and charge at same time.
So in order to get the exact same functionality I currently have with my iPhone 5 (using headphones and charging my phone at the same time), I have to have TWO different dongles plugged into my phone, one of which costs $40?!
Do you not see the absolute insanity behind Apple's lack of intelligence here?
As someone who currently owns and uses an iPhone 5 (non-lettered) right now, I find the lack of a headphone jack to be...fucking stupid.
For those of you who both use the headphone jack and plug in your device at the same time (something I do at work the entire shift I'm there, to put my device's music onto a stereo system for all of us to hear, plus keep it charged because the phone wouldn't survive 8 hours otherwise), what the hell are you supposed to do now?
Can they even make a device to split both power and headphones off of the same connector? It sounds like an electrical risk of some sort to my very limited expertise.
Here I wanted an iPhone 7. Now...I guess I'll wait to see if they make the all important adapter first, because Apple decided to remove the headphone jack because it was the next evolution in phone technology or something.
Exactly. Starting Tuesday, because fuck you bullshit, I have to avoid most every gaming news site on the planet. The entire point of the game is 'discovery', and, well, that is going to be so easily spoiled.
I remember back when I was a kid games just released on a Tuesday and that was how things worked. Period.

But I can't decide if I would want this one on PS4 or on PC where there might be mods and other things.
Considering the goal is apparently to get to the center of the galaxy and the journey there and everything else, I highly doubt there will be mods and such for the game. That said, the PC version should look the best, at least.
Quote from: EngineNo9 on July 24, 2016, 09:48:25 PM
The original games were published by Activision, weren't they? That's the same company that still tries to sell a 7-year old game like Prototype 2 for $40 on Steam or the "franchise pack" of 1 & 2 for $60.
They just don't seem to understand the concept of higher volume sold at lower price, or they don't give a shit because CoD and Blizzard games sell so much at those inflated prices.
Either or, or some of both in the end.
Also, based on Steam reviews, both games are absolutely terrible buggy as all get out ports and should be utterly avoided due to said problems. It was obvious that no testing (or care) was put into either game. Heck - they don't even come with the DLC of the extra characters and such.
That said, the bugs and DLC are both to be fixed soonish, but until then, both titles are to be avoided. Even then I still wouldn't buy them at $60.
...damn this generation has been nothing but previous generation ports.

It's too much of a low brow, broad comedy style to work for me.
This right here. In their attempt to go for the 'average movie goer', they've made a movie that just doesn't look funny at all. It doesn't help that they're yelling racial jokes in your face in 2016, either.
All I know is that I don't care who they're gonna call. I sure won't go to find out.
I'm surprised anyone is upset about this. If I was a console-only gamer I would be thrilled at the option to upgrade my system. As it stands, I already spend something north of $500/year upgrading my PC. I also upgrade my phone every 1-2 years. Get a new car lease every 3 years. Seems to match the cadence of every other toy in my life
My PC has been sitting here for the same specs for quite a few years now. I'm running an ancient quad-core i5 (because it's still great today) and a GTX 770. Yes, I'm waiting for this year's NVidia offering (because I've heard this is going to be a huge leap forward for graphic cards) this year to upgrade again, but short of getting a SSD, I haven't done anything to my PC rig in ages.
...the massive amount of exploits in this game are absolutely insane. Utterly NO Q&A was even remotely done on this title, and exploit after exploit after completely stupid programming comes out time after time again.
This is basically that one Assassin's Creed title it's so bad, except it doesn't affect the game's graphics.
Crazy number of ways to 'get outside of the world geometry' exist (mostly involving the portable cover you spawn on the ground), ways to stack your character stats into infinity (lack of basic math sanity checking with equipment), ways to exploit the joke of an Incursion (seriously, it's just a Horde map?) into giving you loot without the mission even fighting back (or claiming the 'best reward' as often as you ran it, instead of weekly), ways to get infinite money and crafting materials (one way by exploiting the lack of server checking on the stuff that Ubi gives you for free!)...you name it, odds are you can exploit it.
And before you say any of the above was fixed, as of this moment, I can tell and show you how to do every single one of those exploits in the current version of the game (on any system).

The idea behind this hardware upgrade is for VR and to play 1080p games with a few more bells and whistles smoothly, correct? I can't see those new specs pushing 4K resolutions, even when taking into account console overhead is much lower than a PC.
To my recollection, this was the 1st recent recent generation (Playstation 1 and beyond) where the newly released consoles were not more powerful than a high end PC.
That's an understatement. The consoles really, well, suck compared to even a mid-range PC, much less somebody who throws money at it.
And thinking about it further, as you said, there's just no way those 'low end' specs can possibly run anything decent at 4K. Hell - spending $500 on a video card itself is hardly enough for 4K on the PC.
Quote from: Harpua3 on April 19, 2016, 10:22:37 PM
Kinda pissed but in theory it shouldn't affect anyone who opts to not upgrade, like me probably.
Exactly. It sounds like that this will not affect any current console owner, as the developers are not allowed to produce anything that won't run (well, I hope) on both systems.
The New 3DS is the same way...although they've already broken the above rule (Hyrule Legends I've heard runs like absolute crap on the 'old' 3DS, and it runs SO poorly in fact it should not have even been available to purchase).
We'll see. We'll also see if Sony releases any information officially, or if they'll try to keep it under wraps until whenever they decide to release it.
Word on the street was that Steam was adjusting and removing 'core files' from every install.
Basically, every time a game gets downloaded, it also downloads all the DirectX binaries and everything you might need when you fire up the game for the first time. The problem is that Steam downloads this for EVERY game (generally in a folder called CommonRedist).
So, after reading some sites, it seems that Steam started deleting these folders out of every single game you currently had installed, as apparently Steam has some way of doing all the DirectX stuff on a central level. The problem...is that Steam forgot to tell everyone it was doing this.
Actually...it was worse in the end it seems. Steam went and deleted all of these things (generally removing 96MB per game), and the next day (or hour), Steam redownloaded all of them over again. Woe be those people who had bandwith caps.
1) The article linked above says that the picture doesn't show any obvious signs of being Photoshopped (short of the obvious date stamp and black box). 2) Notice the B button as part of the screen just below the right thumbstick. 3) Notice the L and R buttons sticking out from the top of the controller in line with the analog sticks. 4) Notice how closely this matches the patent filed by Nintendo a few months ago (also in the article). 5) I have never seen an LCD screen before in that very weird shape.
Whatever exactly this...thing is, it's not outright a fake. But nobody knows what it really is, either. Could it be Nintendo's console that is a 'controller plus a portable gaming device combo in one'? Maybe. Something somebody built from scratch to fool everyone? Maybe.
Only Nintendo knows at this point. And they sure as hell aren't telling. Here's to hoping we learn something at E3.

Well it sure couldn't be much looser than the first trailer was.
They also got rid of some of the awful as all get out jokes...and yet added in a few others that were just as terrible.
This film is going to end up like Pixels. Such an utter bomb Sony has on their hands. It's not made for Ghostbusters fans (despite the attempted nods - it movie itself looks like it's trying way too hard and it's just not funny at all based on the trailers), and it's not made for non-Ghostbusters fans (as it looks like Generic Action With Some Comedy Flick #1782).
Quote from: farley2k on March 04, 2016, 08:14:15 PM
The fan trailer makes me want to see the movie but the official trailer makes me know it won't be great.
Exactly. The fan trailer removes most of the talking...and thus it makes the entire trailer better.
Ghostbusters was a movie that took the entire ghostbusting thing seriously, played it straight, and had some very funny moments in it, because again, they played it straight (and quite possibly going off of script at times).
Ghostbusters (2016) looks to be a comedy that takes nothing seriously, and thus looks like total ass, and has nothing to do with the original.

Great movie but WTH parents why are there kids like 7 years old at the movie? Congrats to the Mom and her 4 kids all young that now know what exactly a strip club is like inside and what goes on in there.
As a joke, it took me like 5 seconds to Google up 'Why is Deadpool rated R?' and find out exactly why so thanks to IMDB.

Agree with Crawley, especially about movement. I bought up every port stone I could find but there aren't that many it seems.
Check your bank. Everyone who owns the expansion (so...every PC user) gets access to an Eternal Ferrystone. That gives you an unlimited use 'port. Combine that with the occasional Portcrystals that you can outright carry and place on the ground anywhere in the overworld (I've found three so far), and you can rather easily get to and fro and back again. Or place them in useful places (like a Healing Spring).

The one complaint I have is that the Keyboard/Mouse interface felt rather clunky, mostly because so many things required an Enter press to continue. So instead of being able to click through things (as would be intuitive), you have to reach over to hit Enter. I suppose it is probably customizable but there were enough things that felt odd that I went to controller. Personally I'd have preferred a well fleshed out keyboard/mouse combo for playing on the PC but it's not a big deal.
You can use the Use key (default of E I think) instead of Enter in any place it's needed. Also, I recommend moving Inventory over to Tab so you can get at it a bit easier.
Random tip - if you're playing a spellcaster, while most spells are charging you can hit Shift to go into 'target mode' so you shoot at the target you manually aim at instead of snapping to the nearest mob in range. I think there's a button on controllers, too, but I don't know offhand as I'm M+K only so far.

Anybody know (or remember) what happens to all the stuff you put in a hired pawn's inventory when you send them away? I forgot I had made my extra hires into mules last night when I dismissed them, and I think I lost all that stuff.
It all goes into your bank. Or so it's supposed to, anyway. Go check.
1) Starkiller Base just left a SUN somewhere in the galaxy. Having a sun appear somewhere randomly does Very Bad Things to a system anywhere near where it appears. Just where was the thing destroyed?
2) Why did that one Stormtrooper early on in the movie have an anti-lightsaber weapon on it? I mean, WHY? That's obviously a VERY specialized weapon, and there's like nobody in the entire universe who has one anymore. Suddenly our heroes have Luke's old old Lightsaber (remember, he lost it at the end of SW5 and it's found again? HOW!?) and there's somebody who can properly fight him!
2.5) Then again, if that Stormtrooper had any brains at all, he would've fired his normal blaster a few times, found that our hero couldn't deflect blaster fire (because he's not trained in it), and just kept on firing until said hero stopped moving.
3) There is an ABSOLUTE TON of things that were not explained in this film. Yes, I realize that like 30 years or so have passed, but I'd really love to know what has happened in that time. So much is left unexplained it feels like we're missing an entire prequel movie before this one.
4) This movie really, really copies SW4. I mean just so copies it. And yet...unlike New Star Trek 2 We're Doing Khan Again Because Reasons, it didn't offend me at all. Why is that?
My questions aside, I really enjoyed the film and I SO want to see the sequel start back up Five Minutes Later, and not the usual months or years so between films like usual.

The paywall model is going to flop. This series will either die or move to broadcast after one season. People who grew up with ST -- presumably a good portion of the loyal fanbase -- are my age, and we aren't all down with this newfangled "streaming" thing.
Even if I have a streaming TV by 2017 I'm too cheap to subscribe to something for one show. I'll wait for the dvd release or syndication run, thanks.
Or just pirate it when it comes out.
I completely agree with everything you said though. I'm damn 'old-style' in my age it seems. I have no Twitter, I have no Facebook, I have no Hulu, I have no Netflix, I have no nothing. My TV doesn't even get turned on unless it's to play my gaming consoles.
I bitched about this with my Surface Pro 3 (I own one and I love it), and I'm gonna bitch about this with the Surface 4:
OMGWTFBBQ does Microsoft rip the everfuckinglove you off with their 'upgrades' for their Surface lineup.
It costs $300 dollars, THREE HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS, to go from 4GB to 8GB of RAM and to go from a 128GB SSD to a 256GB SSD.
Did you know that 256GB SSD drives BY THEMSELVES cost on average 50 cents per GB, or about $128? And RAM costs next to nothing (seriously, 4GB is like $20-30 or so, if even). So for the AT MOST $100 upgrade (~$64 for the SSD upgrade, ~$40 for the RAM) Microsoft charges you $300 for.
And I thought Apple was bad.
Absolutely do not buy the i7 version. There is absolutely no use for it whatsoever unless you're going to be using say AutoCAD on it or rendering videos constantly. It is a complete and total waste of money, ESPECIALLY for the stupid-insane prices that Microsoft STILL charges.
