My wife once left the country and said "If I came back and we had a new television, I wouldn't be disappointed."

My wife said the same thing to me the other day,
if by "television" you meant "boyfriend" and "disapointed", you meant "Get the hell out of my house!" unibrow

I have a question about using the TABS that are found on some sites.........

As the first note, let's say there's 2 different chords being shown....a 3 on the 5th string, and a 4 on the first string.

Would this mean that I need to strum both of those at the same time?
And is it JUST those 2 strings, and not any others?

Link please?
326  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What classic tv show car would you choose.... on: January 10, 2005, 04:51:09 AM

During dynamometer tests the car developed 146-horsepower at the rear wheels and reached a wheel speed of 108 miles per hour against the four horsepower drag of the machine. At this point the test terminated abruptly when the rubber tread spun off the tires of one of the rear wheels that was being tested.

With the exception of the General Lee <snort> everything else is too fat dumb and happy (safety and emission control systems choke horsepower and add weight ).
Give '72 or earlier, please!  biggrin

Evidently he's not truly offline if it's not working for him.

Try physically disconnecting your network cable (be it broadband or phone line) from your computer's modem.  That should make offline mode work fine.

LE, no offense, it will NOT work off line. I've spent far more time dicking around with that game to get it to play offline. It will not. Not matter how much crap I download from steam. Disconnecting the cable does not matter. I can walk away for half an hour and steam sits there bitching about how it can't connect. BTW, I had to install a modem in my son's computer because it was never supposed to be internet capable. We have my pos for that. Only one computer to monitor for viruses and spyware, y'know?

So far he's gotten more gaming time in on "Curse of Monkey Island" and Planescape Torment.

HL2, pretty as it is, could be Duke Nukem 3d as far as gameplay is concerned. Certainly not worth the money he paid, IMHO.

So I'm in the process of ripping CD's into iTunes and I run across (my wife's) Shania Twain's Up! CD.  It's not worth the wear and tear on the CD drive to rip but I happen to look at the song titles.  Good Lord check out this list:

1. Up!
2. I'm Gonna Getcha Good!
3. She's Not Just A Pretty Face
4. Juanita
5. Forever And For Always
6. Ain't No Particular Way
7. It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing
8. Nah!
9. (Wanna Get To Know You) That Good!
10. C'est La Vie
11. I'm Jealous
12. Ka-Ching!
13. Thank You Baby! (For Makin' Someday Come So Soon)
14. Waiter! Bring Me Water!
15. What A Way To Wanna Be!
16. I Ain't Goin' Down
17. I'm Not In The Mood (To Say No!)
18. In My Car (I'll Be The Driver)
19. When You Kiss Me

If I count correctly there are a total of 10 (ten!) exclamation marks over the course of 19 (nineteen!) songs!  That's exciting!  Don't you feel excited!!!!!

Besides my wife (who assures me she listened to it once and shelved it), does anyone with a modicum of intelligence listen to this drivel?

I was really excited until I got to number 16.    unibrow

On one hand, the system only has 256 MB of RAM, so XP will probably run like a dog on it.

Doesn't matter how much ram it has because he'll download three different versions of Elfbowling. biggrin
I would spring for XP because of the automatic updates. I have the Computer Associates EZAV anti-virus and that runs pretty transparently inn the background. The knock against the XP firewall is that it stops stuff from getting in but doesn't prevent programs from getting out.
My wife's cousin has an 800mhz Dell with XP and 128 megs of ram. I think it runs like crap, but she doesn't know any different.
I think that whichever os you choose, you're going to have an ongoing techsupport role.
If you use XP, turn off desktop cleanup and personalized menus. It'll save you a lot of (user-related) agravation in the long run....

344  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Wife's computer refuses to read CD's on: December 05, 2004, 02:38:17 AM
Some times XP does that. I just looked at a girl's computer which was doing that and got it to boot from one of those live eval linux discs, so I knew it wasn't the hardware. She did a "repair" install and now it sees the cdroms just fine.
If you can boot from the XP cd, it's most likely that.
Just another form of Windows rot I guess.

It's part and parcel with the MS "warehouse more stuff on your machine so we don't have to put it in the install and it makes our programs look as slim as a beauty queen while in reality, they look more like Oprah after a weekend of fudge ripple madness" initiative.
I had to install it when I loaded vb.net for school.

I know Harvey.  Alot of folks are venting over the sudden loss of what was a "virtual" home for many of us.  Also, alot of people are probably worried about Rich himself due to the abruptness of it all.  As I said, all this would probably be better face to face.  At least there's less of a chance for misunderstandings and at the very least we'd have beer...until we all had too much to drink then we'd get ultra sensitive and start throwing chairs around and after we got kicked out we'd all probably have some drunken group hug before passing out in a big GG pool of vomit.
