321  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GOAT of the Year Voting: PC edition on: December 30, 2004, 03:27:46 AM
Add my vote for HL2. I've been fooling with it for three days and it STILL will not run in off-line mode. Valve, I hope you enjoyed getting my son's fifty bucks - cause you'll never see any more from us.

I miss the old days when Dallas wasn't just a speed bump in the road to the playoffs. There were some good games there. Now.... Well I believe someone mentioned karma? unibrow

I wonder if the Iggles fans cheered while he was laying on the ground?

Nah we only do that for Cowboys.  I guess now we see a lot of swing passes to Westbrook and tosses to the tight ends. And maybe McNabb will run a little more instead of trying to be a pocket passer. If he stays in the pocket you have a better chance at sacking him than if he scrambles.

I, um, forgot that plug the last box I built.....

He coulda just came out and said he thought she was a little kid driving lol.

Sounds like my wife. I thought if I married a tiny girl she couldn't physically abuse me.

The I woke up with a ballgag in my mouth, duct taped to the bed and smelling of kerosine....
331  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Wife's computer refuses to read CD's on: December 05, 2004, 02:38:17 AM
Some times XP does that. I just looked at a girl's computer which was doing that and got it to boot from one of those live eval linux discs, so I knew it wasn't the hardware. She did a "repair" install and now it sees the cdroms just fine.
If you can boot from the XP cd, it's most likely that.
Just another form of Windows rot I guess.

Ah, so you can disable ASPNET with no problems.  Thanks for the info disarm.  I thought about trying it but I didn't want to break anything.  If it doesn't really do anything kinda makes me wonder why it's there at all?

It's part and parcel with the MS "warehouse more stuff on your machine so we don't have to put it in the install and it makes our programs look as slim as a beauty queen while in reality, they look more like Oprah after a weekend of fudge ripple madness" initiative.
I had to install it when I loaded for school.

I didn't mean to make you a target, and I don't think I ever used the word whining. Nothing I said was directed at you personally. The woulda-coulda-shoulda comment was not even about this particularly thread, but ALL the "wtf?" threads here and on other boards.

I know Harvey.  Alot of folks are venting over the sudden loss of what was a "virtual" home for many of us.  Also, alot of people are probably worried about Rich himself due to the abruptness of it all.  As I said, all this would probably be better face to face.  At least there's less of a chance for misunderstandings and at the very least we'd have beer...until we all had too much to drink then we'd get ultra sensitive and start throwing chairs around and after we got kicked out we'd all probably have some drunken group hug before passing out in a big GG pool of vomit.

Don't forget the butt thing....
