Just too freaking funny smile.
363  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: Galactic Civilizations II Gold Edition for sale on: February 13, 2007, 08:11:12 PM
Yes, but Dark Avatar (the GC2 expansion) isn't available separately at retail.

With the $10 rebate in the box, it costs net as much to buy GC2 Gold ($29.99) as it would to download just the expansion from Stardock.

By the way, I have NOT submitted the rebate form--it'll come with the game, so whoever buys this can submit the rebate.
364  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: Galactic Civilizations II Gold Edition for sale on: February 13, 2007, 11:12:41 AM
No, it's Galciv 2 and it's expansion, Dark Avatar.  Plus a nice manual, and a $10 off rebate coupon inside for folks who bought Galciv 2 and are upgrading.

It's just not my speed of game.
365  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Galactic Civilizations II Gold Edition for sale on: February 13, 2007, 03:49:02 AM
$30 shipped and you've got a winner.  Also willing to trade for The Sims:  Life Stories.
366  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: Looking for The Political Machine on: February 08, 2007, 09:54:02 PM
Yes, that one.  I can't get that link to load, but I assume the price is the same as it would be through Stardock Central ($20).

I want to play it, but not bad enough to pay the same as it cost three years ago when it first came out smile.

Anyone have a copy of this hanging around they'd be willing to part with?

Normally I'm not one to point and snicker but this is Ana Nicole Smith we're talking about. Somehow I keep thinking she's going to wake up within the next 24 hours, bite a nurse, then the ultimate zombie epidemic we've all been afraid of for years will begin in, of all places, Florida. I don't know about you, but I'm heading to Lowe's to stock up on axes and nailguns because if there's one thing that will properly smite a zombie it's construction equipment.

Your compassion is heartrending.  I hope that when the time comes where you need to mourn a loved one of yours, you get more sympathy.

I really should have substituted Israeli for Jewish--I really was NOT trying to start a war.  It's what I get for posting before I think what I write looks like.

Sorry to all, because I feel like that kicked off the start of the month long politics/religion lock, and I regret any part my ill-thought comments had in leading to that.

My thoughts were correct...but I could have thought more about how the way I was expressing them looked.

I actually have a great deal of respect for the people of Israel.  I have NO respect for a government that protects a mass murderer.
372  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Well, I guess if the monster is Jewish and the victims are German, this is O on: February 03, 2007, 03:50:43 AM
Why do I get the feeling you wouldn't be calling it trolling if I made the same remark about the Israelis going after some old Nazi war criminal?

I'm sorry--I'll have to reread the CoC here again--I must have missed the part where it says "Criticism of Israel on these boards is forbidden."
373  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Well, I guess if the monster is Jewish and the victims are German, this is O on: February 03, 2007, 03:09:34 AM
Maybe we should send a Delta Force team to kidnap him and deliver him to face trial?

Oh, you mean that would be against international law?  I'm sorry.  I forgot only the Israelis are allowed to do these things.

This is disgusting.  If the nationalities were reversed, the Israelis would be screaming for a trial, if they hadn't already kidnaped him for trial in Israel.  But because the nationalities are reversed, they refuse to extradite?

Wow.  Guess it's ok to be a murderer if you're Jewish.  See Lebanon this past year for another example

100kt is only a massive bomb if you assume they've somehow made it themselves.  I shudder to think how many warheads in that range are rattling around--the Russians haven't accounted for everything after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Was talking about this one with a friend the other night.  We broke it down into four separate scenarios.  In all three, assume that Al-Qaeda takes responsibility for the blast and shouts out to the world what they've done.  For the sake of argument, let's set the nuke at 100 kilotons at ground level--enough to do a heaping helping of damage from the blast AND create fallout.

(1) A "mid-major" city, so to speak.  Something like a, say, Nashville, Tennessee.
(2) A major city that ISN'T NYC or Washington DC
(3) NYC, Wall Street
(4) Washington DC

I'll chime back in later with my own opinions, promise--I don't want my views to influence the discussion (who, moi?)

A couple of guys were arrested for posting something like this a few months back.  Better be careful, big brother *IS* watching, and your constitutional rights are slim these days.

Arrested?  For posting something like this?  You HAVE to be fucking joking.  I mean, I know our executive branch doesn't pay it much heed these days, but we DO still have a Constitution, don't we?  Do you have a link to these guys who were arrested for posting something like this?

383  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Is it worth reporting this to the police? (Internet sale gone bad) on: January 07, 2007, 04:27:55 AM
It's not someone from this board.  If it had been, I'd have outed them faster than you could say "F**k you thief".

I'm just looking for advice.  I don't want to waste my time making a stink if it isn't going to lead anywhere legally.  The problem also is, and I've seen this before--I'm a newbie on the board in question.  He's got 100+ trade feedback, all positive.  If he's willing to screw me privately--which it SEEMS like he's doing--what's to stop him from claiming I'm full of crap?

If that happened here, with the same circumstances, everyone would disbelieve the newbie.  Same there.   I'm just trying to figure out if the authorities will actually DO something over $470.  If they will, I'm willing to go through the hassle of the legalities...but I'm not flying all the way across the country to sue his ass in small claims court.  If people think the law (local fuzz/FBI, or both) is unlikely to do anything, I'm just going to cut my losses and call it a very hard lesson learned.  The point for me is my money or the goods.  He'll get his retribution from a higher power than myself smile.
384  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is it worth reporting this to the police? (Internet sale gone bad) on: January 07, 2007, 03:50:28 AM
To make a long story short, I bought an Xbox 360 and several games off someone on another forum.  They cashed the check, I never received the merchandise.  They claim they sent it out.  I asked for some kind of proof (Delivery Confirmation, etc.)--they said they sent it out without that.  When I asked for either the stuff or a refund, they told me "Well, I sent it out, I did my part, I'm not refunding you for something I mailed--it's not my fault it was lost."

Bottom line--is it worth my time reporting this slug to his local police, or to the FBI (he lives across the country from me).  Will they actually DO anything about it?
He's got solid gold feedback--something like +100 without a negative on the forum in question--which makes it even more shocking that he'd treat this situation like this.

I want to get one of the new Nanos.  When I link it to my iTunes (i already have a video iPod), can I:

(1) Sync it manually?

(2) Tell it to sync only fron a particular playlist?

(3) Use it with the same iTunes library my iPod video uses?

Thanks for helping the iPod newbie smile.

We also need to realize that they have no way to deliver a nuke yet.  Their missile tests weeks ago just go to show how they lack the capacity to deliver.  Also, a fission bomb,  :icon_eek: , the U.S. uses mainly fusion bombs (I think) which, last time I checked were more pop then fizzle.  Not too worried about it at this point.

True, Papa Smurf, but all that has to happen is for these assholes, God forbid, to sell one to some Islamic fruitcake who wants to go to Paradise and take out a US city in the bargain.

Even a small nuke could kill a LOT of people--I remember reading a study a number of years back that said a 10-kt atomic bomb--half the size of the Hiroshima bomb--blown off in Downtown New York, at 12 noon on a business day, could kill 750,000 people.

This is an incredible performance--from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of 1990.

I put up the video and the mp3 of it--got the video from Youtube, and created the mp3 from that.

The video (Quicktime/iPod format): http://rapidshare.de/files/35162998/Mr_Tambourine_Man__iPod_.MP4.html

The mp3 (128kb mp3): http://rapidshare.de/files/35163405/Byrds_with_Bob_Dylan--Mr_Tambourine_Man.mp3.html

Enjoy--I freaked out watching this the first time.  A gem that should be enjoyed.
