The 'feature' seems to be isolated to certain places/enemies. I had a great set up for a section of the prison which was wasted by every enemy but one basically in melee range by the 2nd turn. I also had 2 enemies on a slight rise at the bottom of a canyon wall and couldn't target them even though its practically the same elevation as my squad.  Wasted a damn grenade just trying to get them.  The movement change really hasn't been a show stopper since I still manage to survive, but it's damn annoying.

I've been tempted to restart since I've made a few mistakes with my skill selection but I really haven't had any serious problems progressing along.  However, I did run into 3 Slicer Dicers with my group currently around lvl 11.  Not good, will be avoiding that spot for a while even though it's in the area of manageable stuff.

I think they just made this worse.  My last play before the patching was an encounter in the Rail Nomad Raider area.  I sent 2 guys after a sniper and rifleman that were on the other side of a ravine that was going to take me at least 3 turns to reach.  They got caught in the open and died.  It was getting late so I stopped playing.  Today when I replayed the fight one of the guys moved all of that distance and parked himself on my sniper after he initiated the encounter.  mad  I had this happen again in another encounter from an NPC who was not in view when the encounter started.  Once they are in the effective combat range area their movement goes back to normal but it totally screws with any tactical set up.

*If there is in fact a cure for it (the ACUTE variation, not the moderate one), not seen anything online about it.

You need to use the Ag Center Serum, which I found some laying next to the Herbicide gun.  I'm horribly low on 5.56 ammo in Ag Center, going to be a bitch till I find more or level and add a 2nd weapon skill.
The Ag Center Serum does NOT fix the ACUTE infection. I and others have tried. If you apply the serum to a character that has the ACUTE (worsened) version of the infection, all it does is provide a temporary constitution buff that wears off.

The ACUTE infection killing off characters is either a bug or they simply want to light a fire under your behind to finish up the quests in that area. Basically, if you don't cure the characters before the "non-acute" infection timer runs out, it becomes ACUTE and the character will die eventually.

I don't consider this Acute info any sort of spoiler. It's not explained in the game. If you don't know it, you'll waste the precious serum trying to save your character to no avail and be really pissed off at the devs. You want to save the serum for later quests in the wasteland.

So my advice to newbs is don't dawdle in Ag Center. Save often. If the squad's infected, don't explore every nook and cranny until every squad member is cured. Please avoid my pain.  icon_smile

So why let the infection get to the Acute level?  This is based on doing the Ag Center after Highpool, which certainly could change some things (devs are really setting this up for multiple play throughs). I haven't gotten anyone infected at the Ag center and another farm just by using one or 2 squaddies to kite the pod people around.

I didn't mean to imply the writing is poor... far from it. But, the plots are far less engaging than the characters, dialog, and scenery (for me).

When I finish with series 4, I am going to give "Upstairs, Downstairs" a try. I have heard some fans describe Downton Abbey as "Upstairs, Downstairs for morons". smile

I prefer the original 1970's Upstairs, Downstairs more than Downton Abbey, perhaps because Downton seems like a knockoff of U,D to me.  I would definitely give U,D a try if you like Downton.  They did a new U,D that brought back one of the original characters a couple of years ago, but it wasn't very good so it only lasted 2 seasons.

List in order the higher rate of return in protein for raising cows, chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, and horses and you'll likely find your answer.  Dogs and cats are also carnivores, not many carnivores taste as good.

How do you like the Transformer?

$170 for a tablet is a sweet deal, must investigate further.

I'd still go with the ASUS for $100 cheaper than the Galaxy 10.1.  The Galaxy form/build is a bit nicer but not for $100. Only gripes specific to the ASUS I have is the proprietary usb charging and short cable. Some people don't like the plastic back but I don't see or have much of a problem with it.  ASUS has been quick to update the software and the keyboard/charger/battery add-on is pretty nice, even though I haven't bought it yet.  Still can't stream Netflix is my only other real complaint but can't blame ASUS.  3G model of the Transformer is suppose to be out in September.

I haven't had the time to get into either but plan to later in the year or something else that pops up in the discussion.  The MIT programs looks interesting.

So you use worst case numbers for the US, against best case numbers for saddam.   Nice job there, might want to compare the same things, worst case to worst case from the numbers.

Okay, so best case is about equal. The worst case vs worst case? Let's use a very high estimate on the total people killed by Saddam, 2 millions. High enough, right? Then divide that by 24 = 83333 per year. Compare that the worst case for the invasion and occupation 267123 per year. So still doesn't show that Saddam was a greater threat than US invasion and occupation.

Your method is still flawed.  You're comparing a 24 year period with a 2 year period during the peak of violence.

US contains a whopping 1.37% of the proven oil reserves in the world.  You really think "Drill, Baby, Drill" is going to impact world oil prices?

As far as nuclear, it is way cleaner than coal but can't compete on cost when dealing with the need for new plants.  Nuclear won't be economically competitive with coal until we develop more advanced reactors and/or put a price on carbon.  I don't have any citations for nuclear power cost since they are all over the board, I've read $0.15 to $0.30 per kWh whereas coal is under $0.10/kWh.  Solar & wind will almost certainly be more competitive with coal in many areas since the technology is advancing so quickly, but they of course have their own drawbacks. It's from Dec 2008 and from Time/CNN but gives the basic problems with nuclear:  http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1869203,00.html

That's an easy one, been waiting for Epic 4G update to Froyo since November and still no reliable date when it's going to be released.  I picked the Epic over the EVO in September primarily due to the keyboard, but also the CPU & screen plus the promise of Froyo coming soon(screen sucks in sunlight though).  I still have no regrets but obviously Samsung's Android support is pathetic.   I wonder what will happen first, 4G in Phoenix or Froyo for the Epic.  HTC released the EVO Shift with keyboard but it doesn't have as large a screen as the regular EVO. So at this moment it's only advantage over the Epic is Android 2.2 and it's a little cheaper.  I've not heard of anything new coming Sprint's way until the summer.

Ugh... I'm beginning to think that at least the default gun on the kv has a hidden nerf to it. My gunner can't hit the broad side of a barn, 10 ft away. I can fill the reticle with their tank, me sitting with a motionless target, and it will _miss_. Not ricochet or 'pass right through them'... flat out not hit. Whiff city.

Part of me really really really wants to just go back to my JagdPanther and forget this tank crap. BABY handles like a sportscar. With big pointy teeth. Got me spoiled right proper. Even the Ferdinand doesn't match up... too slow. Better armor and hp though.

But the KV just flat sucks.

Haven't played one but from what I've seen the KV definitely sucks.  Seems like it needs to be used as a defensive TD more than a tank.  What's your crew experience?  I felt like anything below 75% was horrible for accuracy but I've even seen my 100% crew miss a shot at point blank range to a stationary tank.  The arcade aspect of the game where a 'luck' factor is involved can be really annoying.

I currently have a fully upgraded T-44 and it's so much fun I really don't feel like leveling another class.  I've been using my free gold to research the German TD line and just hit the jdpz IV.   I definitely want to get back to the JadgPanther that I had pre-wipe because it is a fun piece of gear, although the high number of super heavy armor in battles that show up on occasion may suck.  I'm not playing enough to get it for a while so not sure if I'll ever get to it again.  I also agree that Ferdinand's are pretty useless now unless you have a good location and team to avoid being swarmed.

Don't want to jinx myself but my 17 year old cat was diagnosed with renal failure earlier this summer.  He also suffers from Inflammatory Bowel Disease which comes around every 6 months to 2 years for the past 10.  He's a little runt to start out with and lost a bunch of weight but a daily regiment of prednisone for his IBD, potassium supplement, phosphorus binder, plus every other day subcutaneous fluids for his kidney ailment and he put 12 ounces back on in 6 weeks.  I thought for certain this was his last year but he's now acting as well as he had been in the past 12 months and his latest blood test came out well, so who knows.  I'm able to give him his fluid treatment which isn't much fun for either us 5 minutes every other day but keeps the treatment cost manageable.  He's had a really good run and just hope he goes out peacefully when the time comes.  It will never be the same without him though since I got him when he was a kitten and he is never far from me when I am home. As you can see one of his favorite sleeping spots is on my mouse pad when I'm at the PC.

Servers going down Aug 26th to Sept 1st for next patch including North American server and fighting with friends!!!!  You will lose all your gear but it will be converted into free xp so you can basically respec, plus they're giving everyone 5,000 gold.

From news on WoT site:

We are planning some big updates for the World of Tanks closed beta, which will include launching new game servers in North America and delivering a fresh patch containing new game features. To make sure everything works well, we will halt the game servers from 9 a.m. GMT August 26 till September 1.

On September 1, we will be on air again with all the players connected to the American servers. Several days after that, the new 0.5 patch will be rolled out with several new features, which are:

    * Squad fights. A squad will include 2 to 3 people and will allow players to invite their friends and join a random battle as a single fighting unit, which will help them coordinate their actions and maneuvers.
    * Additional modules. Install rammers and increase your firing rate, take suspension stiffeners and improve your tank’s tonnage, decrease visibility by installing a camouflage net, choose between dozens of upgrades that differ depending on a tank model you choose.
    * Crew kits. Equip you tank crew with fire extinguishers, repair kits, first-aid sets and other elements, with each of them providing extra help in battles.

With the new patch rolled out, all beta testers will get 5000 gold each to test the new game features. The patch will be followed by a “light” wipe when the players will go back to tier 1 tanks, but all the experience they have earned will be converted into free experience which they will be able to use at their leisure. All credits will remain as well, and losing all the tanks, modules, and shells will be compensated by corresponding amount of credits spent on buying them. If a player had a premium tank or shells, compensation will be arranged in respectful amount of gold.

Stay tuned, we’ll be informing you on all major events on World of Tanks.

If someone has committed an arresting offense then obviously make sure they're here legally
Except this is not so obvious. Many cities prohibit their police from even inquiring about immigration status. They even issue ID's to illegal immigrants so they can access services which would normally require a valid driver's license.

Of course, Obama doesn't sue these governments.

Asking someone their immigration status if they are not under arrest is one thing, but if you're arrested the police have every right and will discuss your immigration status.  Arizona is getting sued because of the potential civil rights issue, not asking someone about their about their citizenship is not a violation of someone's civil rights.  I don't agree with what  New Haven is doing but if Arizona removed all their illegal immigrants it would not be what it is today.  The Phoenix Metro area was built with a LOT of relatively cheap immigrant labor in the 80's, 90's, & early 00's.  Although currently the economy in the area is horrendous, you can't blame the illegals on very much of it.  I live in Arizona and I'm not totally against the new law but I don't think it is the right answer to the problem.  A new federal immigration policy is needed but I have little faith in anything getting done right in Congress.

They're complaining that the new immigration bill promotes 'racial profiling' even though they probably never even read it. (Loved seeing Attorney General Holder talking about suing Arizona over the bill because it promotes racial profiling and then admitting he never even read it.) The bill does not allow for profiling.
Not officially, but how many whiteys do you think Sheriff Joe will be asking about their papers during traffic stops?

Because your average whitey isn't from Mexico, that's why.

The entire problem with 'racial profiling' isn't because of who they're trying to target; IT IS. But it's not like they would've been marching down the street and picking out every single Mexican and asking for their papers either.

Traffic stop? Ask for their drivers license and green card (or whatever the politically correct term is now for one's immigration legal papers). Any number of crimes that people might get stopped by a officer for? Same. It's not like they would've been driving down the street specifically targeting those from Mexico to try to slap a crime on JUST so they could see if they're here legally.

I agree the law has been blown a bit out of proportion but what if they're a legal US citizen with an accent?  Do you expect people to carry around their US Passport or naturalization papers? If someone has committed an arresting offense then obviously make sure they're here legally, but traffic stops and the like should only require ID that any US citizen would carry.

If the Bahamas trip is a stay at the Atlantis on Paradise Island, I'd say that's the pick by a mile.  After that I'd consider the time it's going to take you to get to the destination, you don't want to spend half the trip travelling.  Any interest in Aztec/Mayan ruins? fishing? scuba/snorkeling? just sitting on the beach?  They can help narrow it down.
