The show was pretty decent. I was busy running around the kitchen for parts of it but what I sat down for were well done. It followed the book pretty closely from what I remember.

For zombie books I'd recommend the As the World Dies books trilogy by Rhiannon Frater. I don't recall seeing anyone mention these books here. They're pretty inexpensive on Kindle compared to the print version cost so the investment is pretty minimal. I can easily say these books are some of my favorite zombie books, right up there with World War Z. The covers of the books look like they are for young adults but you quickly find out they are not.

Well written characters, constant fights for survival, some good laughs, some bleak moments and a satisfying ending round out this fantastic trilogy.

Get these while you can. I talked with Rhia last night (she edited my second book) and they will be getting pulled VERY soon. You won't be able to buy the first one until next year.

This con was a huge success but it was a weird location. It was at a Holiday Inn but they had the vendors and movie stars in the parking garage under the building. On one hand, it was creepy. On the other hand IT WAS A FREAKING PARKING GARAGE.

We had a bunch of peeps for our reading including a some of the bizarro guys. Sweeeeeet. Jonathan Moon was cool as hell to hang with. I'm pretty sure we are brothers separated at birth by evil zombie ninjas.

I ran into Heather Langenkamp twice, the first time I didn't know who she was but she was still nice to me. My wife freaked. I was all "who was that... ?" OH! Duh!

Saw Doug Jones, he was an odd looking fellow. Felicia Rose looked at my books. She was pretty - but I didn't know who she was and the guy she was with looked at me like I just kicked him in the balls. I still tried to sell her a Zombie Wilson ...

S G Brown hung out with me several times. He said he would do an interview with me for my podcast but like a dumbass I forgot my microphone. He was a super cool dude and had a ton of good advice. He also bought a copy of The Apocalypse and Satan's Glory Hole (I was in total fanboy mode and tried to give him one)

Bought a killer print of an album cover from Dusty Peters. He threw in the CD as a bonus.

I asked Ernie Hudson about the twinkie.

I made eye contact with Margo Kidder. Twice.

I got to hang out with NYT best selling authors John Skipp and Cody Goodfellow. They were cool as hell and I picked up Skipp's new zombie anthology which he drew stuff in.

Zombie Wilson in effect, yo.

The full table display we sat at for three days.

Jonathan Moon (my co-author) on the left, Scott G. Brown (wrote Breathers) in the middle, and me on the end.

Jon and I get ready for our joint reading.

Rose O'Keefe (Runs Eraserhead Press) and myself munching on an arm.

Jonathan Moon and I do our best Buddy Christ.

Thanks a lot forum effect. I just purchased this and can't stop playing. So much for finishing my new book this week ... or next week.

Although the game isn't complete and it is pretty ugly, it is super addictive. I have tried not to look up crafting recipes, preferring to learn as I go but it is hard to remember everything. One thing that is annoying is that I'm having trouble finding coal.

I have been blown up a few times but really, it made me chuckle more than anything else.

Whoever mentioned the Mincraft guys working with the Dwarf fortress game nailed it. That would be the most badass game ever. Why would you ever need another game? hehe

Maberry is a fantastic writer and a super cool fellow. He has an epic zombie novel due next year that may well be The Stand of zombies. I can't wait.

Just finished:

Brain Cheese Buffet by Edward Lee. One of the sickest books I have ever read. I loved every page of it.

Starting on Day by Day Armageddon - Beyond Exile.

We are live on Amazon! Soon on Barnes and Noble, Powell's and others.

It should be out on Kindle in a week or two and prices at only $2.99.

BTW an early reader (a friend who is also a writer) had this to say: "It's like Tom Robbins and Terry Pratchett had a retarted lovechild and left it on Charley Manson's doorstep... but only after they dropped the poor thing on it's head!"

-Tim

You sure he's a writer? Someone who couldn't even spell retarded right probably shouldn't be called a "writer".

eh ... I'll be sure to let her know to stop immediately. Thanks for the heads up. This sort of malicious deviance regarding the written word shall not be tolerated. I shall remove all of her novels from my house and burn them in a pyre while dancing naked, smeared in blood, to the sound of voodoo drums.
849  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Sleep, Oh Wonderful Sleep, Where Art Thou? on: July 20, 2010, 08:03:40 PM
For the past year or so I have had the same problem. This morning I woke with a galloping heartbeat (I did have a killer nightmare) but it didn't stop for a while and I have been awake since 1 AM.

I've worked hard to retrain my body to go to bed around 9 and fall asleep pretty quickly with out any meds but this waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning is getting OLD. Now my body is so used to it I can barely stay up until 10.

I think a sleep study may be the best bet as well. Glad to hear I'm not the only person suffering.

The book is finally on Kindle! Just in time, too, Amazon just announced that they are selling more digital books than actual books.

Okay, this big nasty sucker is $2.99 and I would like to say that this is the BEST edited book I have worked on. We had a pro (she is now my editor for my next few books) come in and rock this sucker. She has 12 years of freelance exp and was an english lit major. This book would have sucked without her.

Check out the Peek Inside feature on the paperback. I say this because the book is NOT for everyone.

Another side note. We have been approached by an independent comic company about turning this into a serial or anthology. We are already working up some scripts for the first few comics.  eek eek eek eek eek

Thanks so much Chaz! The book is pretty easy to jump back and forth with. It's written like a diary. In fact I wrote it online and gave the whole book away for free for almost a year but the lure of publishing it sucked me into the dark side.

The Malazan books are my favorite. I read them over and over and over.

Hey all! I don't normally beg for sales but I'm having fun doing an impromptu push to sell a few copies of Zombie Wilson Diaries on the kindle. And if you pick up a copy I will send you the PDF proof if you send me an email or PM here. That way you have more than one portable version of the book.

AND it's only $2.99! That's cheaper than a fancy-pants cup of joe at Starbucks. It's the same price as a value meal at McD's and my book WON'T give you gas.

Crypticon is in one week.  It's a horror convention in Everett WA. Is anyone else going? Would be cool to see some GT'ers there.

Last year it was in Seattle but they moved North for some reason. There are a lot of interesting guests. Check out the list at http://www.crypticonseattle.com/.

I loved Martyr's but I'm a sick bastard. It had tons of shock and gore. The ending was just ambiguous enough to keep me thinking about it for a few days after. I watched Human Centipede as well and wasn't nearly as disturbed as I thought I would be. That flick was all about what you didn't see. The German guy was creepy.

I dig all the great French horror. Frontiers was another one I enjoyed.

You can check out a 30+ page preview of the book. I realize this one is not for everybody.  Tongue It is now available on Amazon and will trickle to other stores like Barnes and Nobel and Powell's over the next few weeks. I have a limited supply of books that I will be signed by both Jonathan Moon and myself at Crypticon in Seattle next month. Please PM me or shoot me an email at stupidzombies @ gmail.com if you are interested. They will probably be priced at $15.

After completing The Apocalypse and Satanís Glory Hole, the authors, Timothy W. Long and Jonathan Moon, fled the country. They were last seen in Brazil, sipping Singapore Slings with Mescal on the side at the Cross-Eyed Donkey bar.

The men are wanted in connection with a string of bowling ball thefts, zombie resurrections, and miniature bulldog jell-o wrestling. If seen, the men are considered wacked and hyper. Caution is advised unless you have a fresh supply of nitrous oxide to share.

Clergy leaders have sworn that the two men will be brought to justice for crimes against the Church and literature in general.

I'm a new convert to the cult of mac. I just got a Macbook pro last week and love it. I was really thrilled to see that Steam was out on the mac. The bigger surprise was that I had access to Torchlight since I already purchased the PC version. very cool.

My mac is my main writing machine but it is pretty damn cool that it can play Portal so well. I don't know what kind of video card is in the machine but it should be able to handle half-life 2 if they put that out.

The graphics aren't that great but the interface, menu's and pop up characters are very crisp. I can't really comment on gameplay except to say that it is a decent SRPG. I honestly don't care about the dating sim side. My wife and I are still cracking up at the game content and cut scenes. Ah - crazy Japanese games. Love em!

So a couple of local stores have this. I'm a whore for SRPG's and the limited edition is rather funny. I showed my wife last night (she is Japanese) and she just about laughed herself silly. So worth it? Can anyone comment on the gameplay? One of my favorite games is Disgaea - is it close to that at all?

YES! And it will probably be $2.99 on kindle and B & N / smashwords. The electronic book trend is changing very rapidly. Publishers are finding that the cheaper books sell like mad. Zombie Wilson is on smashwords.com for $2.99 and if amazon ever approves the Kindle version it will be the same price.

(Just a side note. My good friend Rhiannon Frater edited Zombie Wilson Diaries. Last month she signed a 3 book deal with TOR worth 6 figures. I am so freaking proud of her!) If you like zombie books you better grab them while you can. Her self published trilogy will be pulled next month so TOR can prepare them for release.

Bad ispellchecker, BAD! LOL

We wrote the synopsis this weekend and it seemed good at the time but being writers we had to go back and change a bunch of stuff which was probably a good idea. DOH!

The book is being edited by a recent Bram Stoker award nominee. I'm really excited to have her onboard.

Note: don't google glory hole at work!
875  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / My new novel is coming soon! Warning - controversial title/topic on: April 15, 2010, 04:16:19 AM
Hey all,

I know some of you enjoyed Zombie Wilson Diaries. I had a lot of fun with that one. Well last year I was approached by a writer about doing a collaboration. We share similar interests in the bizarre. Bizarro to be exact. We talked for weeks and sketched up a plot about the apocalypse gone terribly wrong. We took a rather unique approach to writing the book together. We picked our characters and melded them into the plot but we told the book from our respective points of view. We didn't just pass a manuscript back and forth. Anyway, the book is done and coming just in time for Crypticon in Seattle this June (we will both be there doing readings and being goofy, swing by if you are in the area!)

So now the warning. The book is a very silly thing - probably comparable to South Park humor without all the bleeps but it will offend some. The title is:

The Apocalypse and Satan's Glory Hole.

Feel free to check out a synopsis at our blog. I just posted the prologue today as well. In a few weeks I'll have at least a chapter read on my new podcast.

One thing I would like to mention. Bizarro books are a good time, I love them. But they are short. We hope to break that trend. This book is nearly 115K words and the manuscript is a hefty 413 pages.

This is a rough draft of the synopsis:

Armageddon arrived on a weekday which was really inconvenient for a lot of people, including The Four Horsemen. After their appearance on The Kayla Mangrabler talk show, they decided to go their separate ways and cause as much havoc as possible. Jesus has been stuck at the craps table for three days, sipping vodka and Redbull, completely missing the end of the world. But he is about to meet up with Death and go on a road trip that will test their resolve and blood alcohol content level.

Now, an unlikely band of heroes are going to Las Vegas to fight the apocalypse. Creepy Chuzz with his one armed, heroin addicted monkey Phil are heading there in a flying ice cream truck. His best friend Leon, now on the run from Pestilence who has his designs on the janitorís bathtub LSD addled brain. Assuming he can escape the clutches of the insane Father Maniwhore.

Along the way they will encounter bouncing glory hole boxes, militant lesbians, an undead general, a flying demon named Princess Sally, hordes of zombies, and a trio of secret agents hell bent on delivering a cease and desist to Lucifer himself.

But they better hurry because the devil is rising in the desert, and he is hungry to start what his son could not. The apocalypse, but only if he can get it on with his giant floating glory hole.

I'm sure someone is trying to port Android to the phone. I'd like to see Windows 7 running on it but MS said it's not going to happen. But I bet someone will figure out how to do it. There is a video floating around of the OS running on this phone but I'm not sure if it is real.
880  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Tmobile's HTC HD2 on: April 03, 2010, 03:31:33 PM
Did anyone else manage to snag one? They sold out in about 4 hours but I wandered into a Radio Shack last weekend and they had them in stock. I upgrade phones a lot because I'm a technology whore. After a week of use this is the best phone I have ever owned. It also made me curb my desire for an iPad.

This monster has a 4.3" screen and razor sharp graphics. The downside is that it runs Windows Mobile. HTC did a nice job of covering up the OS with their 'sense' interface but you can still tell there is a ratty old dog hiding under the chrome. The phone is freakishly fast, comes with 16 gigs of storage and feels really solid. It is a big phone but I can live with that.

Oh it comes with the Barnes and Noble ebook reader - which is cool but you can't load your own books on it, you have to buy them from B and N if you want to read on it.
