I played so much of this game over the weekend I'm seeing smoke everywhere. I'd guess I've put in a dozen hours and I've completed 18% of the game. I haven't been this captivated by a game in a long time.

I watched the first episode of Rectify on Netflix last night. It seems like a pretty interesting show plus it's only 6 episodes long.

I played Second Son for a few hours last night. The graphics are phenomenal. This is the game you use to show off your shiny new PS4. Maybe I'm getting old but I found some of the early fights really difficult. Anyway, great game so far.

My copy of Second Son arrived today. Thanks, Amazon!

Saturday night, my wife and I decided to check out the first episode of the French drama The Returned on Netflix. 4 hour later it was 1AM and we were both in a daze and dragged our asses to bed. Yesterday we watched all be the last episode. What a fantastic show about the dead returning to a small village in France. I'm pretty sure the new show, Resurrection, (ABC?) is based on The Returned. If you don't mind sub-titles, check this show out. It's a moody drama with each episode looking more like a movie than a TV series.

The gaming gods were kind today. Walked into Target and they had one PS4 in stock. Gave my wife the puppy dog eyes and she relented after I impressed on her the utter rarity of this event (not really because I've seen them all over the place around here, but she didn't know that).

The Target lady was all excited and there were employees gathered around like I had come in to purchase the Mona Lisa or something. The girl who sold it to me was obviously a gamer because she was geeking out hard. If my wife had not been there I'm pretty sure she would have proposed.

When I told her I didn't want a game she looked shell-shocked. Then I told her I was waiting on Infamous. Her whole face lit up and she gave me the "fellow gamer telepathic gaze of total understanding."

I have a date night tonight so probably won't get to hook it up, but I'm all set for next week!

I just bought my wife an entire new bedroom furniture set and even got one of those down mattress toppers. I just got a PS4 and she didn't say a word. Infamous was the first game I pre-ordered but I'm having a fun time with Killzone.

Ahh! Lhasa's are great dogs.

As other's have said, go with the crate. My 8 lb Maltese (Manslayer) loves his. He's 2 years old and sleeps in our room, in his crate, every night. This works well for us since he's a hyper kinetic ball of fuzz and would probably want to play "jump on the people" all night long.
89  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: March 04, 2014, 04:16:21 PM
I stopped by my local gamestop on Saturday with my son. I did the casual "Got any PS4's in stock?" "Yep, we just got a few."

What impresses me the most about the PS4 is how freaking fast this thing is. I was up and running in about 15 minutes and that includes updates. So far I've played Killzone, Thief (LOVE!), and Outlast which scared the shit out of me. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and the controller feels great.

It's unfortunate that there are not a lot of games but it also makes me concentrate on the few I have.

I needed a "life reboot" at 40 as well and that was 5 years ago. I get it. For me it was taking a life long desire to write and getting on it. The thing that kicked me into gear was taking classes and I honestly don't know why I waited so long to pursue my dreams. Find that thing that you've always wanted to do and do it. Sorry if I sound like a Nike commercial but life ain't gonna sit around and wait on you - so make it your prison bitch.
91  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/PS4/360/PS3] Thief on: March 02, 2014, 03:38:36 PM
Thanks, Ron for the GT review. I was disappointed when I started reading reviews. I've been a fan of the series since the first Thief hit PC back in the day. I picked up the game yesterday, along with a shiny new PS4 and I'm having a blast so far. I started a game on Normal but started over on the next difficulty level but I may go back and start again with some of the old Thief mods enabled. Fun game so far.
92  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (02/24) on: February 25, 2014, 01:30:31 AM
Considering Thief and a PS4, if I can find one this weekend.

Excellent game.  What is your highest score Crusis?

My best is 3087 and I really thought I was on a roll but the game came to a sudden close. UGH! Can't stop playing.

I just can't get any better at Threes with a high score in the mid 3K range. I have read the strategies, like the corner one, and while it has made my scores more constantly high, I still haven't gotten higher than a 192 block. Anyone doing better? Some of the people I follow in Twitter are getting insane scores.

3K?! - my best is a measly 2,500.

I swear to god. Everytime I start a new game I tell myself that after this game I'll put the iPhone back in my pocket. Then I play another game. Repeat about 30 times.

Threes is incredibly addicting. It didn't look like anything interesting, but nongamers I follow on Twitter kept mentioning it so I checked it out. Really fun game. Very simple to learn, hard to master kind if thing. Slide tiles creating multiples of 3. Slide a 2 into a 1 to create a 3. Slide a 3 into another 3 to create a 6. Slide two 6s to create a 12...etc.

Damn you for mentioning this game.  Kept hearing good things about it, so I I just had to give it a look.  2 hours later...

Can't. Stop. Playing.

I produced some gas last night. Does that count?

I used to hit gone gold every day, it was probably my first stop in the morning. I had even agreed to do some game reviews for the site, (I was the games editor at another site, and writing for a few others) but then everything just went south. Anyway, GT's a great place to hang. Here's to another 10 years - <virtual quaff>.

Apple Airport Extreme
A new clock radio for my iPhone 5s
A Ken Onion Kershaw knife. I immediately sliced my finger open so it passed the "ridiculously sharp" test.

And without sounding like a sappy d-bag. My best gift was from my fans. During December they've snatched up over 3K copies of my books.

I think that was the finest episode of TWD yet. Finally we are getting to what I want! I want real threats, real consequences to the character's actions, I want more than endless supply runs. I realize that it's a long running series and there has to be a lot of filler and fan service but wow. That episode really put the fucking apocalypse into zombie-apocalypse. Well done. Bravo. Must watch again.

119  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Feed the zombies .99 book feast on: November 27, 2013, 04:21:02 AM
Hey all. I've organized a huge indie book event on Facebook called Feed the zombies - $.99 book feast. The event is all day tomorrow, November 27th, and you'll be able to pick up something like 20 books for a buck each - with one exception - a box set of 5 books for $1.99. I've gathered a who's who of the genre and brought in some new blood. Rhiannon Frater, Craig DiLouie, David Moody, Mark Tufo, and John O'Brien to name a few. So gorge on cheap undead reads before you gorge on dead bird.

120  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How has your life changed since the last "next gen"? on: November 25, 2013, 01:25:20 PM
It took me about a year and a half to get on the next gen train last time around. I had a lot of time to play games and my wife tolerated them well enough. I had several consoles do the red ring of death thing a year later which was lame!

Now my kids are grown but I'm still married to the same great gal, 23 years next month, and I have almost zero time to play. I've put a paltry 2 hours into the new Call of Duty game since it was released. In the last 5 years I've written 7 novels and the more I write, the more time I have to dedicate to the craft and fulfilling publishing contracts. But that's not the only reason I don't play games as much as I used to. I just can't seem to get into games anymore. Skyrim was the exception - I think I lived in that game for a few months. In fact I'm scared to start it up again because weeks of my life will just disappear.
