After reading all the comments here I have come around. The racial stereotypes of talking goats has gone too fucking far. As the co-author of a novel containing a talking goat I find this commercial neither funny nor in good taste and plan to get good and mad about it very soon.
I hope the rapper, Tyler, that created this travesty, is prepared for my full and righteous indignation.
Hooah! I'll be here all weekend pushing books, gawking at celebs, and tossing one-liners with my buds Peter Clines and Rhiannon Frater. If anyone is in the Dallas area I hope you swing by my booth (168 - 169). Check out this crazy guest list - I'm at the very bottom as writers should be.
I can't wait to do my photo-op with Jeffery Combs dressed as Dr. Herbert West. Meeting Danny Trejo is also HIGH on my list of things to do before I die. I'll post pics after I recover.
Wow! This commercial cracked me up. If this skit were in a Wayan's brothers movie no one would have said a word. Ridiculous oversensitive media strikes again.
It took a week but I finally managed to sit through the first episode and I won't be back for more. There was trouble at the first hint of teen angst and it just got worse from there. I swear that if I were playing "take a shot ever time they hit a cliche" I would have passed out at the half hour mark.
Amazon delivered yesterday. I've only had 2 hours so far but the game is fun. It is also very retro and shows it's age. The 3D isn't very deep but the gameplay sure is. Looking forward to more of the game.
I've thought about it but for the life of me I'm just not smart enough to figure out what the hell it is. I read their page, read about the economy and just don't get it. I need pictures drawn for six year olds.

Love Maberry and his Ledger series. I'm salivating over Extinction Machine. But my wife prefers we go through the library.
Great interviews.
I have extinction machine but I haven't had time to read it yet. Maberry is one of the classiest writer out there. He's very approachable and always has great advice. When I was just starting out he not only read my books, he blurbed one, and even helped me find an agent.
A couple of these authors are from the UK so I had to ask them about the use of guns in their books.
If you aren't familiar with David Moody please check out his awesome book Hater. Imagine that half of the people in the world suddenly hate the other half and want nothing more than to kill them. There are no boundaries, no lines, no political parties. It's unchanged vs. haters and it's a blood bath. Guillermo del Toro has signed on to produce the movie.
I have friends that wait until HBO or any other pay channel is free for a weekend and then record entire series. They can then watch them at their leisure, is that any different than pirating?
Slightly different viewpoint on piracy of media in general. As an author, I am not bothered in the least by anyone pirating one of my novels or audiobooks. I figure that if someone downloads it for free they had no intention of ever buying it in the first place. Last year I sold a hair over 20K books and a quick search turns up my books on torrent sites, websites, usenet, ... I just don't care if it was downloaded another 5k or even 10K more times by pirates, chances are a few of them may enjoy one of my works and buy one, or at least tell a friend about them.
Over the last month I've done a number of interviews with a veritable who's who of post apocalyptic/zombie lit. The interviews have been a lot of fun. They are a mixture of genre related questions, writing tips, and at least one 'fun' question. I know some GT'ers enjoy some of these authors. So far I've tapped:
I've stood by my Vita since the day it was released. It's a wonderful piece of technology marred by a really lackluster collection of games. I still have it but I purchased a 3DS XL last weekend and a number of games to provide my mobile gaming fix. I'm not abandoning the Vita but I'm just so MEH over what is available. Not much of a rant ... back to Monster Hunter 3.
I have mixed feelings about online writing groups. They can be good, don't get me wrong, but they can also be filled with know-it-alls that have never had anything published. Can I make a suggestion? Take a writing class instead. There are a number of sites that offer online courses taught by professional authors and you will get a lot more out of them than your run of the mill groups.
I was in a local Target today and saw that all video games were buy 2, get one free. I was tempted to get the new Gears of War, Dead Space 3, and Tomb Raider but somehow resisted.
Very timely. I'm planning to buy roundtrip tickets to Japan for the family and the cheapest I've found is very painful at about $1200 a pop. I never even considered contacting a travel agent. Hmmm.
This surgery require having another chest tube post op?
Sent from me cool phone
I assumed so since they have to collapse my lung again for the surgery. If I don't have to have that cursed tube it wouldn't be all that bad. Come to think of it they mentioned multiple tubes post op. Blech.
As a RN, nothing gets much more brutal than watching a chest tube getting inserted. Thought I would faint the first time I had to help a MD insert one.
Guessing they gave you Fentanyl for pain first and then Versed next for the dreamland state you were in. Good shit.
I remember walking into a patient room once with them holding the entire tube in their hand and asking "should this be connected to something?"
Glad it worked out OK. Pretty painful shit.
Sent from me cool phone
I was so out of it when the tube went in that I didn't really care at the time. It was when they yanked it out ...! They just said to bare down and then he pulled it, like it was a 8" long thread coming out of fabid. The feeling of a chest tube rubbing against my ribs along with the noise which was something like cutting meat, was indescribable although I think I just did a pretty good job. Once the tube was out all that redirected pain faded in a few hours.
Yeah, Fentanyl might have been it or maybe that was later. I heard someone say dilaudin though. The happy dream time ended when they wheeled me to my room and I had to get in the bed. MOTHER F! That was tricky.
It was weird. I was complaining about being short of breath for a few days so I went to the Doc at lunch. He listened to both sides of my chest then listened to my back. He called in another Doc. Listened some more and then they took X-rays. The Doctor comes in about 15 minutes later and sits down. "You have a collapsed lung."
"Say what the fuck?!"
The next few hours were a blur as I was piled me into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. Within half an hour a surgeon came down. Sliced through my chest, and ran a tube (I called it the garden hose) into my chest cavity to let the air out. They gave me some amazing drugs just before this. They actually asked me which one I wanted first. The "I don't care about anything in the world." Or the "Pain pain go away." I took the pain stuff first because I've never had it. Wow, talk about floating. For the next 18 hours I was on a constant rotation of some amazing stuff they put in my IV and doses of Oxy alternated every two hours.
I had to have the hose connected to a water seal which is this box with hieroglyphs and crap all over it. It was then connected to a vacuum so my lung could re-expand in my chest. I was in the hospital for 4 days and the cause? Get this. I quit smoking 20 years ago and son of a bitch, I have lung disease attributed to my old bad habits. The good news is that it can be cured, the bad news is that I have to have surgery soon. Blech. I have good insurance but it rang up to almost $16K in claims. So a week on Oxycodone, lots of rest and I feel almost back to normal. I was also so bored in the hospital I believe I saw every episode of Pawn Stars and American Pickers. The History Channel runs them alllllll day.

I think this is the LG I bought at Best Buy. It was a scratch and dent(big dent) at the top of the door so it was $899. Anyway someone made a mistake and they delivered a brand new one straight from the warehouse; was NCAA basketball championship weekend, we were the last delivery. The guys took one look said "we aint taking that back"; i tipped them $40 for being fast and putting my old fridge in the garage as we were giving it away.
What a great deal! So what do you think of LG quality? We recently purchased an LG front load washer and it's been pretty fantastic. I've read that LG's quality isn't as good as Samsung but they are making gains. We also bought an LG TV late last year. Come to think of it my kids new Nexus 4 phone is made by LG. They are invading my home - .
The first review really kind of says what I've found out about looking for appliances in general. We decided on that for the extra drawer fridge thinger.
We are looking at this model at Best Buy. This one is on sale at just about every retailer so it must be time to make room for a new model. I'm fine with saving $800 and getting the old model. Beats the hell out of our 12 year old Kenmore which was a fine fridge but it's racked up some repair bills in the last few years. The 'in cart' price is $2420 or something like that.
It's time to replace the old fridge. My wife and I have been looking at the french door with the freezer on the bottom style but there are so many! Anyone have nice things to say about LG, Samsung, or Frigidaire or any other brand for that matter. We are leaning toward Samsung due to reviews but does anyone have one and can offer thoughts?

Overall, this was definitely a better episode, with everyone trying to move their own stories forward, at least. Well, not Andrea, really. And the Gov started to, but then, like an inept supervillain, he walked out on his master plan before it was really underway.
Spoiler for Hiden:
He took out one guy, then went through several rounds of stormtrooper level shooting until the zombie bus arrived. Why leave then? I think the one zombie showing up was supposed to be an impetus, but it seemed like a non-threat.
My guess is he didn't know really know the true numbers or firepower inside the prison, so he just sends in zombie bus to thin the herd, then pops back in later to clean it out.
Agreed.
Spoiler for Hiden:
I dont think it was the Gov's plan to end Ricks crew right then and there. He was performing an act of terror, not an actual assault. He didnt have enough troops or firepower with him, to take on a fortified position. He came in, rattled their cage, dropped the zombie bomb and split. Ricks crew is now damaged, divided and confused.
Spoiler for Hiden:
That seems like a dumb plan, though. Rick's crew has already come in and knocked this shit out of the town, despite their having superior numbers and firepower (and he does have some information through both Merle and Andrea and what he got from Glenn and Maggie, hazy though that info might be. He took out one guy and left. All he's done is stir up the hornets nest now, and these are hornets that have already delivered a nasty sting.
I don't see that as a problem with the episode, though. I totally see that all being what the Gov would do. It's more about his character which, in my opinion, is not as impressive as I was hoping for.
Spoiler for Hiden:
Well said. The scene with the Gov shooting his gun in the air after getting the good guys "just where I want them" and then leaving was idiotic. Someone needs to send him the Evil Overlord List so he can get his shit together.
I am not a gun guy and I didn't really grow up around guns. I write books and the characters in my books often use guns. That being said I went to a gun shop a few years ago and talked to one of the salesmen. We had a great conversation and he showed me around the weapons I wanted to write about.
I've owned a Rock River Arms Tactical Operator 2 ever since. I don't have an assault rifle because I need one. Seriously, if someone broke into my house in the middle of the night I'd more than likely shit the bed before I took a shot at them and risked shooting one of my family members by mistake.
I keep the gun locked in a hard plastic case. It also has a trigger lock. I have taken safety classes with my wife and daughter and every 2 or 3 months we go to an outdoor range and blow through about $75 worth of ammo. It's a hell of a lot of fun but I could live without the gun.
