81  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: NWN 1 on Win7 64 bit? on: July 24, 2010, 06:52:36 PM
I havent yet upgraded to Win7, but it works fine in vista 64 bit. I do remember it having a black screen on start up and you had to guess where the buttons were on the 1st load screen but once you did that it worked (just moved around middle of screen and clicked) but think that was with the previous patch or maybe driver issue but that was a while ago.

BIS Studio's OFP forum is still up and has lots of stuff. For just a unit replacement, Sanctuary makes good stuff. Here is his GRAA units. The post also has the info on how to set it up.

I think I'm having the same problem I had a year ago IIRC. There's links on the BIS Studio for Sanctuary's addon that refer to the official 1.96 patch and a official, required BIS addon named 'Camel'. The link to the Camel addon however is broken, and when I go to the site that previously hosted it -www.flashpoint1985.com- there's no mention of it. I've even used the search engine on that site, but have come up blank?

Yeah some links are dead now. You sometimes have to find a working OFP file site and then search there for a the addon/mission, etc. Here might be the right camel. For other sites just google OFP files or something until you find a file/campaign repository. Love the game but it can be a pain getting stuff working or finding files bits this late in its life.

Creepy, thanks again. That looks like the file all right, but I'm a bit WTF as to why it's required for Sanctuary's addon? That's a BIS addon file for a WW1 Camel plane. Unless of course Sanctuary's addon also contains an update for WW1 objects? I was under the impression that Sanctuary updated the cold war era textures and objects in Cold War Crisis.

His release notes say something about him fixing the camel pilots face bug. So it looks like he updated all the heads in the game included this one.

I have never played DEFCON despite having pondered getting it many times. I think what's held me back is not being sure how it'll look on my aging HDTV - I have difficulty discerning the small icons and text in many RTS's.  CoD Black Ops is definitely well lit on my radar, but I'll be getting the 360 version on Nov 9th.

I already own Operation Flashpoint CWC and it's 2 expansions, and I agree it's a heckuva good Cold War shooter. I actually reinstalled it about a year ago, but something I no longer have is the fan-made textures/graphics update or the docs on how to apply it.  icon_frown

Have a mudhoney t from 93 piece of cake tour. Don't wear it much now (did until year agoish) as it now has a few holes around the screen print. Also have a Dans Comp t (bicycle mail order co) from 94 that is in good shape except its off white as I wore it in the local lakes a bit too much.

I didn't really catch that the fake mom was smokey until the end and after reading other forums. If you watch the beginning, the fake mom offers her hand and help to the pregnant one, which is what fake locke/smokey does to people.

Think the EP would have done better earlier on then this late in the show.

Stick an iPad in the keyboard mount and essentially you have a wireless desktop.  Aside from the power cord (which you can disconnect if you feel like) there are no wires to mess with  icon_smile

LOL, just try playing Far Cry 2 on it though Tongue

I do think a ipad/monitor mix would be sweet. Have it plugged into the base to use on a regular computer, then disconnect when you just want to basic surf or watch stuff.

If you then get an issue about install #s exceeded due to trying to install it over and over email tages. I had issues installing Clear Sky on my old system (something about mobo preventing tages install). Even though my installs failed I had gone over my install limit. Emailed tages and they got it reset fairly quickly (Quicker than gamersgate response who I got the game from [Was unsure of install issue so contacted both after some googlefu]).

Why not try the MP forums here or at OO to find a game and group to play with (Coop or friendly MP)? That should be a good way to get into it. Or if you have other gaming forums try there too.

I used to play a lot of CS and it took forever to find a good server to play on, but once I did it was some very enjoyable MP. Probably part of why I stopped MP was the old server I played on closed down. Now I prefer just playing my SP games. Not enough time for MP if I want to enjoy the games I have.

Think I got a copy from gogamer or big lots for uber cheap last year. Applied the UK patch fine but don't remember if my dvd was us or uk. I only briefly fired it up but dig what they tried to do. Makes me think of Deus Ex in the jungle because of the hud/gui stuff. Still need to go back and play once I finish some other games I'm working on. Think all I did was test drive the boat a bit.
96  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Can anyone recommend some Wii games for a 3 year old girl? on: February 14, 2010, 02:42:44 PM
My son liked the Diego game when he was 4ish (still plays it sometimes). They have 2 Dora ones like it (All are basically the same game just different artwork so grab the cheaper one).

He also enjoyed just rolling around painting stuff in de Blob.
97  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: ARMA2 what's the verdict? on: February 06, 2010, 03:30:01 PM
I have it but haven't really played it yet. Snagged it cheap sometime ago.

They are still releasing patches and users are still busy making missions/unit mods for it. Not sure of the state of the OG campaign but there should be lots of SP missions for it. You can always just plunk troops in the editor and fight.

I picked it up since I like OFP and ArmA, even with their clunky controls and I liked the ArmA2 demo.

If you haven't tried the demo, try it.

I don't think I would pay full price for it (unless OFP and ArmA are your fav games) so find it cheap or maybe wait until its standalone exp comes out (2011?) and check its reviews.

How quickly I cave smile

Had to go out near my BB so stopped by. They had 2 copies left still at $50 but went ahead and got it. Not opening it for the 30day return period to see if I find it somewhere cheaper (Target secret shelf? I can dream!) . Now to hit up my local used game store or Hasting to trade in MP3.

They should just start doing this as regular marketing..call them all limited editions smile
101  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] Not even Nintendo can sell games on their own console on: January 10, 2010, 10:53:53 PM
I haven't bought it yet because still need to play MP3 I have and had other wii games I wanted first. Was waiting for it to drop in price though would probably skip and just get Other M once its out. A quick google showed MP3 only sold 1.5m so don't see why they expected huge sales for MPT. Maybe every got enough metroid when they bought MP3. I never thought the Metroid were big sellers anyway, least VS Mario or Zelda.

103  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: My first CD of FarCry is bad - How can I get a copy? on: December 14, 2009, 02:13:22 PM
If you can copy all the other files, you could also try copying and renaming some other BIK file as the missing BIK file since its just a movie file. Not the best way if you want to see the clip but should let the game run.
104  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: ArmA II - demo, videos, reviews and other stuff on: December 12, 2009, 06:04:12 AM
I still need to really play this and the ArmA1 exp, but this is why I like BIS even if they release buggy stuff. They really patch and support their product and the mods don't hurt either. Sometimes I think we're just bug testers for the next patch/game but I don't mind. At least they keep working on it.

Why not just a harmonica? While its not geeky in itself, playing video game music on it would be. Then play it in a more bluesy feel to be even more geeky.

I play the music to Moon Patrol on my bass sometimes...sometimes while my wife is playing it on mame.

Horrible thx to cheapy steam/amazon/target/big lots finds. Still, even if I buy 5 games in a month its really just 1 since I get them for $10 or less. I did good with no purchases then last 2 have been bad but no worse than buying 2 new games.

I also blame my new midrange rig that lets me play these bargains I missed since my old rig couldn't.

110  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Why is your handle your handle? on: November 11, 2009, 02:11:04 PM
Mine's a Melvins song. Used to play a lot of Counter Strike and was going by Bad_Airplane (Possible band name some friends thought up) and wanted to change it after 9/11. Was listening to tons of Melvins at the time so picked Creepy_Smell. Also played some CS as Pope17 before settling on BA. No clue why I picked that one.

Also sometimes go by Nebula24, which is really my oldest handle but mainly used it for emails and stuff. Way back in time was worried about spam or MP players getting to my real handle so used BA and CS (Not sure why I thought this would work or really cared but it was the mid 90s and I was an internet noob). N24 just comes from my interest in space and my age at the time.

Another vote for scribblenauts. My 5 year old watched me playing it and now he really likes it. He tries to sound out the words and then types them out. I watch to help him when he spells them wrong or if he doesn't know how to spell it. Sometimes he can figure out what needs to be done but sometimes I have to read to him what it says. I do like that its helping him to solve problems and teaching him to spell.

He also plays lots of Kirby in the GBA slot.

Both groups are whacky, but I think its easier to believe that Bush knew about 9/11 than to think that Obama's parents are some super masterminds to fake his birth certificate and newspaper release of his birth so he can be president when he grows up. I don't read the truther stuff much though so not sure how far back in time they say the Bush/9/11 stuff took to plan but wouldn't think it would be a lifetime.

Not that I need any other games, but now that I have a PC that can run it, I'm looking at ARMA2.  I'll probably just wait until OPFLASH 2, but how is the singleplayer in this game?

Heard its real buggy but I'm not sure as of the latest patch. There are always a few threads on BIS forums about the latest one. At least BIS does keep patching their games.

I think most people just play in the editor or download custom missions to play.

I still need to finish ArmA but will end up with ArmA2 at some point but waiting on a price drop or more details on the expansion (Think its stand alone so waiting to see how that splits the mod community unless it and Arma2 same base game just different campaigns).

Hoping OFP2 turns out good too even if its more GRAWish than GR OG.
