Theres a new Series2 out that has dual tuners.

The thing now is, if I buy it at Best Buy, the monthly fee is $12.95, if i buy it online, they charge $19.95 a month.. Crazy.

The $20 online is because you are paying less for the box upfront ($30 for 80HR DT or $130 180HR DT) while at BB you pay the full price of the box ($250 for 80HR DT/$350 for 80HR DT, though there is a $150 rebate). In the end both came out to close to the same price, I think you save $20 for the year by going through BB. After the year, you do have to change your service plan to the $13 one though or it will stay at $20 (At least this is how I've read it as I'm currently looking to buy one too)

I did find this deal where for $300 you get the 180HR DT, 1 year of service, and Wireless adapter. Seems like a nice deal as $300 would normally just get the 80HR DT, 1 year of service and a wireless adapter so you getting 100HR more capacity.

Im waiting to see how MP handles. I've spent most of my NWN time playing on persistent worlds. Waiting to see how the game handles these along with how the servers handle it (How large of worlds are supported, number of players, server specs needed, etc).

A quick test would easily destroy this myth, but none would read it since it wouldnt be sensationalism.

Grab a set of people who have never fired a gun before. Then split them into 2 groups, 1 that plays GTA and one that doesnt for a month. Then have them go shoot some guns and see how "extraordinarily effective" the GTA playing ones are now at shooting.

Though I have heard rumers that Colt is redesigning their guns to look like a PS2 controller smile

Any more impressions of Mechassault? Or how about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? Thinking of 1st getting Pokemon as it sounds like it would have a longer playability. Then get Mech later on.
527  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: SD Memory for the Wii- How much will we need? on: September 15, 2006, 09:04:14 PM
Wonder if its possible to copy the files from the SD to a PC for storage. Then just recopy the games you want to play. That way you dont need lots of different SD cards.

I know it would work in theory but not sure if any DRM it might use would make it not work, though since its back into the same Wii maybe it wouldnt be any issue.

528  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Do graphics matter that much? on: September 15, 2006, 04:07:47 AM
My 32" SD says gameplay. I have no urge to upgrade it for a while. Currently its not worth it to me just for prettier pictures. I've got enough old gen stuff to keep me busy.

If I had a HD I would probably want a rig to show it off with, though if I had a HD it probably means I could afford both a 360 and a Wii or just a PS3 smile

I'm interested in the Wii but waiting to see how it plays. With its small size it would fit happily by my xbox or some other nook of my entertainment center. I never had a gamecube and waiting on Wii feedback to determine if I get a Wii or a cube. Or maybe I'll skip this gen of the consoles and get a PSP to keep my DS company.

"What's going to be stored on this ID card?
At a minimum: name, birth date, sex, ID number, a digital photograph, address"

Seems like this would help people that do identify theft. Just go to a crowded area with a RFID reader and grab the data off the cards.

But it would be nice in bars as you could always get her name & number smile

EDIT: Hopefully my in-laws won't hear about this or I'll have to hear about how its the sign of the end times/mark of the beast when I'm over there.
531  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Nintendo DS 9/11-9/12 releases. on: September 13, 2006, 04:20:19 PM
Mechassault sounds interesting. Cant wait to here forum peoples comments or other reviewers.

The IGN one bothers me when he states the DS isnt as powerful as an XBOX. Im shocked by this revelation!

"The developers may have tried to give Nintendo DS owners the true Xbox experience on the lesser handheld hardware, but let's be realistic: the Nintendo DS is nowhere near an Xbox in power. So, don't be surprised at the "dumbed down" visuals like lower-resolution textures, barebones polygonal structures and somewhat simplistic mountainous terrain. "

As long as it looks like most DS games I'm fine with the graphics.
532  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Help me pick a portable console system on: September 12, 2006, 09:18:55 PM
EB Games/gamestop site is showing you can trade a DS Lite and get a new color one for $70. It also has you can trade in a GBA SP and get a DS Lite for $99. No mention of the regular DS.

I like the onyx DS Lites. Maybe I'll go check and see what I could get for my regular DS and GBA SP since I'm heading to a mall today. Or I might go see if Gamexchange (local used game/video store) orders systems since they normally give a better instore/cash value to trade ins.

534  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Help me pick a portable console system on: September 09, 2006, 02:24:34 PM

If you haven't done so, you should also go to some stores where they have demo systems out to play them. Though you might have to try a few stores to see if they offer different games. Seems like most stores have DS demos out but few have PSPs out (Ive only found PSPs out at the Gamestops but havent really looked that hard).

Also, have you looked at what games are out/will be out for each system to see if one offer more of what you want?

DS Gamerankings page and GBA Gamerankings page(since DS plays them).
Fall DS games from IGN

PSP Gamerankings page.
Fall PSP games from IGN

And as others have probably said, think of the DS as a portable SNES/N64 and the PSP as a portable PS2 for what type of games to expect.

Its bunk.

From any set of people there will be those who use drugs.

LANning is not making them do the drugs. This is a group that likes to do drugs and also LAN, which is what the stony guy even stated.

There are lots of LANs where this is not common just the writer is not going to them.

For this article, LAN could also be easily replaced with any other activity that humans participate in.

Furries are the real threat to our existence. Furrie drug fantasy football nascar strip poker parties....oh the humanity.. eek

I'm not laughing smile  I'm still running an ATI 9700 Pro!

I recently ebayed on of those for $40. Lots better than my ol' GFti4200 64MB. Let me play Oblivion at 1024*800 w Med settings which is all I need for now. Hopefully it will play Armed Assault as thats the only other game I want other than what I already have.

A better card would have probably required a new power supply and I didn't want to pay a lot and still be stuck with AGP. Decided to spend as little as possible now and do a real upgrade later.

Thankfully the government is looking into these "games" so I dont have to spend 1 second looking at a box cover or reading/looking at the game's box to see if I would find it acceptable for my kid.

Why look at GTA..them evil game designers hide some content that makes it inappropriate for youngsters since the rest of the game was so wholesome.

Actually, instead of showing clips of ingame footage why not show the box the games come in and wonder why parents still buy it? Oh, I dont want to lose voters..

I have it and like it. It reminds me of a mix of TH2 and TH4.

If you just want a portable TH game you cant go wrong with it. Its not ground breaking or anything but its fun.

Now if they would only make Jet Set Radio DS using a similar engine.

Me too. Think I'm in Chap12 or so but dont remember. While I like the game I just feel too confined (Some levels are more open but as a whole I feel confined). I hate that in a building with lots of doors there is only 1 that will open. I would like it so much more if the door would open even if it was a room that led nowhere.

I've been playing too many more open ended FPS and dont want to go back to 1 path forward only games. While its still fun, its just not as much fun as the other games I'm playing.

The new Super Mario Bros game is also coming out next month (May 21?)I believe.

My wife got one of the all in one epsons and while its good, the little built in screen failed right after its warrenty was over. It can still be used for printing and scanning, etc. but some features were only accessable through the printers menu and not the desktop software (I never really used them but its sucks to lose them). For the next one I am either making sure it has no little screen or all functions can still be done in software.

I dont think playing online games would be much of an issue.

What would be is downloading patches, mods, demos or downloading maps you didnt have, etc.

But just game traffic shouldnt be too much I would think.
