1  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Nintendo refurbished 3DS systems on: November 01, 2013, 02:56:39 AM
just got it in. only started it up and did the basic settings but looks brand new. only know its not because of refurb sticker on box. no marks or dents on outside or inside. no scratches on screen. 3d working during setup. buttons/controls feel fine. still need to play a game but so far good way to save a bit on one of them. did take about 7 days (1 day process order, 1 day get it ready to ship, then 5 days shipping [went from WA to OK]). Came with ver 5.1.0-11u.
2  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Nintendo refurbished 3DS systems on: October 24, 2013, 02:08:58 AM
refurb xl was 169 other day. now they are 149. sold! was going to go for the og but just 40 more for xl. smile

EDIT: has 5 ship + est tax. so total came out right under the original 169 price.
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] ARMA 3 on: July 04, 2013, 08:27:43 PM
i love OFP & Arma but controls are a big learning curve.

you have usually wasd (or however you configure) but then you also have lean, crouch and lay down. you can also double tab to maintain run, lean or crouch while walking, etc.

would suggest trying demo of Arma 2 to at least get feel for it.
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What is the first video game you ever purchased? on: May 25, 2013, 04:06:59 AM
I remember buying Haunted House for Atari before I had a c64 so maybe that (Would have been about 10). Had lots of other atari games but they might have been gifts, etc. Got haunted house at IGA grocery store and know I bought it by myself. Before that probably begged parents or something. Think gunship was one of the first c64 games I bought myself (My 13 yr old self would ride across town to Target). My kids would freak if they had to use keyboard overlays and long load times smile
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / neverwinter 1 black screen start up fixes on: April 27, 2013, 11:04:20 PM
I've had NWN installed on my vista rig for some time now but never got it to work. Had finished it when still on w2k and installed it so I could still play user made modules or persistent worlds.

Every few months I mess with getting it started and fail until today!

Tried the stuff here: bioware forum - compatibility mode stuff but it didnt work.

Today stumbled across GOG forum mentioning to just rename nwmain to something else. Renamed it to nwmain1.exe and now it runs smile Only other tweak was unselecting 'Enrironment Mapping on Creatures' or everyone was invisible (using AMD card not sure if for everyone).

i cant stand my feet dangling off a bed or couch. keep expecting some poltergeist clown scene to grab me. im cool if my feet are touching the ground though just not dangling. also multi check doors locked and clock alarm set at night.
7  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: New 3DS games - Mario & Luigi, Mario Golf, LEGO City UC on: March 21, 2013, 08:24:40 PM
was doing good holding out, but think the gaming gods want me to have a 3ds.

have seen that next week target has 3dsxl on sale for 160. at work got employee of month ($150) [got for august but they didnt get around to handing at 1/2 years worth of them until this week].

would be nice playing my ds backlog on a bigger screen than the dslite i have. smile
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] ARMA 3 on: March 09, 2013, 09:19:10 PM
i've figured out i need to wait a few years to get the arma games as they always crush the rig i have when they are released. so the game ends up in backlog for a few years until ive upgraded. played lots of arma1 and have but still need to play arma2 as ive just barely played any missions.
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 3/8/13 on: March 08, 2013, 05:24:29 PM
Oblivion. Had character 1hr in and started back up to play shivering isles. 18hrs later still in base game. smile
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Oblivion - Underwater mods (features not breathing) on: February 26, 2013, 01:52:40 PM
played a bit with them and so far like them.

alive waters does make it look nicer with plants. found 1 enterable wreck from ship wrecks mod. did notice some weird land glitching when i swim towards underwater ridges but after removing the 2 mods it still happened. so think its just oblivion lod popup. could still be some other mod I have causing it just never noticed before since I wasn't underwater. not a big issue.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Oblivion - Underwater mods (features not breathing) on: February 25, 2013, 01:34:41 AM
One thing I liked in morrowind was finding old shipwrecks and stuff in water.

So far found 2 mods for my Oblivion replay that add to the water: Alive Waters which adds some ship wrecks, underwater plants, etc.; and Ship wrecks. Know of any others?

Already have all my other mods. Just wanting to give my Argonian something more to do in the water. Though it has come handy in a few dungeons and a well quest so far.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 2/22/13 on: February 23, 2013, 02:57:03 AM
finished dishonored and after an hr of dorking on a morrowind save started an oblivion replay on a 1st level save i had setup but never really started (love open world but with lack of time like fast travel and map pointers too). finished main quest so ignoring this time and doing main guild quests and some others until hopping over to shivering isles as ive never played it.

Oklahoma's not that bad.  Couple of hours from Dallas-Ft Worth, reasonably low cost of living, minimal Obama-drones, and I'm pulling in six figures.  What's not to like?

can only get good beer warm unless at bar. but its way better than it was in the 90s when guiness and moosehead were the only imports at bars smile

14  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Oldest save game you have installed on: February 20, 2013, 04:55:00 AM
I was thinking if both saves you still play and even ones just sitting lonely. As long as they can quickly be loaded.  Not in attic on zip drives or floppies. smile
15  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Oldest save game you have installed on: February 20, 2013, 01:54:16 AM
due to the recent morrowind thread loaded up the game and played a bit (Saved woman from some ruins). i have 3 saves, all are at about the same time gameworld wise, but one is 2007, one is 2009 and now 2013 (was 2012). though I know it really is from 2004 when my 1st kid was born. think its probably the oldest save game I have on my pc as its one of the 1st games I used to install when setting up a new rig besides FPS which would have been deleted long ago after I finished them.
16  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Crazy Priced Ebay Bids on: February 15, 2013, 07:01:10 PM
Was looking to see how some of my gba carts are priced on ebay and came across NES Stadium Events for only 85k! Looked on its wiki and it did sell once for 23K.

Sadly my gba carts (even Tactics Ogre) were no where near that price. frown  smile

was already wanting a 3ds but this makes it harder to resist. maybe hold out until next price drop. still have ds/gba games to play on my dslite. could always sell some of them to help fund a 3dsxl though smile

Im pc+wii+ds. My old comp still handles new titles and ive got backlog on all systems. Eyeing 3ds later in year and someday wiiu. Pc gives me fps fix and while me and kids like nintendo. Do like some of the ps3 stuff so might eye a ps4 but doubt it. Dont mind being a gen behind.

mostly some dishonored (pc) and probably some aliens infestation on DS or 9th Dawn on Android.
20  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / [Android] 9th Dawn - old school (pc) looking RPG on: January 06, 2013, 06:21:24 PM
Stumbled across 9th Dawn and have enjoyed the hr or so I played as a Knight. Looks like old school pc rpgs. Controls good - 1 stick to move and 1 stick to aim/attack. You can also click on boxes, etc. to open them or to talk to people (It has an hand icon but doesn't always work). Only have demo not but will plan on getting it since only $2. Has active forum on developer's website too.
21  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Holiday deal for a 3DS XL or Vita? on: December 09, 2012, 11:01:56 PM
Need to resist...such a nice price. Couldnt justify wiiu due to wii backlog but 3ds so cheap vs my ds backlog.
22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 8/3/12 on: August 04, 2012, 09:58:05 PM
finishing up Syndicate. then will play some Walking Dead (played 1/4 or chap 1 I think). if i get past both of those will get back to The Real Texas ( - weird blocky zeldaish indie game) [played a few hours to get feel for it need to go back].
23  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Aurora and gun control on: July 23, 2012, 02:25:07 AM
i'd like it if the news talked more about mental health care. as its about nuts not guns, since they would use other weapons if needed. just bugs me lately that when gun incidents happen its about gun control and not mental health, especially since most turn out to be known to have issues. the focus should be on the nut and how to prevent, not what weapon was used.

i'm not even into guns (dont have one but lots of friends do). don't think people need them everywhere, but do prefer ccw to open. in this specific event dont think it would have mattered much (dark theatre, smoke, tac gear) but a lot of other events it could have helped.
24  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: What's your Steam Sale haul on: July 15, 2012, 03:46:57 AM
trying hard to just get stuff off my wishlist, but indie games kept cropping up

trine 2 (enjoyed #1)
dynamite jack
hard reset: extended edition (need more scifi fps after playing deus ex human rev and now playing syndicate)
lone surviver
two worlds 2 velvet edition (enjoyed #1 and pirate exp might sooth the risen 2 desired until its cheap)
dead island

will probably cave and get walking dead but might resist until christmas sale. skyrim was tempting at 50% but have so many rpgs to still play, including oblivion exp (only finished main game..same as also still installed morrowind).

caved and got a few more things:
thief deadly shadows (Been eyeing it forever and hey $2.50!)
dragon age ultimate edition (long on my wishlist, couldnt resist $7.50)
walking dead (finally went for the 40% off that kept coming and going)
alan wake bundle for $10

done for now with total of about $90 for 12 games. got my wishlist down to 10. gotta keep something for christmas sale!

had recently syndicate, mafia 2, saboteur, darkness 2, and necrovision for $50 from amazon. some got my gaming set for a while. $140 for a ton o' gaming vs 3 new games.

Made it to Bor. Snuck in a house and found 2 canteens (1 empty, 1 full)! So now I got 3. Fill my old empty & the new so now set for some a while. Still got decent food. Quite nerve wracking sneaking past/laying nonmoving so close to zombies to get to the water pump. Prefer lakes smile On my way out of Bor did notice a flare or fire by a deer stand e of town that I had been at. Dark and rain so couldnt see that far but watched that direction as I walked backwards into the woods. I need to find a better backpack as I have little empty space.
29  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DayZ - Arma 2 Zombie Apocalypse Mod! (small AAR story included) on: June 07, 2012, 03:12:01 AM
There are other arma2 zombie levels but i havent played them ( Might be able to make the sp dayz into mp but it wouldn't save anymore.

My 2nd guy found a lake n of prigor (bit w of where maps say kopyto and can still see road so not to far in woods). Revisited prig to get a bit more stuff. Went back to lack and then lost my backpack trying to figure out how to refill canteen (right click canteen smile ). Headed w to some lake town below nadezhdino. Got into 2 buildings without trouble. Continueing w came across a few buildings and had a quick battle. Lost blood and used a bandage. Found a knife and ax as I headed on. Got into another battle and used last bandage. Now seeing b & w. Was trying to get to deer huts neer bor when had another attack. Now I was blurring out (hurts real eyes watching monitor as I walked/ran for a while). Survived some more zombies but never found bandages or enough food to save me. Walked into bor and took a few out so I could die.

Currently I spawned near kamenka. Talked with some people and tried to take out a bandit but lost him. Tried tracking someone else but lost him too. That was the most human contact I've had since I started. Headed n to deerstand. Got some ammo and food. Thought I went w but not sure. Luckily came across another deer stand with ak and bandages. Might be by pavlovo now. Unsure. Nicely equipped and have avoided any fights so far.

Night time is bugging me though. Don't mind a little but played this morning/noonish on TX/Dallas servers and it was always dark. While I think they had rain its usually not that hard to see. That and sluggish servers drove me crazy. So kept server hopping.

Sometimes wonder why I dont play sp one since I avoid peeps, but the odd chance of stumbling across one is interesting.
30  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DayZ - Arma 2 Zombie Apocalypse Mod! (small AAR story included) on: June 05, 2012, 10:28:43 PM
think i'm playing a hunting simulator. just walking through the woods smile

my 1st guy wandered up around kozlovka. after previous play was out of water and slowly dying of thirst so went into some small town to find anything. Unsuccessful but took out a few zombies but got nothing I needed from them. A few more attacked later and I died as I ran out of ammo.

I then spawned in cap golova between cherno and electro. Still trying to play safe but wondering if I shouldnt just suicide stroll into a town and wait until I have good stuff to head out into woods. But I like the tress, so headed into woods then followed treeline west to Prigorodky. Snuck into town looking for anything (Didnt want to go to far inland and find nothing like last time). Took out 4 zombies and still had ammo and OK blood. Got some sodas from them. Nearby building had some more ammo, food and water. Wandered up into woods for now. Prigor seems like a good place to stay to stock up before I head out looking for better gear.

Still have yet to run into any real players.

Edit: also decided to not eat or drink if its about time i plan to quit. No point wasting it since will be hungry thirsty when log back in.
31  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DayZ - Arma 2 Zombie Apocalypse Mod! (small AAR story included) on: June 03, 2012, 03:41:00 PM
Tried mp yesterday and spent forever getting it working frown

But now I'm doing fine. Tried the six updater but it didnt seem to work or user error. Found it easier to just have zip of 1.6 and 1.7 and flip manually between what I wanted. Got 1.7 and beta working now since most servers on that and 1.6 was too laggy for me.

Was playing on a Dallas server. Not sure where I am on the map (didnt pay attention when it started). Just following the coast, hanging out by some rocks, watching zombies in the distance. Think I'll get a good map on my touchpad to use as a map to find my bearings. Pasted a little dock. Can see a few small buildings around. Tempting. Started near a lot of buildings but didnt want to go near them.

Probably hop on later and figure out where I am. Maybe go zombie shooting/looting for practice as I have nothing so nothing to lose smile

EDIT: Forgot to ask. What in game settings due people use. Normal, high or low for some things? Think I have objects normal but terrain low. Wondering how much foliage people running around with.

Edit2: think im right west of bay mutnaya westside of cherno. Heading towards balota unless i head n randomly inland.
32  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DayZ - Arma 2 Zombie Apocalypse Mod! (small AAR story included) on: June 01, 2012, 01:10:02 AM
are login times still crazy?

read about the mod but heard it can take a while to get the game going.

i've got mine set up and so far only played around with an unofficial sp version of it ( thats just you and zombies, no bandits/friends. once i get the feel for it i'll hop onto some mp but dont have lots of gaming time to waste just trying to login to a server.

mostly work and raise my 2 and 8 yr old and hang with the wifer. them plus yardwork on weekends seem to take all my time in a good way smile

read a lot though. currently on an old scifi kick and rotating between verne and wells. also have a robert a. wilson book to finish. also always reading history-ish stuff on wiki or online somewhere.

sometimes draw ( but haven't done anything this year (ideas in my head just need to sit down and put em on paper). always doodling somewhere though just not fit to print.

less than sometimes play bass or dork on my 90s flatland bike while older kid is riding his.

walk a lot and like hiking but OK is a fiery hell in summer and cold icy hell in winter frown (Think we get 1 month of good weather and Im usually working then smile ) and I hate going long distances to do stuff. So I dork on my bike, play in the yard with kids or play inside.

i just finished it the other day or so. i played up until the citadel then got bored and went off to other games. recently decided to finish so came back and just plowed straight through and resisted my RPG OCD to look in all corners and complete all quests. Took about 20hrs. I did end up enjoying it especially since its scifi. Favorite part was the last level or so except the final boss fight, but I'm never a fan of those. I did get ME2 on steam deal so will play that at some point by trying to knock out some FPS first or other RPGs I have installed. Not one of my fav RPGs but still thought it was worth a playthrough.
37  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Favorite WebOS Game? on: March 05, 2012, 03:22:18 AM
Im always in CM9 android on my touchpad.

Like playing Twisty for Infocom text games and just got gemrb working so I can play Baldur's Gate 1 on it (Took forever to realize I needed widescreen mod res set to 1024x720 not 800 due to android menu bar).

In Webos, mostly played angry birds or random flash games and did get infocom games working using a browser based frotz (parchment). Remember liking Totemo, Wood Enigma and Quell puzzle games.
