I would check someplace like Radio Shack.

Don't they make hooks that you can put on your door (slide over the top)?  Then it's out of the way, and the landlord can't say anything as it's not permanent.

Just picked this up last night. Very fun!  First time I set someone on fire with my ammo, I was grinning ear to ear.  I like that you can equip yourself for more DOT rather than direct damage, as I'm pretty mobilie, but not very dextrous/accurate. Seems like lots of different playstyles will be possible in here.

I turned 37 today and feel pretty much the same as I ever have.  I've met enough people in their 40s/50s/60s who are still in great shape and going strong that I don't much worry about aging. Eat decent, workout regularly and it'll all be good.

In order of privacy

Whitetail has a smaller back area with the firepit and all, but it looks very secluded.  Coyote is a close second with a bigger firepit area, but one of the leantoo's up top overlooks it (not a huge deal and this is where I stayed last trip).  Bear's decent, just have to park your car strategically (stayed here before and it was fine).  Moose has the trail to the restrooms/showers running right next to it which I wouldn't really like.

I highly doubt you can go wrong with any of them though.

Interesting, they have loosened their policy. It used to favor state residents. You still can't book cabins online, though, has to be by phone. Hmm, I see that they DO have electricity. No Wi-Fi, though.  icon_cry $46 a night with a 4-night minimum still ain't cheap, and it's too late to reserve for this fall...but maybe I could tack it onto the beginning or end of our Williamstown vacation next summer. Hmmmmm.

I just booked my last stay online so I know you can do it.  I think you are referring to the cottages which have full kitchens and stuff in them that require a phone reservation.  I'm talking about the one room cabins that are basically just a bed, light and power outlet.  You do have to do it by phone if it's within the next week or so though (that's for all sites).  There's also no 4 night minimum that I could see.  I just ran a test and it let me set up a reservation at a cabin for two nights in July of next year, as well as late September this year without any problem.

thumbsup We haven't been camping in a very long time but Gifford Woods was by far our favorite campground. Really good mix of amenities and privacy, beautiful area, lots to do in the vicinity. For the past couple of years we've made noises about renting one of their rustic cabins for a weekend to sort of ease ourselves back into camping...but somehow it never works out. Cabin reservations are hard to get, I think you have to make them in person.

Nope, you can book them on the internet now.
Depending on the time of year, you might have to book several weeks ahead of time, but I've never had a problem getting a cabin there and we've done it for several years now.

You can take a look at the White Mountains in New Hampshire, and the Green Mountains in Vermont.  Likely much more affordable than Lake Placid, and jam packed with all the hiking, scenic drives, quaint towns you can hanle.

Rt 100 through Vermont is an especially scenic drive (one of the best in the country) and the Kangamangus (sp?) highway in NH is also great.

457  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / MP3 Player Recommendation on: July 01, 2009, 05:33:57 PM
Ok, so I'm looking to buy an MP3 player for the wife, but she's not particularly gadget experienced, and I don't wanna spend a lot of money if I don't have to.  I want to find something that meets the following requirements:

1) Easy to use - It's important that operating the thing is intuitive and non-complicated.  Loading music doesn't matter, as I will do that, and it's usually jsut drag & drop anyway
2) 8GB storage - I don't need something that can carry millions of albums or anything.  8GB seems to be a decent size and a nice way to keep the price down
3) Around $100 price point.  Under that if possible, but I would go to $150 or so if it meant getting something really good.

So I'm sure there's plenty of players available that will meet those needs, but I don't have a lot of time to read reviews and stuff to find the best choice.  Help me GameingTrenders... you're my only hope
458  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: New Gostbusters Movie in the Works on: March 31, 2009, 03:01:39 PM
Well, it wouldn't make sense to do a straight third sequel. Murray, Ackroyd and the rest of the gang are pushing 60. There should have been a third movie back in the 90s or something. The second movie wasn't as good, but they could have put out one more.

The movie Evolution actaully started out as a third Ghostbusters movie but fell apart due to some issues I can't remember right now.

Though both Huw and Booner would make excellent CEOs, I am going to throw my vote to Huw.  He definitely loves the game, takes lots of initiative, doesn't have the time constraints that Booner said is coming up for him, and already has lots of the skills trained that are needed.
462  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Help me buy a GPS on: March 19, 2009, 09:49:03 PM
I have a garmin unit in my car and love it to death.  You can find a unit in the Nuvi line for whatever budget you are working with... mine has the stadard GPS fare, traffic, bluetooth (which in reality the call quality is crap so I never use it), and an MP3 player which I do use all the time and is quite nice.  I think I paid around $300 for it but you can give up some features and get one for around $150 I think. They also have a new line with 3D building view features and stuff. Garmin has always been the king of GPS, so I would recommend sticking with them for your automobile unit.

Scratch the above... I'm going to go the hauler and trading route to support mining missions and transport goods between stations.  Perhaps I can also act as a gateway for us selling our excess materials to other stations to maximize our income potential.

Ok, well I will probably start up a miner then and work my way towards the big mining barges.  Mybe train up to a cruiser on the side for running missions too.

So I've been reading these threads for about a week now sitting on the fence on whether to join up or not.  After reading the latest on mining and production this morning, I decided it's time to get off the fence and join!  So answer me this... what would you consider most needed by the corp right now? I used to play a long time ago and most aspects of the game are interesting to me so I would find most enjoyment by being useful to the corp filling a needed role.

Wait, they're called cheesesteaks, but you're not supposed to get them with cheese on them?

Wiz = cheeze whiz.  This is what authentic cheesesteak sandwiches use.
477  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Good time to buy a house now? Need opinions please!! on: January 30, 2009, 07:55:48 PM
Houses are real cheap right now, so it's definitely a good time to buy if you can get financing (it's MUCH harder than it used to be).  One thing to check though... make sure you can actually rent your place and make enough to cover the mortgage.  My friend had a house built recently, has yet to be able to sell his old condo, and it took several months just to get someone in to rent the place for a large loss.
478  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Pet Allergy Tests? on: January 29, 2009, 03:44:18 PM
So my wife and I are thinking about getting a dog.  The problem is we need to find out ahead of time if she is allergic to them (she's allergic to cats, and sometimes she gets stuffed up when visiting my parents, but it's hard to tell the cause).  Is there a way of finding out if she's allergic other than just exposing her to a dog for awhile and seeing what happens?  Maybe a blood test?

480  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTORO Volume 2: Mines of Moria (paid, full-box expansion) on: January 27, 2009, 08:32:33 PM
Another week and still going strong.  The more I play, the more I appreciate the differences in userbases.  My playing style in MMOs has always been very much solo; I might join an instance group from time to time, but even then it was when I specifically knew someone in the group (completely random PUGs were never something I wanted to do).

I have now grouped countless times with random people and have yet to meet a single asshat.  Everyone is very courteous and enjoyable to play with and even OOC chat is generally fine (I can only think of maybe two times when people were being jagoffs on OOC chat).  I've even managed to make some in-game friends, joined a great kinship (guild) and am having a fantastic time.  My playtime now seems to be 50/50 between solo and group questing.

The story/lore is also still going very strong.  I've never played an MMO with such a strong and cohesive story element between zones.  Every quest from the large multi-step chains to the smallest fetch/fed-ex quest fits into the larger story flawlessly.

Currently my champion is up to level 29, questing in North Downs, have the money for my 35 mount in the bank and am saving for one of the nicer houses.
