Yeah I was kinda intersted in this, but that trailer didn't do much for my hopes really.

So I have more questions…

Spoiler for Hiden:
How come Comstock is so old if he’s a version of Booker in 1912?  Shouldn’t he have been 38 too?  Was he aged due to the portals?

Spoiler for Hiden:
Best theory I read is that using the rifts has prematurely aged him as well as made him sterile.

Finished last night... mind officially blown.

Between this and Tomb Raider, it's been a really good "one-two punch"

Fringe and most all of the James Bond movies (no Daniel Craig) look to be there as well now.  Seriously good content dump over the last couple days.

You get upgrades to the amount of salt you carry, as well as get vigors which use less of it.

Regarding your spoiler and the choice you have to make with #77... does what happens next change at all depending on your choice?  icon_neutral

Spoiler for Hiden:
I chose the "good" option and later on in the game I got a decent reward for doing that (won't saw what or where so you don't get spoiled, but it's obvious when it happens).  Not sure if that would change (or the immediate results) if i went "evil".  I'm going to assume they still would have grabbed your hand and seen the AD on it but maybe they let you throw the ball first?

I watched this tonight. First time ever, had no clue what was going on, but didn't really want to... AWEFUL acting is what I saw. Just was too over the top cheesy. Maybe it's better than what I saw, and probably better if I knew why was going on... Still, seemed pretty crappy.

Nope, it doesn't get any better.

I said it before and I'll say it again... it'll be a cold day in hell before you see always on, no used games this generation.  That became doubly assured when Sony announced the PS4 specs.

The generation after the upcoming one? Yeah, I can see it maybe happening then.
56  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [TV] Revolution on: March 19, 2013, 06:14:28 PM
If constant character trait flip-flopping doesn't bother you, then give it a shot; the central premise is fairly interesting.  I couldn't stand it because everything people did was to searve the plot, regardless of if it was in character or not (many times within the same episode).
57  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 15, 2013, 01:49:24 PM
So their main focus is now on developing the game they promised?  How considerate of them. Sooo glad I held off on this title, and I really hope they are punished for this debacle of a release. If everyone forgets about all this in a few months (with the release of some shiny new DLC!!!), they will have learned nothing.

Did you  play past the first hour or so?  The beginning of the game is heavily scripted and full of QTEs meant just to get you into the story.  Once you land on the island and make your way to the first campfire, it opens up and gameplay changes significantly.

This is definitely a huge departure from the older Tomb Raider games (so you still might not like it), but don't let the first bit color your judgement of the title; it's really not representative of it.
60  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 13, 2013, 12:32:30 PM
Makes you wonder why everything is so buggy then, even beyond the regional features.  Also, knowing what sort of bugs they have fixed so far without touching the client would give clues as to whether this is true.
61  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tomb Raider on: March 06, 2013, 07:02:39 PM
I'm hoping they realese some DLC of huge tombs to explore (a la Underworld).  It's the only thing I'm missing in this title.
62  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [Movie]The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on: February 28, 2013, 08:42:16 PM
The only confirmed bad guys in the movie are Electro and Rhino.  Everything else is just rumor and speculation. I'm betting they setup Green Goblin at the end for Spidey 3.
63  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Walking Dead moonwalk onto AMC for Season 3 on: February 28, 2013, 01:39:04 PM
I thought the scene was designed to show Rick is finally coming back to sanity and rejoining the group.  Wasn't this the first tiem he's actually held the baby without looking like he's going to drop kick it?  There were a few other clues peppered throughout the episode as well... the heartfelt "be careful out there" he gives Andrea when she leaves, and the really quick glance of a white dress in the forest when he's standing guard which he doesn't go running after like a fool.

I think we've seen the last of captain insano.

Anyone else playing this?  It's currently in beta, but if you buy it you get instant access.

Gameplay is sort of a combination terrarria/roguelike where you run around collecting stuff, crafting items, and trying to stay alive, but once you die, the game is over.  I really dig the concept of learning how to survive little by little, figuring out how to feed yourself, how to survive the evenings, how to build up a base.  The game is extremely stable already, and the developers are adding updates at a failry decent clip. And these are real updates adding all new systems and things to do.

It's only $12 on Steam right now, and you get an extra copy to give away with your purchase, so try it out!

If they cozy up to online retailers, they can circumvent Gamestop altogether. Brick and Mortar game stores are  a dying model.  It will only get exacerbated. Perhaps not in the very next gen but by PS5 and XboxNEXTNEXT I bet GS is largely removed from the equation.

Agree completely.  Physical media and Gamestop are going away, but it's not happening this year.

Edit: ATB!!
69  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Xbox: Always online, no second-hand games, 50GB Blu-ray and new kinect(EDGE) on: February 06, 2013, 02:44:57 PM
The best argument I have heard against all the "no used games next gen" rumors is that MS/Sony really can't afford to piss off Gamespot to that extent as they are the largest retailer of their software/hardware.  We aren't losing physical media in the next generation and the majority of sales will continue to come from physical media.  The numbers will certainly shrink over time, but we aren't there yet.  I would say the all digital/no used steam model is more likely going to happen in the gen after next (so 5 years down the road or so?)

I would also say the always online requirement isn't likely, as it immediately restricts your customer base.

Perhaps there are things they are putting in place at a hardware level so that they could turn something like this on in the future (spawning the rumors), but i really don't see that big of a change to the retail market happening this year.

77  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The 201X Health Improvement Thread on: January 24, 2013, 02:00:30 PM
I havn't had any real reason to post in this thread the last couple years because frankly I've let myself go quite a bit.  Weight steadily creeping up, blood pressure rising, getting flabby, feeling tired all the time.  I usually carry a gym membership, so I would get back from time to time, but peter out within a couple weeks and just lose my motivation.  Last November I went to the doctor's for a checkup and when getting weighed, I found I had hit 190 lbs.  Many might say that's not too horrible, but I have always told myself I would never let myself hit 200, and it was too close to the mark to ignore any more.  The doc also told me I had to lose 15 lbs if I wanted to get off my blood pressure meds.

Immediately after my appt. I went across the street and signed up at the gym again.  It's a Planet Fitness, and part of the membership is free classes with the on staff trainer. I met with him, told him what my goals were and he told me to just show up every day for class and he would take care of the rest.  One important note, this guy is an MMA fighter and really knows what he is doing, and even though planet fitness is mostly machines, they have a good enough set of free weights that we never touch them in our workouts. My daily routine is now to go to class, then hit the elliptical for a bit afterwords.  I also fixed my diet to a degree; rather than counting calories and all that, I just stay away from anything processed as much as possible.

So here we are, two months later and I havn't missed a day (other than christmas and new years).  The trainer has been kicking my ass on a steady basis (he gives me much more advanced stuff to do than the others in class) and I feel like a new man.  I'm down to about 175, the fat has dropped off of near everywhere but a small spare tire around the middle.  The flab is about gone and I am looking really cut and getting much stronger. Come summer, the spare tire should be gone and I'll be fully ripped.  I'm already full of energy again, and am hoping to get off the meds soon; I feel better than I have in years!
