So is it true that store bought copies of Bioshock require an online activation?

Hehe...I was about to post this on a Bioshock brain break, when I noticed that Ceekay had posted...you're going to hate me.  icon_lol

OK, now that I'm a bit further in, all I can say is.....

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I thought the demo was pretty damn good, but now that I've grown the character a bit to fit my playstyle, plus gotten into a bit more meatier sections of the game...I can now say that the demo, the interviews, and the videos were all just a tease. Sure we all knew the basics, nice looking, Plasmids, Big Daddies (aka Mr. Bitch to me saywhat) Little Sisters, etc. etc...but damn it 'plays' nicely. You really can take on baddies in several ways. I can't wait to hear stories on how others have built their characters or approached situations in ways I haven't thought of.

I can say that they've held the story fairly close to the vest. The way it's progressing is really holding my interest thus far..it's become more than just killing to me, I really would like to know what in the hell is going on. The little audio recordings you come across...which are far more than I would have thought...just make you want to delve a bit further. Sometimes chilling, sometimes a bit campy, sometimes informative...but all voice acted out convincingly.

Exploration...I'm sure it's not as wide open as many would have hoped. Lots of locked rooms, hidden passages, or need 'X' to proceed, yet there  enough twists and turns that you don't really feel locked down too badly. That said, you will want to search every nook and cranny. There are plenty of little goodies stashed around.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing everyones thoughts come Wednesday. thumbsup

The amount of time you have to invest in Blue Dragon before the payout occurs is excessive by any measuring stick...For the first 10-15 hours Blue Dragon offers linearity, characters you know little about, and little in the means of interesting action or combat. It's not a far stretch of the imagination at all to think that a great number of gamers won't make it over this first hump.

I usually give a game 5 hours to catch my interest, so that pretty much knocks it off of my rental list.

The fact that it sounds like they are having trouble optimizing the demo (like the one statement that mentioned 'making sure all the drivers are in place') is making me wary about the PC version.  If only they put up the activation servers early so those who got a copy of the PC version already could start posting impressions.
