It just looks soo bad, but Jet Li is so awesome.
I've found this looks a bit akin to The Transporter 2. The movie didn't really make any sense or was over the top many times, but it left you with some action sequences that you can watch and say "aw cool"

as long as it's better than Crank....
That movie was terrible and all the "Sweet action" that a few of my friends had told me was in it was either laughably unrealistic or so predictable that I saw it coming minutes before.

I was pretty much told the same thing and suffered the same disappointment.

And by the way, yes, it was a much superior experience on PC.

yeah, I imagine it was alot more challenging than having the 'soft autoaim' option the 360 supposedly has.  Those Splicers could be awfully nimble.
64860  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Why can't they... on: August 28, 2007, 02:44:09 PM
OK, why can't they.....

let the settings options that appear in a games video options menu go as high as the program will allow it?  why, if I want to make the game look better than the arbitrary setting that the devs decided to limit us with, do I have to go and tweak the .ini files (or whatever off the wall file extension system they use) to go outside those limits when the game is capable of doing it?  Like in Two Worlds:  in game I can max out the LOD and Grass Fade distance using the sliders in the options menu, but that doesn't acrually max out the settings- to do that you have to tweak the game files on your own.  It's like making a car that goes 200 MPH but limiting the max speed to 65.

Those screenies you posted look a lot better than I had envisioned the game looking, CK.  Thanks.

Question:  Is your character "class-based" or "skill-based" in this game?  Also, is it just you and your horse against the world, or do you ever get any type of party?

Based on the demo I played, skill based. You have no class at all, just the stats you choose upon level up, along with your new skills.

yep, every level you get 5 points to spend on your stats and 1 point for skills.  I think you can get skill points other ways too.  and supposedly there are mages in some of the bigger cities that can 'brainwash' you in a specific skill set, resetting it to 0 and letting you spend the points back again.

The only annoying thing so far is that I have to go outside the game to tweak all of the settings to get it to look better.  why can't they allow you the possibility to do that stuff with sliders in the video options?  Stuff like LOD and Grass fade are already in the setting menu but it won't let you go beyond a certain point without creating a custom .ini-like file.

64875  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bioshock Overall Game Discussion *SPOILERS* on: August 28, 2007, 06:02:54 AM
I just finished the game with the good ending.  Overall it was decent, but the last parts have pretty much ruled out any replaying for me.  I managed to make it through the escort mission without a loss, but the game fracked me over on my quicksave during it.  I did it when there was no one around, but when I had to reload all of a sudden there were a couple of splicers and a turret just waiting  mad

Randomness:

None of the twists seemed surprising- I figured that at some point you'd have to wear the Big Daddy suit, and knew something had to be up since you were so willing to stick yourself with needles- unless I missed Atlas (yeah, didn't see that one coming a mile away) said 'would you kindly stick yourself'.  IEven Fontaine was a bit Shodan-esque in his machine

Oddly enough the hacks where the needle was all the way to the end of the red seemed fairly easy, and once you did a couple of puzzles you could pretty much tell which way the pipes had to go before the fluid started flowing.

The crossbow was awesome except when they got in close.  the rarely breaking ammo mod seemed to knock things out of whack though, and the trap quarrels worked awesomely on the Big Daddies.

the enemies got kind of monotonous.  I'm not sure what else they could have done though.
