You say that now, but when you're stuck in that job getting paid a pittance, yet still having to be under intense hair whitening deadlines, all the while they milk your ideas for millions.

well, yeah, the grass always looks greener from the other side, but still, even having your name on something like Heroes or House would make for some decent geek cred.

I actually applied to join earlier.  I guess either X-Fire or Steam could work for voice chat, but doesn't Steam require you to hit a key to talk?  I see X-Fire has voice activation, which could come in handy when getting swarmed by demons.

I'm primarily a SP gamer despite how much I play online.  At 5 hours, I'll wait until it hits $30.

well, I just talked with my gaming group.  5 of us are interested in the PC version, and considering it's a short game we're all pitching in 10 bucks and passing it on to the next person after the other is done.  considering the fact I'll fly through it I got first dibs.  I was thinking about the Steam version but since it's short and I really don't have much interest in the MP this will work better.

OK, looking at the official forums about guilds:

1- There are no officers.
2- You can only have 50 people in 1 guild.

I have to say, the game is fun but there are some things missing/decisions made that make me go 'wtf?'  it's almost like they decided to tack on the MP features at the last minute.

Combat did take some getting used to (I love it now though).  The key is timing.  You can't spam attacks- it won't work.  Put the cursor over an enemy and make sure you have an attack icon (dagger) and press once.  If Geralt needs to close to get in range then he will, so the attack animation may not start immediately.  Once he's attacking you should see an icon indicating you can't take action.  Do not press the button during his attack- I think it will cancel it prematurely.  Once he has finished his first combat action (which is actually several sword moves strung together), there will be a woosh sound and an orange trail on his sword stroke.  At that time make sure the cursor is over the enemy still and press the attack button again to start the second combo string.

The key to combat is really timing.  It's not like Diablo nor is it like NWN where it wiill continuously attack an enemy with one click.  I'm not sure I've ever played a game with a combat system like Witcher's but in practice I find it's a pretty good mix of twitch and non-twitch RPG combat.

That's the basics.  It can (and will) get a good deal more complicated when you started bringing rolling and flipping into the mix while changing combat styles on the fly along with using spells but you shouldn't need to do any of that yet to get through an encounter.

you know, I've long said they need to do a KotOR using the Jade Empire combat system, but now I'd say this is the system for that.

I don't want to be the leader or anything, but I can contribute some moneys to the 10k cost if someone wants to step up...

I was wondering about that too.  I think Ron's busy studying for his CPR or CDL or CPA or something that starts with a C....

The big question would be is this:  is there enough interest in Guild Play to warrant the time and effort?  or we everyone be better off looking into an exisiting group like The Wanderers?

the whole AI standing around while you fight is bugging me.  There's a part in the comcast video where your character is taking on 20 guys, but only 1 or 2 at a time.  He has his back  to the other soldiers, and the soldiers just stands there watching.  I'll keep it on my wish list, but I think I'm going to wait and see if I don't get it for Christmas.

looks like they made combat a little less deadly for the player as originally you weren't supposed to be able to survive combat situations like that.  Still, it looks like it's fun, and right now that all that really counts in my book, so I'll be picking this up alongside Kane & Lynch.

Couple of questions:

1.  Is there a difference between Acts and Chapters?  I believe the game has five acts and, according the game, I'm in Chapter 2 but I figure that must be the same as Act 2 because, otherwise, this game would be way more massive than I'm expecting.
I don't know, never noticed there are chapters.  icon_biggrin

In the journal quest list it looks like there are 6 or 7 chapters.  you can sort them by chapter, but I don't recall seeing anything about Acts.

2.  Steel Swords- are they better than the Witcher Steel Sword you start the game with?  Steel sword I find in the world usually say something like "Damage -20%" while the description for the Witcher Sword only says "Damage depends on Combat Style".
Well, stick with witcher sword, and once you find 3 blue or 3 red meteorites, you can ask any blacksmith to reforge the witcher sword (use the same color meteorites, it forges better sword, I believe 3 blue will give you +40% pain, and 3 red will give you +40% damage, and it is lot better than the average sword.)  I'm in Act III currently, and didn't find anything that's better than the reforged witcher sword yet.

Oh, don't forget to apply oil to the sword, I like the one that's causes pain, I forgot the name of the oil, start with a c something, but it is great to have it on steel sword, you will find when you are fighting humans, they stagger a lot due to the pain you are causing.  icon_lol

I did find a nice sword in the swamp on a body surrounded by Wyverns.  At the time I found it I had only reforged a sword out of 2 blue and 1 red meteor, but this one had better stats.  I'll have to check it at home to see what all it has though.
