Well, after the Cerberus and kids portion in the Challenge of Poseidon I have officially given up on this game (even the Gamefaqs walk thrus weren't helping).  I took a pair of scissors and cut it in half and tossed it into the trash.  No game is worth the aggravation and it stops being fun after the .  Oh, and to all the snide remarks I'm sure are to follow:

Well, I have come to the conclusion that my backlog is out of control.  I believe when you have to get creative with places to store game boxes it's a sign that you have too many games and it's time to do something drastic.  There's no way I'll ever get to all of the games, especially with a bunch of them being games that take 70+ hours to complete.  Right now I'm considering 'cashing out' on one of my 3 systems, and out of the 3 (360, PS2 and Wii) currently the PS2 is the weakest link in my collection.  I don't see anything that interests me coming out for it on any of the upcoming games lists, and since I'll eventually get a PS3 in a year or two it's not like I'll miss out on anything and at the same time be able to focus on the other 2 consoles.  So, barring any change of heart, the Playstation and I will be parting ways for awhile.


Tell me, what's the most extreme thing you've done to clean up your backlog?

odd.  The same thing happened with Soulchilde awhile back, and I'm pretty sure I had jblank on my list before and his tag disappeared.  I think I may have room if you send another request (if you want to).  I know I did recently remove Myotocles (all she plays is FFX and I doubt I'll ever get that game  ) and couple of others that I never have played online with to make room for some other people.

Yeah, my initial reaction was "Crap!  Better buy one this month!"  But then I figured that there is no guarantee that Sony won't gimp the current chips in a firmware upgrade anyway (as Andrew mentioned when this was first discussed) and, not only do I have an already functioning PS2, but more importantly it's not going to be discontinued anytime soon (something that couldn't be said about the Xbox). 

I meant to bold the 1080i portion.  FFXII might look nice in 1080i, but they do say 'selected games'.  I'm going to keep my PS2 when I get the PS3 too.

I got all 50 with :32 secs to spare.  I had 49 of them with 4:23 to go.  It took me almost four minutes to remember Missouri!!!!

Science Diet and Eukanuba are much better quality, with less filler so there's less poop to clean up.  Healthier, too.

It depends.  I think they only did that for the 2005 version of the consoles, and when I had mine die I kept seeing rumors that they were going to stop do this.

I've been trying to think what might fix your other issue but haven't come up with anything yet.  Last time something like that happened to me was years ago and I just bit the bullet and took the PC in for repairs.  I can't remember the technical explanation but if I do I'll post there.

From everything I have read, this game is too hard for me.  Yes I admit it, I am a wuss when it comes to game difficulty in general.  DOA4, you can burn in hell with Ninja Gaiden, no matter how good the game is.

That would make me an 'OUT!'.

Remember "E.T." - supposedly the worst game EVAR!!!!11 - I thoroughly enjoyed it as a kid.  It wasn't until I ran up against the collective wisdom of the internet (ha!) that I realized I wasn't actually having fun all those many years ago.

I used to spend hours playing E.T. on the 2600. It's good to know that I wasn't actually having fun  

If you had a few bombers in wait for the finishing blow, do you think they would've had any trouble making it to the construction yard?  Or, even simpler, wouldn't the Nod chemical missile thingie be enough to finish it off?  Even the mine drop ability will damage buildings it lands on.

doh!  it didn't occur to me to send the bombers in.  I gave up on them as their pathfinding seemed to be pretty bad.  I'd click on a target and maybe half the group of 4 would actually move to attack which would give it time to recover.  I did notice that the AI doesn't seem to use any air units at all either.  I don't think the chemical missile damages buildings and I didn't know the mine drop would do that.
